I think if I were going to not so much "remake" but re-port Resident Evil 1 proper, I'd take all aspects of these soundtracks and REDS's.

Yeah I was surprised to read the DS version is actually the best, and you can skip door animations I believe.
Door Animations can be skipped, Cutscenes can be skipped, there's a mode similar to arranged that changes things up, adds DS features such as microphone usage, touch-pad capabilities, and a knife mode mini-game. Tactical reload from RE4 is added, the 180* quick-turn is featured, and the knife is now a button on the L trigger, meaning it doesn't take up inventory space, and is always on your person at all times.

I liked what they did with Marvin in the RE2 Remake after playing the original recently. He's so much more fleshed out in the newer one, and you feel more of a connection when he turns.

Think I prefer the original versions of Leon and Claire though, but some of the side characters I liked what they did in Remake.

Like, I think RE:DS could be ported to other consoles of Capcom wanted to and it'd probably be better remembered. I could see it on Switch, 3DS, Xbox 1, PS4/PS5, etc.

I'm looking forward to playing the original RE3 soon. Like, it's been a LONG time since I properly played through it, and I love that game.
