Yes, but think on what it was like then. Think on what was considered to be logical. People would dual to the death over trivial matters. People's grasp of science was archaic and entirely dated. A lot has changed, and things need to be revisited. Even things from as recent as the 50s can seem incredibly dated.

Religious beliefs though are almost entirely designed to be cherry picked or they wouldn't work. Especially not in 2019. You read that thing lately?

The right to defend yourself is a timeless right. It doesn't get dated.

While some things may be timeless, the vast majority of things are not. Consider the daily lives of people then, and their belief systems. Consider the state of the country at that time, and the world. It is like a different universe now. The right to defend yourself may be a timeless right, but consider their constant need to defend themselves then, and the reality of the situation.

All you have to do is crack open a history of Europe book in the last century to realize that need to defend oneself hasn't gone anywhere. If anything, it's more relevant today. Nazi Germany wasn't that long ago. People worried abut Trump seizing power like Hitler, even though it's absurd, but then turn around and want to get rid of their only line of defense.

Not that long ago, no. But it's silly to think a group of fat rednecks who hang out at a gun club and church are going to do much against a military.

We shouldn't have beaten the greatest army in the history of the world in 1776 either nor should Vietnam have kicked our ass 200 years later, but when there's a will there's a way. It's still better than doing nothing. Americans never roll over and die.

The gun issue to me is far from a big one. As for Hitler...Eh. Hitler was a lot more intelligent than Trump, on one hand. He was also a far greater speaker, and I am quite fond of the groundwork he laid for animal rights groups. But as far as monstrosities committed, it's no question Trump is not even in the ballpark. As for Vietnam, a huge part of that had to do with idiotic military strategy and the North Korean air force.

The greatest army in the history of the world in 1776 is a huge stretch, as Alexander and Genghis Khan both had far more military might.

Perhaps, but Britain had conquered most of the world at that point and we were farmers. We still had no right to have defeated them. It was crazy when you think about it.

Upsets happen, but yeah. That in and of itself is part of it. Underestimating the enemy has been a crucial downfall many a time. Then again, England just kind of sucks at everything. Look at how little they have left now in comparison. Meanwhile, Russia has maintained a mass of size and power for a great period of time.

And yeah, Trump is no Hitler. Anyone that openly mocks Trump for his intelligence and then thinks he's capable of the cues and multi-nation invasions and ethnic cleansing needs to have their heads examined.

Nah. Hitler was far worse, but also far more intelligent. Being intelligent is kind of a requirement for that sort of thing.

Trump recognized Jerusalem as the capital of Israel for crying out loud. Hitler's head would explode at the thought of that!
