The country over all is pretty tolerant towards the gays. At least as long as I have been a live gay hasn't really been a social issue that I have seen (not being gay myself I cannot claim to speak for them) and gay marriage has been legal for some time as well.

Actually saw on a show about American's with Swedish roots visiting the country that Sweden is considered one of the most "feminine" countries in the world for valuing "female values" like compromising, taking care of the weak and such. Whilst America was on the top of the "macho scale" for having macho values (solve problems by force etc etc). Was pretty interesting that they had that way of measuring countries.

Yea man I hate how everything has to be so macho in the US. It results in people taking themselves too seriously most of the time. I work with a couple of borderline homophobic dudes and they cringe when I make the slightest joke that even hints toward me or them doing something gay. I like to take it too far just to make them uncomfortable.

Then again they are so close minded they probably just think I'm actually gay lol

I grew up in a family who were always tolerant. Someone's sexuality has never been an issue. As a kid there were friends of the family who were gay. I've had friends who were gay, I've had family over the years who were gay. It's whatever. It's always odd to me when that's an issue.

I sometimes think that homophobia stems from insecurity in one's own sexuality.

That's one major theory that I sort of subscribe to. I think someone has mentioned it on this site before but I've heard of a study where they show a bunch of 'homophobic people' gay pornography and it winds up getting a good deal of them super torqued in the pants region. things that make you say hmmmmmmmmmm

On the topic of you messing with your homophobic buddies, I love doing that kind of stuff to folks online. Recently some guy started in with the gay stuff during the Titan job in GTA Online. I'd called him a cocksucker. Not literally, just using the colloquialism. He's like "Well you'd only call someone that if you sucked cocks yourself!" and I'm like "Yeah I do. I suck all of them. All the time." and he's like "YEAH I KNOW YOU DO" and I reply "Yeah I do." and then there was this awkward silence. It rocked.

Its a nice place. Visit it in the summer. Only come in winter if you don't have a problem with snow.
Dude, I live in Maine. We revel in the snow. I hate to admit it but we're pretty close to being Canada. SMH

I've been to Iceland several times, but only in the summer. I love the 24 hours of sun.

To be more precise. Canada reaches as far north, but almost all Canadians live by the border to the US. Sweden is a "tall" country and I live up in the far north. Temperatures reach -30 celsius here in the winter.

I always thought it was clever how they named Iceland and Greenland the opposite of what the country was like to encourage/discourage tourists and immigrants from coming to the country.

Considering the names are relics of the time Vikings inhabited them I doubt that is the reason they have those names.

GOD DAMN, -30C. Now I'm American and celsius is kind of a mystery to me, but 0 degrees C is the freezing point right? Thats f'n cooooold. You have to thaw out your pipes often?

Wow this thread has gone WAY of the rails lol.

Actually not that often. ITs happened one or two times but our pipes are made for it. Since we live in it we build things to work in cold temperatures. We get warm summers and like 24 hours of sun and cold winters.
