THE IMITATION OF LIFE CONFIRMED

It has been confirmed today that another iconic DC hero will be making their arrival to the DC extended universe's next chapter. With news that the Green Arrow, Black Canary, Harkman, Hawkwoman and Martian Manhunter will all be arriving. It isn't a surprise that another key hero will also be debuting this time with the tragic origin story of Victor Stone AKA Cyborg. A former decorated college athlete who seemed to be a top draft prospect, it was a tragic accident which led to his own father making rash decisions in order to transform his son. It is said that sadly because of the decisions of his father, this film which will be quite the dark story will see Victor consumed with rage, bitterness and self loathing. It is also said that this film will boldly tackle several social issues that Victor and his friends have faced growing up in Motor City, Detroit.

It has been said that DC officials did face a debate regarding this role and it's casting process. As some felt that Ray Fisher perhaps warranted another shot at the role of Cyborg having not been given his true chance in the prior incantation of the Justice League films. It is said that producers met with Ray Fisher and while the meetings were positive they have looked to start afresh and recast Cyborg entirely. This also ruled out Jovian Wade who had impressively starred as the character in the Doom Patrol series. However it has been stated that while neither man was in consideration for the role. Producers are more than happy to cast them in different roles should deals be made.

The casting process for Cyborg was said to be quite the long one as for all intents and purposes producers felt the need to ensure the person selected was capable of conveying the darker nature of the character. It's said that two leading names rumored to be meeting with producers were John Boyega and Michael B Jordan. Sadly however due to scheduling conflicts neither man could audition for the role. A few names who were considered for the role included Lakieth Stanfield, Jharrel Jerome and Eli Goree. However while there was many strong candidates for the role it can now be confirmed that Denzel Whitaker will be the individual playing the role of Victor Stone/Cyborg.

A former child actor who has notably appeared in films such as Training Day, Warrior, Abduction and the Ant Bully. Along with these films Denzel since that time has appeared in the Purge Series as well as Black Panther. It's said that the conflicted character he played in Black Panther very much swayed producers and directors in the casting process. With the feeling being that Denzel is more than capable of conveying the dark emotions of the character while also managing to portray the depths of coming to terms with what he is and has become.

DC EXTENDED UNIVERSE FINDS IT'S DICK GRAYSON!

With recent reports showing that the DC Extended Universe is very much looking ahead to the future with it's recent announcements ahead of it's second chapter. Another announcement has been made today possibly revealing some key details regarding the upcoming Batman film sequel which has been titled Year Two. It is said that the story will focus heavily on a power vacuum through Gotham following the fall of both Salvatore Maroni (Al Pacino) and Carmine Falcone (Robert De Niro). Along the way of several gangsters all looking to strike their claim to the city, the Penguin (Nick Frost) continues to make bold moves as he looks to be the new king of Gotham. With all this chaos and blood, it soon becomes apparent that Batman cannot do it alone.

Which brings us to the exciting confirmation that as part of the year two film we will get our first look at the character of Dick Grayson. The youngest son of the flying Grayson acrobatic troupe. Dick Grayson and his family are apart of Haly's Circus when one criminal's actions leave Dick Grayson cold and alone in this world. In a manner similar to the incident which left him an orphan, Bruce sees a young man in need of guidance to avoid making some of the bad choices he had made previously. This is why Bruce would step in to assume the role of Dick Grayson's legal guardian in an attempt to provide a better life for him and make him safe from Bruce's past mistakes.

It's been said that of all the recent casting announcements made so far. No role has been in such a high demand as that of this one. With numerous names throwing their hat in the circle both privately and publicly. Of course this wouldn't be the first time Dick Grayson had appeared on screen with names such as Burt Ward, Chris O'Donnell and Brenton Thwaites all giving the character life previously. A few leading contenders mentioned in the early going included Joe Keery, Finn Wittrock and Jaeden Mitchell all believed to have auditioned. Yet it can be announced today that the role of Dick Grayson has gone to a name who very much flew under the radar of the audition process.

Dacre Montgomery, perhaps better known as Billy to fans of Stranger Things. It is said that between his appearance on Stranger Things and also his leading role during the power rangers film that swayed directors on this casting. Described very much as the antithesis of Bruce Wayne, Dick Grayson is very much a refreshing breath of fresh air around Wayne Manor. Talkative and with a good sense of humor despite his losses. Dick does need some guidance thanks to his daredevil behavior and hot temperament.

GREEN LANTERNS' LIGHT
Continuing on this journey to establish all the key players in the first arc of the DC Extended Universe. The fifth film in the series would take us back out into space. However unlike the Superman film which focused strictly on Krypton and the Kryptonians. This film Green Lantern's light would introduce us to a great range of aliens as part of the Green Lantern corps. Of course before we could get to the story of the Green Lanterns, our story would first focus on it's main character and best known Green Lantern Hal Jordan (John Krasinski). Remiscent of Maverick from Top Gun in his personality. Hal Jordan was quickly shown to be Cocky, Brash and Bold. Someone who at times rushes into battle without second thought for himself or the risks, Hal is perhaps the bravest character we have been introduced to this far. Yet at the same time Hal does have his scars and troubles a lot of which would come from his childhood which is where we'd first go as part of this film.

The son of a legendary pilot by the name of Martin Jordan (James Marsden) and his wife Jessica Jordan (January Jones). It's said that even from a young age Hal had picked up his father's wild side and was shown to be quite the young daredevil in comparison to his older brother Jack (BJ Novak) and younger brother Jim (Mat Vairo). It was said that even from a young age Hal's antics wouldn't sit well with his disapproving mother. Far from impressed with her husband's dangerous choices it was said that Jessica very much was someone who aired on the side of caution and wanted what was best for her children's safety. In stark contrast to Hal who was a constant source of trouble his older brother Jack was very much the model son who excelled in his classes and all aspects of education. Meanwhile younger son Jim was very much a mommy's boy who everyone loved being the sweet, charming young kid.

Their differences in personality would often cause friction between Hal and Jack with Hal's refusal to settle down and unwillingness to listen to reason making Jack worried of the influence Hal was on their younger brother. In Jack's mind Hal should have been a role model for Jim and not a bad influence. This whole dynamic would create quite the tense atmosphere around the home with Hal believing his older brother to just be a killjoy and his younger brother to be spoiled. Tragically this family turmoil would only be added to when tragedy struck the family as a whole. See Martin was apart of a legendary faction of fighter pilots comprised of himself, Herc Stone, Carl Ferris and Regina Davis. While all these pilots would start out working for the air force, as the years rolled on it would be Carl Ferris (Scott Bakula) who first left the service in order to go into the private sector.

Founding Ferris Air with a business partner Conrad Bloch (William Baldwin). Carl Ferris was devoted to outfitting the military with the latest in aerial combat technology. A loyal man who truly thought of his comrades first it would be Carl's first act to offer his former cohorts roles at his fledgling company with great financial incentives. While both Regina and Herc would agree to do so pretty quickly it would be Martin who took more convincing from his friend to undertake the role. In conversation with his wife Jessica, Martin was urged to take the job with the knowledge of job security, an increase in pay and also the knowledge that her husband would no longer be active in war zones. While Regina took a role in the class rooms as she educated many of the test pilots of tomorrow, Herc Stone would be drafted more into a drill instructor role. Martin meanwhile had little interest in stepping away entirely from the field as he would endure hard training to become one of Ferris Air's top pilots.

With Hal's reckless streak only growing more prominent in his teens, Martin would in an attempt to perhaps give his son a purpose bring Hal along with him to his latest test flight. Sadly what was supposed to be a routine test run would become something else as during his landing Martin would crash his plane dying before his sons' very eyes. While some might expect such a tragedy to bring the Jordan family closer together instead it only further fractured it. As Jessica Jordan very much outlawed her children from Ferris Air while Hal sought to honor and live up to his father's legacy. This brought him into conflict with his mother and older brother. Especially when Carl Ferris having launched an investigation into the death of Martin Jordan would find that this accident was caused by costs being cut by Conrad. It would be with the arrest of Conrad that things reach boiling point for Hal as he felt his lifestyle was vindicated and left home to join the military.

While in the air force Hal's skills would earn him great recognition. His attitude meanwhile would earn him his fair share of detractors with many wondering if Hal was truly cut out for the air force. Despite his relationship with his family in tatters Hal would form a close bond with both Regina and Herc from the musketeers as each of them saw a lot of his father in him. Sadly just as Hal was about to make his way into active service after years of training, he'd receive news that his mother was dying. This would shake Hal to his core and he'd look to return home only to have his request refused by his commanding officer. In response to this Hal would lash out and punch his officer leading to him being dishonorably discharged and kicked out of the air force with immediate effect. Sadly on his return home however Hal would find that his mother had already died and things were worse between him and his older brother as Jack blamed Hal for causing their mother undue stress and making her condition worse.

This would lead to a fight breaking out between the two brothers much to Jimmy's distress who simply wanted their family to be back together. With this fight and his grief consuming him Hal's life would only continue to spiral down a dark slope as he was arrested for drink driving. Yet just as things looked to be their bleakest Hal was bailed out by Carl Ferris, well aware of Hal's story and the path he was taking Carl would offer Hal a job at Ferris Air in an effort to turn his life around. While at first Hal may have been unwilling it was following a later conversation with Herc Stone (Clint Eastwood) and Regina Davis (Linda Hamilton) that Hal would finally agree to work at Ferris Air. Having to start from the bottom very much, Hal found that both Regina and Herc were tough on him wanting him to fully live up to the legacy of his father. As Hal made progression in his training one day he'd be met by his brother Jimmy who greeted him warmly.

Saying he is proud of where Hal has come and turned himself around. Jimmy says that things are still tense at home with Hal being a sore subject. However he does reveal that Jack still loves his brother deep down and is keeping tabs on him. He even goes as far to reveal that Jack as District Attorney has cleared the probation that was put on Hal for his antics. This news would spark a positive change in Hal as he very much for the first time started to settle down and in doing so he'd begin to not only further impress his instructors by toning down his wild side but he'd also reconnect with old friend Carol Ferris. Now the heir to the throne of Ferris Air, Carol similar to Hal had sought to become a pilot. Yet over the years her sensibilities had altered and for the best of the business she'd give up on this dream and instead strive to be her father's successor. While their relationship had faltered in recent times, it seemed that Hal's changes would begin to mend fences between the pair.

Along with his repairing relationship with Carol, Hal would also find himself two other friends. The first of which would be a young mechanic at Ferris air by the name of Thomas Kalamaku (Forrest Wheeler) who'd soon become one of Hal's closest confidants. While Hal's other friendship would be Jillian Pearlman (Beau Garrett) aka Cowgirl, a fellow Pilot at Ferris Air who Hal had befriended. Jillian had overcome a lot of adversity in her pursuit of her career and it was in Hal she found a colleague at Ferris air who treated her as an equal and a peer which led to a strong bond forming. On one particular night in question, Hal Jordan would agree to perform a last minute test flight. During this flight which very much seemed routine Ha's plane would be pulled into an energy field.

Undaunted as he was transported in his craft to an undisclosed location, Hal would have to use all his skills to perform an emergency landing. Unable to speak to his teams on comms, Hal would step out of his plane and soon find the reason for his summoning. Stepping out from the craft and seeing several flashes of green light Hal would rush to this beacon where he'd find a bleeding Abin Sur (Ken Watanabe). Not phased by seeing an alien, Hal would instead rush to Abin Sur's aid looking to help him find rescue. Abin Sur however assured Hal that it was fine and he'd seemingly found peace with his fate. Revealing that he was being directly translated by a glowing ring on his finger, Abin Sur stated that the ring chooses it's wearer and Hal was one of the few candidates on this planet deemed worthy. Encouraging Hal to take the ring, Abin Sur would present Hal with the ring as he deemed him the new protector of the universe.

In his dying moments Abin Sur would urge Hal to use the ring wisely as a Lantern would also appear before Hal. Putting the ring on his finger, Hal would do so and find himself emitting a green glow. Wearing the uniform of the green lantern for the first time, Hal would look to ask Abin Sur questions only to find Abin Sur dead having succumb to his wounds. Yet Hal's journey into the unknown would only begin as his lantern would begin to glow and not long after a green light would wrap itself around Hal Jordan. This light would pull Hal into the air despite Hal's attempts to resist this. The light and lantern would guide Hal to the planet of OA in far outer space. Here Hal would find Sinestro (Sean Harris) waiting for him. Sinestro was completely dismissive of Hal Jordan and his capabilities as a Lantern. Refusing to accept a human as a lantern or as the successor of his friend, Sinestro would go before the Guardians of the Universe.

A powerful race who spawned the Green Lanterns, The guardians would listen to Sinestro's argument before reminding him that it was the ring which deemed Hal worthy and that they would honor this. However it was one of the Guardians by the name of Basilus (Robert Davi) who stated he would be watching Jordan's training closely to see if he was truly worthy of the Lantern. This wouldn't be the only doubter of Hal's credentials as Salaak (Nick Kroll) would also be doubtful that a human can make it through training let alone protecting their sector. Administering the training for Hal would be the imposing Kilowog (Nonzo Alonsie). Very much a drill sergeant character Kilowog had no feelings about Hal either way. With a goal to intimidate and seemingly break Hal, Kilowog would put Hal through the ringer all the while imploring him to quit. However not everyone was against Hal as he'd befriend a scientist by the name of Tomar Re (Hank Azaria). Perhaps the friendliest and at least for Hal his first mentor among the Lanterns.

Tomar Re very much would help Hal understand the gifts that the ring and it's battery afforded while also training him in secret to help his improvement. While Tomar Re's friendship may have been done so in public we'd soon find that Hal had another ally albeit one who he wasn't aware of. Impressed with Hal's drive and refusal to break despite what he put him through, Kilowog had regularly been updating the guardians on his progress and was shown to actually care about Hal. Taking up for Hal in various conflicts with Sinestro and Salaak. Kilowog truly showed himself as someone willing to believe in Hal and the potential he had. Wanting to prove a point to everyone Sinestro would one day agree to train Hal in what he called a sparring session. Despite being greatly out matched and out skilled Hal never quit and his resilience in this losing battle would firmly silence many of his doubters. Having been accepted by the Green Lantern's finally following this Hal would finally meet the guardians in person.

The guardians all would have their own personalities and dynamics with Hal which made for compelling viewing. As while Hal may have impressed many, it must be noted that Basilus was still unsure of Hal Jordan. Deeming humans as a whole as vain creatures who were eons away from being capable of this duty. It seemed that nothing Hal could do would impress Basilus or Salaak for that matter. Appa Ali Aspa (Donald Sutherland), meanwhile may have seemed disinterested but we'd seem deep down that the Guardian was an enigmatic figure who kept his cards close to his chest. Yet it wouldn't be all the Guardians who were unsure of Hal as a duo Ganthet (Patrick Stewart) and Sayd (Whoopi Goldberg) would treat Hal with kindness and respect. Continuing to impress Hal would eventually be named as the official protector of Earth and he would be supervised in his duties for a time by Sinestro.

While Sinestro may not have liked or particularly cared for Hal Jordan. It was in this time that Hal truly grew into his role and matured. This was down to the mentorship of Sinestro who very much took his duties seriously. Once he had graduated this training Hal would return to earth with the knowledge that he could conceal his identity in order to further assist his duties as Green Lantern. Returning to Ferris Air with a cover story of a crash which put him out of radio area, Hal's changes as a person wouldn't go unnoticed especially by Carol who was seemingly caught off guard by this socially conscious side of Hal Jordan. This would add to some previous feelings between the two as their attraction would only grow. Confiding in Tom about what really happened, Hal would state that this is his true chance to honor his family and father's legacy by using his gifts to save and protect others.

While many may have been impressed with Hal's changes, Jack Jordan was still dubious and not as willing to hear his brother out. Jimmy Jordan meanwhile was happy to see this side of Hal and would proudly introduce Hal to his niece and nephew recognizing that his brother was no longer on a death wish like mission. A cut would then take place in the movie and switch to a completely different story for while everything may have been looking great for Hal or at least on the up. The same could not be said for a researcher by the name of Martha Phillips (Ann Dowd). A decorated scientist and researcher who has lived in recluse for a long time. Martha is someone who put her work above everything but sadly thanks to a genetic and deliberating condition, Martha would watch her body begin to grow frail before it's time. Weak and falling into a pit of despair, Martha would see her incomplete research as a sign of failure. Slowly growing consumed by her own fear of being forgotten or lost in time, Martha would begin conducting some unethical experiments and treatments of her own in order to preserve her mind and brain after death.

Using radiation as part of this treatment we'd soon see Martha transform and in her words transcend her weak human form as she'd turn into a monstrous creature made of radiation. Feeling powerful for the first time, Martha's change would see her feel a new feeling instead of fear and that would be hunger for more power. Needing radiation in order to maintain her power and form, Martha would move across Coast City showing little regard for anyone in her way as she'd go on the search for fuel and sustenance. Recognizing the threat that this creature held to his home Hal as the green lantern would confront the beast. While still new to his duties Hal quickly recognized that the beast was losing strength as long as it didn't feed and Hal would use this to his advantage. However during the carnage we'd see Hal stop to save some bystanders allowing Martha to flee.

This however would be a turning point for Martha as her form would only transcend. Recognizing the fear in others and beginning to crave it Martha would begin to feed off the fears of the residents of coast city and would quickly turn into the powerful and monstrous Parallax. Seeing the threat that Parallax would be to his world, Hal would call out to OA and the other lanterns looking for help. Not wishing to see Hal or his planet consumed by fear Ganthet and Sayd wished to help while Basilus remained unwilling deeming the sector Hal's responsibility. Appa Ali Aspa meanwhile wished to see for his own eyes the threat before acting as he'd long heard whispers of beings able to use fear like they use will. As for the Lanterns both Kilowog and Tomar Re would agree to help without hesitation while Sinestro maintained that Jordan should be able to hold his own sector. Realizing he may need to go it alone Hal would confront Parallax who looked to prey on Hal's fear and uncertainty.

Uttering to the mantra of the Lanterns, Hal however would overcome his fear and soon he'd find his willingness to face this monster would inspire others with many pilots from Ferris Air including Herc and Regina as well as Jillian all boarding jets in the hopes to combat this creature. With the airforce providing interference Hal would begin fighting back against Parallax and would be joined by Ganthet, Sayd, Tomar Re and Kilowog to fight the creature. Yet despite the numbers Parallax would still prove formidable until surprisingly Sinestro also entered the fray and proved a true counter to Parallax. Having witnessed the power from OA of Parallax and being unwilling to see any more lanterns fall Sinestro was soon aided by Appa Ali Aspa and it was these two with the help of Hal that they managed to bind and contain Parallax before Appa Ali Aspa would elect to trap Parallax for eternity in the central power battery of OA.

With Parallax defeated many of the Lanterns would return to OA while Green Lantern shared a touching moment with the pilots who helped him as he commended them for their bravery. What Hal wasn't aware of was in these conversations Carol Ferris on watching on would recognize some of his mannerisms despite his disguise. Electing to stay behind on earth, Appa Ali Aspa said he looked forward to exploring the wonders of this world while Hal would also head back to OA. Here Hal would be met with praise from many despite Basilus still remaining doubtful. An impressed Salaak would great Hal and praise him for not giving in before Sinestro shared a touching moment with Hal. Admitting being wrong about Jordan's worth, Sinestro says he is a worthy successor to the legacy of Abin Sur. With that the film would end with Hal reciting the Green Lantern's pledge before things would end with a post credit scene set before Hal become the Green Lantern. This scene would focus on an argument taking place between Abin Sur and Sinestro with Abin Sur calling Sinestro unethical and a disgrace to their pledge. In response Sinestro would stab and mortally wound Abin Sur who'd be forced to flee leading to the crash which took his life and saw Hal named his successor.

BATGIRL IS COMING TO DC EXTENDED UNIVERSE

Continuing to build it's universe and at the moment further expanding the Bat Family. We already know that Batman Year Two will see the arrival of Dick Grayson who will be played by Stranger Things' star Dacre Montgomery. Following up on this announcement we know that Year Two will also act as our introduction to the story of Barbara Gordon in the DC Extended Universe. The adoptive daughter of Jim Gordon, who as her uncle assumed the role of her guardian at a young age. Barbara is described as an academic and someone who is described as incredibly brave and the personification of sheer determination. Barbara is said to be someone who is eager to learn and improve as she studies in the hopes of graduating her criminal justice studies. On top of this Barbara is somehow managing to hold down a job as a librarian while also pursuing a martial arts career as she strives to become a star athlete.

A character who has appeared in many fashion across television, film, video games and animation. It is said that similar to Dick Grayson, there was a lot of debate and deliberation regarding what to do with the role of Barbara Gordon. A big reason to this debate was some felt that Leslie Grace should have been given a true opportunity to portray the role having had her feature film as the aforementioned character cancelled. Yet after much deliberation, it was believed as per many decisions a complete refresh was the best option to be made. The same was also said for Titans star Savannah Welch who was also sadly ruled out of returning to the role. Instead a full on casting call was held for Barbara Gordon with numerous actresses all vying for what was described as a heavily sought after role.

One early named rumored to have auditioned was that of Karen Gillan only for this rumor to later be denied. It was believed that Emma Stone also auditioned for the role but instead DCEU executives are believed to have since taken meetings with Emma about another key role as part of the franchise. A few names we do know who did audition for the role are Erin Kellyman, Natalia Dyer and Abigail Cowen. Two names who were believed to have got to the final audition and screen tests were Sophie Turner and Sadie Sink before eventually a decision was made to cast Jane Levy in the role of Barbara Gordon. The former Shameless actress turned horror Scream Queen was said very much to be always the producers top choice for the role and in her screen tests with both Jim Gordon star Bryan Cranston and Dick Grayson actor Dacre Montgomery, she is said to have fit right in with what writers wanted for the character of Barbara Gordon.

ANOTHER GREEN LANTERN CONFIRMED FOR THE DC EXTENDED UNIVERSE? - SEQUEL TITLE REVEALED

With the first installment of the Green Lantern story complete. It must be noted that reception to the story has been mostly positive. For while the performances of John Krasinski, Odette Annable, Sean Harris and Linda Hamilton among others earned a lot of praise. Some felt that the story at points was a little rushed with the stories main villain being slightly under developed. However appreciation was given to how it's events especially with the post credits would set up future films and stories to keep tabs on. In an exclusive today we can confirm that a sequel has been commissioned with the title believed to be Green Lantern Corps: Blackest Night! This of course indicates that the world building will continue with the introduction of other lanterns.

An announcement has soon followed this which will add to the intrigue surrounding this movie as it has been confirmed that Blackest Night will see the introduction of Guy Gardner to the DC extended universe. A tease for this potential character was delivered in the first film when Hal was told by a dying Abin Sur that there was a few candidates who could replace him before Hal was the one truly chosen. We now know that the other candidate for the mantle of the Green Lantern is that of Guy Gardner who will be making his first live action appearance on film. Without giving too many details away of the iteration of Guy we will see. Sources believe that things will be sticking close to cannon with Guy coming from a troubled home as the son of a former cop.

Believed to have been a one time promising athlete himself before injuries ruined his budding career. Guy is said to have since then been acting as a police officer in Baltimore. It is said that some casting calls have taken place already for the role and character. With many saying that to the outside world Guy will be a red blooded american male but deep down he will have his struggles. A few names believed to have auditioned for the role include Robert Kazinsky, Finn Wittrock and Sean William Scott. It is said of the names mentioned there Finn Wittrock was early one seen as a contender for the role before a new choice was made.

cam_gigandet.jpg

It can be confirmed today that actor Cam Gigandet will officially be joining the DC extended universe in the role of Guy Gardner. This of course will not be the first time that Gigandet has played a troubled alpha male like star as he memorably starred as the villain in Never Back Down. On top of this Cam has made appearances in films such as Twilight, The Magnificent Seven as well as TV series the OC. While details are scarce it is believed that this sequel to Green Lantern is also designed to set up a future solo film for Guy Gardner.

SUPERGIRL COMING TO DC EXTENDED UNIVERSE

With the DC Extended Universe beginning to enter it's second stage at the completion of it's first Justice League film. Sequels have been confirmed for the second stage and have began to get titles which are beginning to tease their stories. We now know that the sequel to Superman will be titled Escape from Bizarro World which indicates a potential Bizarro appearance in this sequel film. Early talks have also indicated there are plans to introduce the villainous Cyborg Superman to the DC extended universe on top of this. Yet while these are just talks and superstition, one thing we do know for certain is that joining the DC Extended Universe will be the character of Kara Danvers/Kara Zor-El aka Supergirl.

The cousin of Clark Kent, we'd learn that Kara's family sent her away from Argo City in a pod similar to what Clark's family sent him away in. Unfortunately the explosion of Krypton would send Kara's pod of course and lead her drifting through space for decades. In this travel Kara would never age meaning that her infant cousin would now technically be older than her. After being stuck in an endless loop of suspended animation in space, Kara's ship would fully right it's course and she would end up finally making her way to earth. Here she would be reunited with her cousin and very much be a fish out of water as she looked to become acclimated to the ways of Earth.

While many hoped that Melissa Benoist would reprise her role as the titular character. Sadly to some fans' disappointment again this would be ruled out thanks to writers looking for a total overhaul. A few names we do know however who did audition for the role included Lili Reinhart, Samara Weaving, Kiernan Shipka and Haley Lu Richardson. All of whom were suggested to have performed well in the audition process but didn't quite pass the screen test. A surprising name who also auditioned and was believed at one stage to be a leading contender was that of Agents of Shield Star Chloe Bennett who sadly wound up being ruled out thanks to scheduling conflicts.

Saoirse-Ronan-2019.jpg

However in some exciting news revealed today. Writers and producers managed to achieve what has been dubbed as their dream selection Saorise Ronan has signed on to play the part of the titular role. This will be a break from the norm for the Irish-American actress who is used period pieces in her career post adolescence. Ronan is a multi award winning actress and is believed to be a major get for the DC Extended Universe who has plans to produce a series of solo films for Supergirl while also having her appear alongside her cousin.

DARKSEID COMING TO DC EXTENDED UNIVERSE

In some exciting news revealed today, we now know that Darkseid will in fact be making future appearances as part of the DC extended universe. This is a big announcement as it is believed that Darkseid is seen as the big bad across the entire DC universe and will very much be a multi story arc character whose name on mention alone will send shockwaves throughout the universe. It is believed that while he may not personally appear in films for some time now, Darkseid will be teased and later mentioned to further build up anticipation for his arrival to the series. While details do remain scarce on just what capacity Darkseid will be used to begin with, we do know that with his announcement we also know for a fact that many of his soldiers and allies will be appearing in some form or another throughout the DC extended Universe.

This will not be the first live appearance of Darkseid on screen, as the titular villain has memorably made appearances as part of the Zach Snyder cut of the Justice League and also in the television series of Smallville. Writers and producers have described the character for this interpretation of Darkseid to be cold and calculated. Described as a contemptuous and hateful individual who loathes other species. Darkseid is described as a force of pure negative energy and emotions who gains power through fear and also the suffering and anguish he puts others through. This includes over those most loyal to him as he will do whatever it takes to achieve his true goal of complete and utter control of all the worlds. In order to do so however he has a mission and this is why Darkseid is believed to be sending soldiers and forces out in search of what he is looking for.

We know further in this exclusive reveal that Darkseid's origin will firmly be expanded on and his rise to power in Apokolips. It is said when it came to selecting an actor to act as the voice of Darkseid. Producers were willing to utilize body doubles should they need but were preferring someone willing to don the make up and prosthetics to bring Darkseid to life. Seeking someone with a true gravitas in their voice a few early names considered for the role includes Jason Isaacs, Andre Braugher and Ving Rhames. However it is said that a recent casting call for Martian Manhunter would bring forth the eventual selection for this role as we'd see someone with exprience in the superhero genre previously from the MCU.

It can be confirmed today that none other than Idris Elba will be the individual set to voice Darkseid. It's said that Idris' recent performance as Krall in the Star Trek films truly sold writers on his capabilities for this role and his interest in Martian Manhunter showed that he'd have no problem with the makeup or costumes his character would wear. While details remain scarce, sources do indicate that Idris has been signed to a multi picture contract in a similar vain to the actors who have been announced as playing the hero roles in the DC so far.

As we all know following a recent release the feature film which follows this will be our first crossover event as our heroes gather for the first Justice League film. Now however while details still of the plot remain limited we have learned of one other new addition to the cast which might indicate just what we can expect from this film. As we can confirm that the villain Despero will be making an appearance in the Justice League film also. This of course will not be Despero's first ever live action showing, as the character was previously featured in the arrowverse as part of it's armaggedon storyline.

img_3126.jpeg

Described as a ruthless tyrant who encounters the Justice League and immediately feels threatened by their gifts. Despero looks to challenge the Justice League as he wishes to prove his superiority against such powerful opponents. Set to voice and perform motion capture for the role of Despero will be actor Chukwudi Iwuji. The Nigerian-British actor isn't a stranger to the superhero genre as he previously appeared as the titular villain in Marvel's Guardians on the Galaxy 3 while also appearing in season one of Peacemaker. On top of this Iwuji has credits in films such as John Wick 2 while also starring in shows such as When they See us.

On top of this a outline has been released which reveals all the titles of the second chapter of the DC extended universe. Donna Troy casting confirmed ahead of Wonder Woman Sequel!

With the DC extended universe beginning to enter it's second chapter. We have already received confirmation of just what to expect from it's second chapter. This would include details for the sequel to the first Wonder Woman film as part of this new DC extended universe. With the titular character played by Jaime Alexander returning to the franchise. On top of Jaime Alexander we know that Josh Duhamel, Channing Tatum, Orla Brady, Elodie Yung, Nicole Beharie, Oliver Stark, Rachel Weisz, Colin Firth, Tracy Spiridakos, Rose Leslie, Laurie Holden, Kate Winslet, Naomi Campbell and Sophie Marceau will all be returning as Steve Trevor, Maxwell Lord, Etta Candy, Artemis, Nubia, Phobos, Doctor Poison, Phil Darnell, Mala, Orana, Antiope, Hippolyta, Phillipus and Paula Von Gunther respectively. It is believed that this second film will begin with Diana returning to Themyscira having defeated Ares (Daniel Craig). Having shown her growth as a warrior and hero, Diana has greatly escaped the early impression of being the Queen's daughter and being gifted nepotism.

It is believed that this will be a big part of this second film's story as we see Diana's continued growth as a hero and warrior. Unfortunately her defeat of Ares has led to a villainous sect known as Villainy Incorporated to form in an effort to combat the Amazonian threat. This threat will bring Diana back to the world of man where she will be reunited with Steve Trevor, Etta Candy and several other of her allies. Yet this time Diana will not be coming alone as she will be bringing with her a protégé. Because on seeing her daughter's growth and wishing to mold her further, Hippolyta would task Diana with mentoring a spirited young amazon and training her to be as skilled of a warrior as she is. This young woman of course will be Donna Troy who we know will have her biography retconned as per this new series of the DC extended universe. Described to be a young Amazonian who is quick to temper but at the same time has shown a compassion quick to Diana. Believed to have come from more humbler beginnings than Diana in Themyscira, Donna Troy is someone that Antiope herself doesn't believe will be as phased by the man world as Diana.

With this news and description of the character released, we do know that originally there was talk of bringing Conor Leslie from the Titans series in to play this version of Donna Troy. Instead overtime a decision was made to stick to the trend of a restart with the characters. A few early names rumored to have auditioned for the part include Naomi Scott (Now rumored to be appearing in the Martian Manhunter film), Odeya Rush and Dianna Agron. One name we did know who met with producers was Amber Midthunder who was believed to be a leading contender for the role. However sadly due to scheduling conflicts, the Prey actress wasn't available to take the role. However as a few more names were thrown around, eventually we'd come to find an old rumor had been confirmed.

sigh-ella-balinska.gif

This rumor had dated back to the original casting call that actress Ella Balinska had greatly impressed writers and directors with her audition. Thanks in part to her 5'11 height and also her combat experience, the resident evil actress was long said to be put on a short list for some future DC roles. Now it can be confirmed following a sit down conversation as well as a screen test that Ella Balinska will finally be apart of this new DC universe as she will star as Donna Troy in Wonder Woman II: Villainy Incorporated.

SEND IN THE CLOWNS

With Aquaman suffering some delays down to writer's strikes which have gripped Hollywood as of late. The DC's rebirth has temporarily been halted at least until now. As the DC Extended Universe has come out of the gate with news of one of it's biggest and most anticipated castings yet. As while the plot has been announced and unveiled for Year Two of the Batman storyline. We now can confirm that Year Three will focus on the arrival of Batman's greatest and most noted foe The Joker. The clown prince of crime is believed by design to have been held off from appearing in the first two movies of the Batman storyline in a design to help grow the universe and further build up anticipation for his arrival. It has been said that a secret casting call was held for this role with several screen tests alongside Batman star Wes Bentley.

Of course these extra measures were put in place due to the surging in notoriety and popularity for the character. This of course is because of past performances by actors such as Heath Ledger and Jack Nicholson who set the bar for the character. It is said that in conversation about what to do with the Joker, it was quickly decided to not try and merge Joaquin Phoenix's project with the DCEU. This is in part to no one wanting to impede one another's vision for the role. Two other names quickly refuted for the role was Jared Leto and Cameron Monaghan. While Leto was in early discussion to be given one last chance in the role. Again it was decided to use a fresh face for the role. However in regards to Cameron Monaghan and his impressive performance in the Gotham series. We do believe that serious conversation was given to this before instead Cameron was offered a different role with the DC extended universe.

A couple of names who we do know were invited to try out for the role were Kodi Smit-McPhee, Daniel Radcliffe, Steve Zahn and Skeet Ulrich. Surprisingly and controversially after one meeting there was potentially some talk of gender swapping the joker for one Aubrey Plaza who's work on Legion greatly won over writers. A leading contender for the role however was said to be Hugh Dancy. Who thanks to his performance in Hannibal had shown himself to be greatly capable of the raw mix of emotions that bring the Joker together. Yet again similar to Cameron it is believed that Hugh Dancy has since been pegged for another role with the DCEU. However it's said bar Hugh, one name stood head and shoulders above the rest as we can now confirm that Joseph Gilgun will be starring in the role of the Joker.

jqfSIdWObtCOlab-800x450-noPad.jpg

This of course will not be Joseph Gilgun's first entry into the DC comic book universe as he made a memorable impression in the hit show Preacher as the vampire Cassidy. Shown to have great comedic timing on top of being able to portray dark characters. What is said to have won writers and producers over was in fact Gilgun's role in Guy Pearce's action film Lockout. In this film Gilgun played a terrifying villain who was unpredictable and capable to to keep everyone on their toes with every movement. It is believed that Gilgun has signed up for a multipicture role with the DCEU similar to Idris Elba who recently joined as the villainous Darkseid.

Hey that is me :) thank you for the kind words. I really appreciate what you said. Is it the marvel story you was looking for the ending for? As sadly I did lose that work with the end of WC but I do have an outline of what I had left to tell and how it'd weave in. Happy to message you that if you'd like me to :)

Yes thank you that would be very much appreciated. I actually downloaded the pages before WC shut down, along with your gcs. So I can read them anytime.
