How was Jericho more known than DDP? DDP was one of WCWs top faces, Jericho was stuck in the cruiserweight division, sure Jericho was better, but he wasn't in the ME like DDP was.

Jericho was building fast as a whiney heel. People were beginning to REALLY loathe him. I agree that LIKED DDP better, but Jericho was coming of age on his Mic skills.

I really don't think anybody was going to get over Taker, Austin and ESPECIALLY THE ROCK.

YOu can see how he just squashed Jericho's entrance. No matter WHO walked in there, the ROCK was going to SQUASH him. That's what the Rock did and the WWF wasn't about to put DDP or Jericho EITHER ONE over the ROCK...

I kinda liked the DDP stalker storyline and funnily enough I just watched his debut about a week ago, then again I also enjoyed the Invasion angle that everyone seemed to hate :lmao

I love seeing The BOD kill DDP in that cage. It was great as Taker was on fire

I liked it but not for what it was supposed to be. I liked it because the Austin/Angle feud was great, because the Jericho/Rock feud was great and RVD was kinda great during that time period. That said they fucked up on a lot of stuff they could have did right such as use Raven and the ECW brand the right way. Them using the situation just to bury WCW rather than make it a bigger deal than it should have. Also the obvious was them not being able to have the biggest names in Sting, Hogan, Goldberg at the time hurt. So I pretty much like the invasion angle for the stuff that had really nothing to do with WCW or ECW outside of RVD but hated everything else.

DDP could've gotten over huge in WWF, the only name from WCW not named Booker and he was relegated to some stalker shit? WTF is with Vince and WCW stalkers? Thought Barry Windham's stalker character was bad.

He would have been laughed out the building challenging Rock. No one took him serious as a threat to Taker or Kane, same for Booker. Time Warner really fucked the invasion by keeping the real main eventers under contract

Yes, but that's because the whole premise for that angle was watching Undertaker try to identify and catch the stalker so he could beat the shit out of him (then they overbooked and added Kanyon and the two just became jobbers from there). If DDP had returned to address the Rock without any stalker or other gimmicky BS getting in the way like he wished for, it would have been a lot more interesting. Around that time as a kid, DDP and Rock were among my favourite faces and that was a dream match for me.

If Jericho/Punk or Austin/Punk can supposedly write themselves, then how could DDP/Rock not? Two of the biggest faces from their respective companies fighting to see who really is the true People's Champ, with plenty of time to build to Summerslam? That sounds like a winner to me.

Sorry it's the internet and everyone has to state opinions with hyperbole and absolutes.

DDP was one of the biggest names in wrestling in 97, Goldberg was considered this giant megastar off of one year and yet DDP can't get the same love?

OP is one of the worst ideas I've ever read.

DDP isn't what I consider a great talker, Rock would have to carry the whole program.

Is that really that big of a problem though? There have been so many feuds where one guy carries it on the mic, and they still turn out decent.

I didn't mind Diamond Dallas Page in WCW, but whether he debuted and feuded with The Rock or the one he went with against Underter, the fact is DDP would have been squashed either way. No way was Diamond Dallas Page going to win over two of their top talents at the time, it really is a shame though.. Diamond Dallas Page still could have been a lot more in the main event scene than he actually was, but what can ya do?

Not sure throwing him straight out the Rock would have worked. If anything a feud with Jericho could have been solid. Agree this would have been way better than the stalker angle though.

I agree with this. DDP was a top star in WCW. When Jericho debuted, he had his theme come on as he was being advertised like Tazz was being advertised on the Titantron during other wrestler's entrances. The difference with DDP was that his stalking videos were the only clues given to his debut and when he debuted, he debuted with no theme music. All he did was take off the mask in the middle of the ring. But yet, he got a real hell of a pop because the fans were still Attitude Era fans. But yeah, giving DDP the benefit of a music theme upon debuting, it would really give him a hell of a debut. Music themes do matter.
But going against The Rock, he would of gotten buried because the Rock was the face of the WWE at the time and his catch phrases were still solid.

Most feuds involving Orton/Sheamus/etc., guys who are average on the mic, are generally carried by guys like Cena/Punk/Trips who are awesome on the mic. None of the feuds these guys were classic, but they were watchable and entertaining for the time.
