1.1 million PPV buys last year. :proud

Increasing the PPV to 8 substantially worked.

This is why you should never set a hard limit on what you’re willing to offer because if you’re hot, they’ll want more and you’ll make more.

Forgive me for my ignorance but I thought they consolidated everything into 1 title when Kingston won it

They must’ve realized how impractical that was considering these belts are from three different companies, so they’ve re-separated them.

I never thought this (purely because it had the ROH World title and NJPW strong title in it which I doubt was getting merged) but so many did. This is one of the few times where I agree things should have been spelled out because it was not clear enough.

it's not too too complicated and I don't know why wrestling media are too lazy to take the time to understand it, it's not even really a new concept.

if you hold all three titles you're the triple crown winner. triple crown is a status, not a title.

Continental Title is a belt won originally at the Continental Classic tournament. It can be defended via the rules aforementioned above. Whoever holds the title at the time of the tournament has automatic entry into it.

The confusion comes from Eddie putting up the other two titles IN THE TOURNAMENT. So had he lost the continent classic tournament, he would have given up his two other belts to the winner. This is strictly because Eddie Kingston is an AJPW mark and wanted to put extra pressure on himself.

Those three titles are still defended separately, unless for some reason Eddie would decide to put all three of them up simultaneously. However, AEW has no jurisdiction over the NJPW Strong belt so why would tony book defenses of that on his show when Eddie goes to defend it on NJPW shows already. If they did that ud get ppl bitching about too many belts and other promotion belts because any number beyond one hand apparently is too much for wrestling fans :heston

Hope this helps. Triple Crown and Continental classic are NOT interchangeable is the TL DR

it's completely ok for regular folks to be confused btw, it wasn't made the clearest but I just get really annoyed at wrestling media particularly - they constantly play dumb like they don't watch the shows ands seem often to act ignorant and plain old stupid instead of using a tiny bit of logic and the eye test

I mean to be fair a lot of Triple Crowns are permanently merged. None of the belts in the All Japan one are ever defended singularly.

And until the Okada match every match had been for the complete triple crown so you can see why there was confusion.

But yes, this one was clearly like the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship. Currently defended as one belt, but still two active title lineages. Eventually they will split again.

I think it's more like the og J super cup stuff.

This is why I kept saying the triple crown was gonna end eventually. You can’t have three companies belts in one crown forever. Even the ROH is technically separate company.

like to me, I never believed in the unification because they were never essentially retiring the ROH world title - that seemed crazy to me lol

Middle paragraph isnt true, he'd defended the Strong and I think even the ROH separately since winning all three so it was kinda nothing like the AJPW one from the start.
