it's not too too complicated and I don't know why
wrestling media are too lazy to take the time to understand it, it's not even really a new concept.
if you hold all three titles you're the triple crown winner. triple crown is a status, not a title.
Continental Title is a belt won originally at the Continental Classic tournament. It can be defended via the rules aforementioned above. Whoever holds the title at the time of the tournament has automatic entry into it.
The confusion comes from Eddie putting up the other two titles IN THE TOURNAMENT. So had he lost the continent classic tournament, he would have given up his two other belts to the winner. This is strictly because Eddie Kingston is an AJPW mark and wanted to put extra pressure on himself.
Those three titles are still defended separately, unless for some reason Eddie would decide to put all three of them up simultaneously. However, AEW has no jurisdiction over the NJPW Strong belt so why would tony book defenses of that on his show when Eddie goes to defend it on NJPW shows already. If they did that ud get ppl bitching about too many belts and other promotion belts because any number beyond one hand apparently is too much for wrestling fans
Hope this helps. Triple Crown and Continental classic are NOT interchangeable is the TL DR
