The only thing I remember from this incident is what Tony Schiavone was saying before this happened. He was like "This is what pro-wrestling is all about.....NO this is what WCW is all about."

Pretty much buried the whole company in one sentence.

Foley should thank Tony for saying that.[/QUOTE]

Wasn't it Bishchoff who told him to say it through? Pretty sure I heard that somewhere.

On the Nash thing it has always been my belief that Vince and WWF got him over because of their smart promotion, and because they put him against the likes of Michaels and Hart guys they knew could carry most to good matches. The smart thing WCW did was book him as a version of himself rather than another fancy character, quite often this works best in wrestling. To his credit he did excel in the role at least for awhile.

Nash was always a captivating indivudual, not many people have his comedic timing or size.

WWF saw this and worked with it, WCW took it and ran with it. Nash may get alot of shit, but he is definitely an intelligent and witty personality. Just don't give him the book.

Even though, the reforming of the nWo was supposed to be the main program for Goldberg, s he could be da man to knock them off for good but that got fucked up because Goldberg didn't think glass could cut him,

Yeah I just think there is fine line between luck and smarts and its one Nash was balanced on for sure. Also to be fair when he put his mind to it he could produce some very commanding in ring work, sadly that happened not as often as it should.

You don't have to care about in-ring work when a company was paying you 80 grand a year.........guaranteed and only got higher when the company wanted to bring in other guys (favored nations).

That being said, I look back on his matches with Bret fondly, I also loved the first year of the nWo and couldn't get enough of it. Although I did find it weird to hear the WCW faithful cheer fr the WWF guys and chant their WWF names.

Not really, I think you're just a big Nash mark who over speculates what people say. I'm not saying he's an idiot, but some of the shit he says sometimes backs up that statement.

Say what?! You said:

He was part of one the most influential factions ever. Don't need to be a genius to do that and reap the riches.

As if to imply that Nash was lucky to go along with the nWo, that he somehow fell into something easy totally ignoring the fact that the Nash persona was a huge reason the group was a success, that his mere presence in WCW was a head turner, that his promos were knocking it out of the park and bringing in ratings whenever he was on TV, that WCW attendances live went up, that it is well documented that Nash had input in the creative direction of the nWo and how they were perceived as sharp and edgy, realistic..... I was just calling bull shit on your silly dismissal. And you're calling ME a mark? lol

It is also usually documented or said that Nash helped the destruction of WCW. If you think he was this mighty golden superstar that was the number 1 drawer, who, or what do you think killed WCW?

So is he also the reason why NWO brought in a ton of mid carders and made the group larger than it should have and inevitably killed it?

I didn't say he was the #1 draw, nor did I say he was without flaws so please don't put words in my mouth...

What killed WCW? Well, when AOL and Time Warner got in bed with each other they got rid of MANY assets, companies and sporting teams. WCW was just one of many victims of the merger. A merger commonly regarded as being one of the biggest fuck ups in corporate history. In 2001, AOL completed its $164bn acquisition of Time Warner, but it soon led to massive write downs. Time Warner soon realised that the merger was not in its best interests, leading to a loss of $99bn in 2002.

Thinking Kevin Nash was even capable of killing a promotion like WCW - where within such a huge and political system as that merger was wrestling was not wanted - is really the opinion of a fanboy, or a thicko who is more than a little too wrapped up in some nerdy wrestling bubble with the blinkers on, or perhaps a lacking the intelligence to comprehend what happens in the real world. #FingerpokeofdooooooomkilledWCW :fp:

But hey, let's not get away from the fruits of the matter here, that being Rate R Superstar's Blue sentance RE Nash luckily falling into an angle without giving Nash credit.

So you don't want to give him credit for the success, but would like to credit him with the failures?

Just exposed yourself as an non-objective guy who is just "typing" stuff, mate.

I haven't discredited him for anything, just putting out there what you aren't.

Which is like saying, "Steve Jobs was part of the most influential computer companies ever. Don't need to be a genius to do that and reap the riches." It's a Blue thing to say, discredits all of the hard work he did to get to that level and dismisses it as nothing, or easy doings...

I didn't need to insert any criticism of Nash, nor did I feel the need to list his shoe size. It's irrelevant to the discussion at hand. I wasn't writing a love letter for the man. I was countering your short sighted, naive posting of those 23 words - for which you then tried to dismiss as me being a Kevin Nash mark, which didn't work.

But the logic you are baseing that view on is a bit like if someone said that Billy Gunn was a big part of DX's success. I do give Nash credit, but in many ways it was about right place, right time and in many ways it could have been anyone in that spot.

Also yes there were lots of factors why WCW is no longer around, Nash's clueless booking is just one small one.
