I always say it's an idea where it sounds good on paper, but it doesn't work in practice. And yes, extremes of both are dangerous, and some balance is key. But as someone who had to take a fair bit of political philosophy classes, I always looked at communism as just a lens to be critical. See the flaws of society and then I look towards realistic solutions.
