While details still remain scarce about the movie we know that Kathy Bates, Mark Hamill, Ron Pearlman, Crispin Glover, Charlize Theron, Rami Malek and Rupert Grint have been cast in undisclosed roles. However we can now confirm the casting of the lead antagonist for the movie The Queen of Fables.

Rosamund-Pike-starrer-fantasy-series-The-Wheel-Of-Time-to-premiere-on-Amazon-Prime-Video-in-2021-413x300.jpg

Set to be played by award winning actress Rosamund Pike, the Queen of Fables is described as a sorceress from another dimension who had long been bound in chains having been defeated by a princess from her own realm. Freed from her chains by an unknown entity and thrust into this world with a mission. The sorceress quickly turns dreams to nightmares as she begins to attack with creatures from out of her fairytale kingdom. It's said that when it came to casting for this role Pike was at the top of the director's wishlist thanks to them believing she'd be more than capable of portraying the sinister, regal nature of the Queen of Fables herself.

Presents
220px-Superman_Man_of_Steel_1.jpg

SUPERMAN: THE MAN OF STEEL
Unlike the story of Year One which began with a set date and time, Superman: The Man of Steel would instead begin on a totally different planet. This of course being the planet of Krypton. Shown to be a beautiful planet with an idyllic way of life. Krypton as a whole was a planet that was devoted to expansion and growth. Focusing heavily on research and development, Krypton had been heavily noted for it's scientific achievement. This would include a soon surefire way to prolong Kryptonian life with a Kryptonian cloning program. Believed to be operating on a caste system of sorts with it's inhabitants all assigned to guilds. Two of the most prominent guilds in Krypton would be it's science guild and also it's military guild. While for eons Krypton had lived in harmony, we'd learn that recently things had been a lot less copacetic thanks in part to a war which had broken out between Kryptonians and Daxamites.

This war would eventually lead to the end of any potential peace talks or alliances as the Daxamites were banished from Krypton and forced to create their own civilization of Daxam. Sadly the war however had taken it's toll as with a lowered population it meant that those still able were forced to work extra. Of course the real issue raised with the ever growing amounts of radiation that the planet has been over run by. One person who was concerned about this was lead scientist Jor-El (Adrian Pasdar) who sought to solve their issues at all costs. Trying to warn others about the core of the planet being made unstable by the radiation, many wouldn't listen to Jax. Yet soon he'd find an ally and believer in Dru-Zod (Richard Armitage). While often time the Guilds may not be cohesive in there ways, the head of the military guild General Zod very much believed that things needed to change.

A one time loyal soldier to Krypton. It appears that Zod recently had began to have his doubts regarding the order of the planet. This was capped off with an encounter with a rogue Kryptonian criminal Jax-Ur (Jonathan Pryce). A long time doomsday preacher who had spoken of Krypton's destruction, while it may have been Jax-Ur's warnings which struck the match. It was Jor-El's findings which told Zod that the time for change was now! This would lead to General Zod and his army launching a hostile attack plan to overthrow Krypton. One of Zod's first acts was an attempt to recruit Jor-El to his side, in response to this request however Jor-El would refuse branding Zod a terrorist and this an act of madness. In retaliation of this Zod personally stabbed Jor-El in the stomach mortally wounding him before he and his soldiers would continue the attack on Krypton. What they misjudged however would be Jor-El's devotion to his wife and son. In his dying moments Jor-El and his wife Lara (Rachel Nichols) would make the decision to send their son to earth in the hopes to save him from the chaos which broke out on their planet.

With his rebellion halted and many of his men killed, General Zod was left with but a few soldiers including Non (Nathan Jones), Quex-Ul (Will Yun Lee) and Ursa (Emily Mortimer). Along with these would be Zod's right hand woman Faora (Aya Cash) and also criminal Jax-Ur (Jonathan Pryce) who had joined Zod's side. With Lara a former military captain herself who had served by Zod's side once previous. She now assumed command over the military guild of Krypton and it would be her that determined that Zod and his people would be sentenced for life imprisonment in the real known as the Phantom Zone. Tragically this would be one of Krypton's last acts as a sustainable planet as the core per Jor-El's warnings would overload and the planet would explode killing all of it's last surviving residents. Thankfully as we'd learn this wouldn't be the end of Krypton entirely as it's last son Kal-El having been sent to earth by Jor-El and Lara would be discovered by a couple Jonathan Kent (Steve Carrell) and his wife Martha (Laura Linney).
Shown to be a loving couple who tragically were never unable to conceive a child of their own. Jonathan and Martha Kent may have had some concerns or shall we say reasons to be cautious at first of this delivery from the sky. However after some deliberation and conversation they agreed to see Kal's arrival as a blessing from the gods and raised him as their own son who they named Clark. While Clark's early years may have been formulative, as he grew in Smallville we'd come to see that because of the yellow son he'd be gifted with a wide range of powers and abilities. Again this would cause slight concern and worry for the Kent's but mainly down to Clark's safety above all else. However rather than have him be ashamed of them Jonathan and Martha supportively helped Clark master them with some training. Believing that if Clark could control his powers he'd be able to blend in and not be ostracized for being different. Shown to be loving caring parents who did all they could to nurture him. It was from Jonathan that Clark learned the ethics and values of hard work along with honesty and honor. While it was Martha who taught Clark to be considerate, loving and caring and gave him a want to help others with his gifts when he was ready.

While echoing Jonathan's words of restraint Clark was a fairly average student when it came to sports and physical education. However he more than made up for that in his studies thanks to the work ethic he'd have been taught by Jonathan. Along the way Clark would make a couple of friends at school with the closest being Pete Ross (Tobey Maguire). Now while this may all sound like the standard high school story it wasn't entirely without incident. One notable incident would see a bus crash which Clark was able to prevent. While many of the students failed to see this it was believed that Pete Ross caught glimpse of Clark in action but never said anything to Clark or anyone else. Finishing college and graduating with a degree in journalism. Clark would soon be offered a chance to start afresh in the big city of Metropolis much to the delight of his parents who were deeply proud of what he had achieved and worked so hard for. This role would be with the Daily Planet and it has to be said having grown up far away from the big city that Metropolis was quite the adjustment for Clark.

On his arrival to the Daily Planet, Clark however would quickly impress his boss Perry White (Jimmy Smits). White very much was a mentor for Clark and he'd help Clark not just settle in at the Daily Planet but also in this big city. Along with Perry White, Clark would befriend a reporter Ron Troupe (Echo Kellum). Troupe was a politics writer and shown to be a hard worker and consummate professional. Unfortunately the same could not be said for sports writer Steve Lombard (Chace Crawford), the former football player turned writer was shown to be quite the detestable individual. Arrogant and brash, Lombard in some ways would be your standard jock bully as he seemed to take pleasure in mocking Troupe. Despite these changes and moves Clark never lost sight of who he was and where he came from as he'd often return home and visit his family with tales of the city. On top of this Clark would maintain his friendship with Pete Ross. During one of his many returns to Smallville, Clark would actually reveal that he couldn't stay in the the shadows much longer and felt he had to do something.

During this conversation with Martha Clark would learn that his mother had gone as far as to develop Clark a costume. One which she was inspired by what her and Jonathan had uncovered from Clark's ship had developed him a suit which was based off of his Earth One attire. This would very much be a turning point in the story as Clark would be shown the ship that he landed in for the first time since his birth. Looking over the ship and what it contained Clark managed to activate a tracking device on his ship. This device would hone onto a Kryptonian beacon in the artic. In an instant Clark flew to the artic and managed to locate the beacon which was buried beneath the ice. This Kryptonian research center may have been buried for decades but it would be a great support system for Clark as his bunker for operations which he'd name the fortress of solitude. Containing a variety of old Krypton technology. This included a robotic caretaker Kelex (Steve Blum) who recognized Kal-El's DNA and played him a series of videos of his father Jor-El and mother Lara explaining his heritage. Through these and a series of holograms of his father, Clark began to understand his capabilities and powers all the more.

Looking to honor the Kents and the house of El, Clark Kent began stepping into the field as a protector for those in Metropolis. While at first he would be just a nameless hero for his antics, during a meeting with the staff of the Daily Planet which appeared to be every growing with interest of this proclaimed man of steel. It was hot shot reporter Lois Lane (Allison Brie) who first coined the moniker Superman for this hero. To say Clark was immediately taken by the driven, determined and dedicated reporter would be an understatement but he was hardly on her radar as a lowly new reporter from Smallville. Yet soon he'd find another woman to catch his eye in Cat Grant (Halle Berry). A divorced single mother and friend of Ron Troupe, Cat Grant was a budding journalist in her own right who saw Lois Lane as competition. Shown to be a confident woman unafraid of taking the first step. Cat Grant would be the one who made the first move as she asked Clark on a date.

In what was quite a refreshing take in a film which was the total 180 from the dark, gritty story of Year One. While we'd see Clark and Cat have quite a pleasant evening they would lack the compatibility to be anymore than just friends. Yet rather than let this be their downfall the duo would grow into a strong friendship with the pair often seen meeting for drinks afterwork along with Ron Troupe. It wouldn't just be as Clark however that he'd find some admirers with one notable person intrigued by the man of steel being business magnate Lex Luthor (Denzel Washington). The powerful mogul made it known that he was very intrigued with Superman and wished to help him in his mission. Sadly while Lex's interest in Superman may have been noble, the same could not be said for Gerard Shugel (Robert Carlyle). Shown to be an embittered, disabled researcher for Lexcorp. Shugel truly coveted power and he'd begin experimenting on himself with his own research which kickstarted a horrifying transformation.

To say public perception to Superman was one that was greatly mixed in this time would be an understatement. As while Superman had many fans among the public, news and police. He also had his detractors one of which was special detective Maggie Sawyer (Sienna Miller) who had personally sworn to bring the Man of Steel to justice. Along with her was General Sam Lane (Clancy Brown) who was not a fan whatsoever of an alien working in his hometown. Especially when he considered his daughter Lois covering his every move as a great risk. One ally Superman did have was detective William Henderson (Danny Glover). A veteran detective who had seen it all in his day, William Henderson may not have had experience with aliens but he knew when someone was genuinely trying to help and at points he'd serve as a source of intel for Superman as he continued to help Metropolis as best he could.

Soon however Superman wouldn't have to contend with regular crooks or thugs. As thanks to his research and experimentation Shugel was transformed into the beastly Ultra Humanite. A primitive being which looked similar to that of an Albino Ape, Shugel had finally cured his disability but in doing so had forfeit his humanity. Going on a rampage as he looked to rule Metropolis. The Ultra Humanite would go on a rampage throughout the city. Attempts to stop this beastly powerhouse were in vain as the Metropolis police department didn't have the munitions for this battle. Yet it would be Superman who proved more than capable to fight against this creature. As we'd see Shugel in this form possessed berserker strength which was more than a match for Superman. Yet while he may have been as strong what Shugel didn't have was flight and Superman would take advantage of this bringing the fight into the skies before dropping the Humanite to the ground.

With the Humanite beaten Superman would finally earn the acceptance of the Metropolis police department entirely with Maggie Sawyer even impressed with what she saw from him. General Lane however still needed some convincing of putting his entire trust in an alien but he did congratulate him on a job well done before remarking that the government has places that they can throw him without him ever escaping. Of course with this news getting out that the Ultra Humanite was Gerard Shugel, Lexcorp had a public relations nightmare. This would be until Lex Luthor's assistant Mercy Graves (Anna Kendrick) revealed she had handled it and documents would soon surface further debasing the scientist while claiming he'd left Lex Corp silently months before. It would also be in conversation with Lex that Mercy revealed that she'd personally ensured that any research or notes of what Shugel was doing, she'd kept hidden in their archives should they wish to revisit.

While he may have earned the acceptance of many of his strongest doubters. Things would soon take a drastic turn for Superman in ways he might not even expect. As with the world talking about their new hero. Soon we'd learn that all this talk of a Kryptonian would attract the interest of some other residents from his former homeland. As having managed to reverse engineer a kryptonian war ship General Zod and his crew had escaped the phantom zone. Thanks to the difference in regards to time in the phantom zone, the group of soldiers hadn't aged in their time there and they would travel through space on the hunt for the son of Jor-El and Lara to make him pay for the sins of their parents. In catching some broadcast signals and reports of this hero the kryptonians would head to earth and we'd begin to see more of the personalities that made up this rogue kryptonian faction.

As while General Zod remained solely focused on the task at hand. We'd begin to see how the others would begin to acclimatize to earth. For Faora earth was her new hunting ground where she could satiate her murderous urges. Whereas Jax-Ur began to see potential for a new krypton. Zod's scientist Ursa (Emily Mortimer) meanwhile was far from impressed with what she saw as a technically inferior planet. Her husband Non (Nathan Jones) meanwhile was a silent brooding figure with many teases for exaclty what caused his mindless silence. The most intriguing of the reactions was from Quex-El (Will Yun Lee). Of the soldiers it had been teased in the early going that Quex wasn't as on board with General Zod's plans as the others. On his arrival to the earth Quex instead would begin to see the beauty of it all the while he'd begin to see the horror in Zod's ways. Before we'd get to their arrival in Metropolis however we'd be treated to the first ever scene between Lex Luthor and Superman.

Having pulled a lot of strings to get this meeting, Lex was all smiles as he claimed that they could be great friends. Superman however was doubtful not entirely trusting Lex's motivations or quite believing his story about Shugel. With Superman at least for now unwilling to align their forces, Lex remained all smiles as he told Superman to think things through. Adding to Superman's concerns about Lex was his work at the Daily Planet alongside Lois Lane. Joining them in this work would be Ron Troupe and Cat Grant as they began to question Lex Corp's stance on the Ultra Humanite and also some of the money trail they'd found regarding his company. Unfortunately what they wasn't ready for was the fact that Lex had a mole in the Planet. This being one of the most trusted and experienced reporters that the Planet has by the name of George Taylor (Olivier Martinez). One of it's longest running reporters Taylor had recently seen his personal life crumble and out of desperation he sold his soul to Lex. Now he'd be personally feeding Lex all the information and dirt that was being found on him.

This allowed Lex to stay ahead of the game with his image and his dealings. As one key person that Lois wished to speak to was mayor Frank Berkowitz (Ola Rapace). Berkowitz for his part had little interest in talking with Lois as we'd learn that he firmly was under Lex's thumb apparently just like many in Metropolis. In fact it could be argued that Frank wasn't truly the mayor of Metropolis but that Lex was. Armed with the veiled threat that he could easily be replaced Frank Berkowitz was full of fear at what would happen to him if he chose to cross Lex Luthor. As we'd soon find however Lex wouldn't be the only problem that Metropolis would face as General Zod and his forces would arrive. At first Zod would try to call themselves a peaceful arrival. A group of enforcement officers looking to capture a rogue Kryptonian. Yet this story raised doubts from the Metropolis police department and Sam Lane who by this point had seen that Superman wasn't a threat.

Superman having heard the stories of Krypton's destruction and Zod's betrayal knew that this wasn't some peaceful visit and that even if they had him. Zod and his soldiers would not leave peacefully. Showing his inexperience Superman jumped right into battle against the Kryptonians. While his powers and theres were equal we'd quickly see the skill difference as Faora made a point by electing to fight Superman on her own. The sadistic Faora proved herself to be a fearsome combatant who utilized pressure points and joint manipulations as part of her attacks to nullify her much larger foe. Beaten and bloodied for the first time Superman was only able to escape death thanks to the earth's atmosphere beginning to overload Zod and his soldier's senses. This spared Superman's life as Zod and his soldiers were forced to quickly leave having endured significant pain. While Zod's group looked to cure themselves of this condition Superman was helped by Lois Lane in secret who helped nurse him back to health. Showing how much he trusted her Superman would bring her to the fortress of solitude before she'd reveal that she'd been aware he was Clark for a while.

This led to the pair growing even closer as Superman would begin to doubt if he could defeat Zod and his army. Yet as he'd tell her he may not need to win in order to save everyone. All he needs to do is ensure that Zod and his soldiers are returned to the phantom zone. Even if it meant sacrificing himself to do so. Yet soon we'd see a couple of surprising turns in the story from Zod's troup. The first of which would see Jax-Ur visit Lex Luthor, having done his research and become aware of Lex's power and influence saw him as someone who could help institute a new world order. In doing so Jax-Ur during this conversation would not only tell Lex all about krypton and their dna. But he'd provide him with some kryptonian technology which he told him to look into. As we'd find however Jax-Ur had grown quite frustrated with this revenge mission and instead wished to conquer. His betrayal wouldn't go unnoticed however as Quex personally turned him into Zod who allowed Faora to cut down Jax personally.

Despite his misgivings about Zod's plots and methods, we'd learn that Quex had another reason for turning in Jax-Ur. It was an attempt to prove loyalty as there had been doubts about his devotion to the cause. Of course as we'd find Quex wasn't onboard with the plans and he'd instead elect to seek out Superman. Finding the Fortress of Solitude, Quex would reveal that he was one of the men that helped his father build this place and he'd personally hoped that Kal would find this place. Expressing his regret at Zod's rebellion, it was during this conversation Quex said that he wasn't the only one to go against Zod. Revealing that Non had previously had doubts until he was lobotomized by his own wife. Understanding that Superman has no reason to trust him and nor should he, Quex says he is here to warn him that Zod is solely focused on revenge and he will tear the planet apart to do so. As much as he'd like to save Non, he sadly states that the damage appears to be done.

Willing to trust Quex the two come up with a plan to draw Zod and his soldiers away from the city knowing that Zod would have little issue in killing innocents. They would draw them to the Fortress and then trap Zod and his soldiers in the Phantom Zone. Willing to use himself as bait knowing that Zod would not tolerate a traitor, Quex says that he believes they will be so focused on him that Superman can catch them off guard. To say Quex was proven right when he appeared before Zod and his soldiers would be an understatement with the general out raged at someone standing against him. Believing this to be it for his time on earth Clark would share a farewell with Lois who would kiss him on the cheek before leaving what was to be this battle site. Brought to the fortress it seemed that the Kryptonian soldiers were very surprised to encounter a kryptonian bunker. Adding to their surprise would be holograms of Jor-El and Lara appearing. While taken aback Zod still remained assured of himself that his revenge would be complete with killing Kal before his parents once they'd handled the traitor.

To say that Zod and his soldiers were caught off guard by Quex and Superman working together would be an understatement. Yet soon they'd encounter a new surprising issue as following several hard blows to the head it appeared that Non began to remember his old self. This would turn the tide of the battle with Non personally strangling and snapping the neck of Ursa for what she did to him before tragically his life would be cut short thanks to Faora. During this skirmish however Clark was able to activate a vortex to the phantom zone. This powerful vortex would begin pulling all four kryptonian's towards it with Faora unable to grab a hold of anything as she'd be sucked into it. Using his own weaponry to pull himself along, Zod remained focused on his mission as he advanced towards Kal. Proving himself to be a truly good ally to Kal, Quex would shockingly sacrifice himself and his position as he lunged towards Zod sending them both through the portal and into the phantom zone. With all his might Kal would then manage to seal the vortex shut trapping Zod and his soldiers back in the phantom zone.

Having saved Metropolis and the world from the threat of Zod and his people. Superman was now fully recognized as a hero with a ceremony hosted by Frank Berkowitz. During which Superman would be recognized by police commissioner David Corporan (Julian Glover). During this ceremony Lois Lane attempted once more to talk with Berkowitz who fearfully would this time agree to talk with the reporter. Yet in the final scenes of the movie which focused on a meeting between Lex Luthor and David Corporon who was revealed to also be under his pay role. We'd see flashes of Metropolis PD abandoning their post to guard Berkowitz which allowed Mercy Graves time to shoot down the mayor. In the closing moments Lex's proclaimed that it was time to show the world that Superman wasn't a god nor is he as powerful as he thinks. Instead the world should recognize him as their god.

Superman sequel announced - New cast member revealed - Plot details to come

Following it's successful first outing as the second film in the DCEU rebirth project. It has been announced today that a second film in the Superman series has been announced. Praised for it's effects as well as a gripping performance by Denzel Washington as Lex Luthor. This sequel is not a surprised to be announced and a title has been announced giving us a slight tease as to it's storyline. Entitled Bizarro world sources indicate that this film will very much introduce Bizarro to the DCEU. Along with Bizarro we know that Metallo and Cyborg Superman are believed to be hitting the big screen for this movie. In some exciting news a big new casting has been announced for this movie as multi award winning actress Saoirse Ronan has been confirmed to star in the film in a too be announced role. On top of this following the success of Man of Steel, two spin offs have been confirmed to feature on HBO max.

Lane (Lois Lane miniseries)

Praised for both her performance as the dogged reporter Lois Lane and on screen chemistry with Matt Bomer's superman. We know that for the first time ever a solo series has been confirmed focusing on Daily Planet reporter Lois Lane. Continuing right from where Man of Steel left off, this series will begin with focus on Lois' research into Lex Luthor. As we'd soon find however things out of Lois' control would take her away from this investigation and into a more dangerous story of her own. It can be confirmed that Sienna Miller, Echo Kellum, Jimmy Smits, Clancy Brown and Halle Berry will be reprising their roles as Maggie Sawyer, Ron Troupe, Perry White, Sam Lane and Cat Grant respectively. On top of this it can be confirmed that Nathan Fillion will be joining the cast as a disgraced reporter named Raymond Maxwell Jenson while comedian Mike Myers will also be featuring in an undisclosed role. It is believed we will also see the first appearances of Lucy Lane and Dana Dearden in this series as well.

Metropolis S.C.U (Maggie Sawyer television special)

Along with a miniseries for Lois Lane there will be a television special dedicated to the Metropolis Special Crimes Unit. This task force which is led by Maggie Sawyer (Sienna Miller) will focus heavily on Maggie and her rise in the Metropolis police department. It is believed this show will feature William Henderson and David Corporon who were both played by Danny Glover and Julian Glover respectively. DCEU 2023 REBIRTH

MY FAVORITE MARTIAN

In some continued world building for this new iteration of the DC Extended Universe, The first movie for the second phase of the DCEU story has been revealed today. As joining the impressive roster of Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, The Flash, Green Lantern and Aquaman will be Martian Manhunter. While this will not be the first time that we'll see a live action Martian Manhunter, with the character appearing both in Supergirl and the Snyder cut. This will be the first ever live action Martian Manhunter movie. While both David Harewood and Harry Lennix did admirable work with their roles, we know that as per the trend with this rebirth that a total new casting has been made for the titular character.

It is said that there was a strenuous audition process for this role with a lot of deliberation regarding who could successfully portray the role and do the character justice. Andrew Ryan went as far to describe martian manhunter as one of the most level headed members of the Justice League who acts as a mentor to many with his sage advice and wisdom. Described as quite the stoic figure especially when appearing in his human form as J'onn J'onzz. Yet it's said cracks in this demeanor appear when in combat as J'onn is perhaps the most fierce combatant of the league yet.

Some of the early front runners for the role included Peter Mensah, Lance Reddick, Colman Domingo and Lamonica Garrett. It is believed that Idris Elba also auditioned for the role but instead head producer Andrew Ryan has in fact offered him an entirely different role. Instead we can confirm that the role has in fact been taken by another actor who has some previous superhero movie experience. As stepping into the role will be Sterling K. Brown. The multiple award winning actor was said to be the odds on favorite thanks to his audition as he was said to be more than capable of portraying the character among the rest of the group.

INTRODUCING WONDER WOMAN
Continuing this world building narrative we have seen so far as part of this DC Extended Universe's rebirth. This time we wouldn't go to another planet but instead we would go to an island and meet an entire new race of people. The location of this island would be Themyscira which to it's natives was also referred to as paradise Island. Reminiscent of ancient Greece with their attire and weaponry. Themyscira was a perfect society of Amazons built on peace, equality and tolerance. The Amazons were all goddesses equipped with strength, beauty, wisdom and love. The founders of Themyscira would be Queen Hippolyta (Kate Winslet) and her sister Antiope (Laurie Holden).

The elder sister of the pair it was Hippolyta who served as the queen and ruler of Themyscira. Antiope meanwhile would act as a combat instructor for the Amazons and would prove herself to be an exceptional Hunter. Leading the Amazonian army would be General Philipus (Naomi Campbell). While at times Hippolyta and her sister would come into conflict with one another. Philipus' loyalty and servitude was never in question. Along with being the leader of the Amazon military Philipus was the head of the royal guard and was also Hippolyta's lover. Together the pair would raise the queen's daughter Diana. It would be with Diana we'd see more tension arise between Hippolyta and Antiope. This was down to Hippolyta wishing to shield Diana from the evils of the man world and the outside of their island. While Antiope instead wished to school Diana just like any other Amazon.

This is why Antiope would begin to train Diana in secret with Diana proving herself to be an exceptional warrior. Yet on learning of this training the queen was far from happy. Yet she would soon listen to reason when Philipus would compliment Diana's abilities. Expressing her pride at Diana's work, Hippolyta would allow Diana to train with the rest of the Amazons. Here Diana would make a close friend Mala (Tracy Spiridakos). A caring individual who sought to help others better themselves. Mala was the perfect friend for Diana and would act at points as her personal sounding board. She'd also be a great source of inspiration when Diana began to doubt herself. This would be especially caused by Diana's rival Orana (Rose Leslie). Orana was highly dismissive of Diana believing her to have only gotten this far because of her lineage.

Wanting to tell Diana the truth of her lineage, Antiope would quickly be silenced by Hippolyta who swore her to secrecy for when Diana was ready. Until that time we'd see one other rival for Diana appear this time one of Philipus' soldiers Artemis (Elodie Yung). Arguably one of the fiercest warriors that Themyscira had seen. Artemis was looked upon as a successor for Philipus and her rivalry with Diana was more about competition than personal distaste. Yet soon the Amazons would have a lot more on their plate than just a petty squabble as one day while her and Mala were exploring the island they would see a plane crash on it's outskirts. This plane would belong to fighter pilot Steve Trevor (Josh Duhamel) who was shot down in a fire fight. While to Diana this outsider would be a source of intrigue. To her mother Trevor's arrival was a threat to their island.

Visiting Steve in private Diana would be enamored as she sought to learn all about the man world. When Steve told her about all it's troubles and war, Diana wished to help but her plans and wishes were quickly shot down by her mother. Wishing for Trevor to go, Hippolyta even went as far as to speak with Philipus about an execution. Acting as a calmer presence of the two Philipus instead opted to use the lasso of truth on Trevor to see the truth and his intentions. It would be here Steve spoke of the war and his place in it. Showing himself to be a noble man and a warrior looking to fight for the good of his people. Philipus deemed him as someone they'd proudly have represent their army. With that Hippolyta would decree that one of their amazons would return Steve home and see the Man world for themselves before reporting back on this war.

To determine who would be this Champion and representative of the Amazons. Hippolyta would decree a series of challenges and games to whittle the field with the most worthy left standing. Wanting to see this world for herself Diana would elect to enter these games despite Hippolyta's wishes. Soon she'd show herself to be a worthy competitor before finally reaching the finals against her two rivals Orana and Artemis. Narrowly in this contest Diana would defeat her rivals and earn the respect of Artemis who proudly recognized her as their champion. Orana meanwhile would be further embittered by this defeat as she remarked there would be a time when she'd have her day. Despite not wanting this for Diana, Hippolyta would make sure that her daughter was well equipped for this mission as she procured her the lasso of truth, royal tiara, bracelets of victory and her trademark red, white and gold armor which was reminiscent of her New 52 attire.

With this equipment to aid her journey Diana would begin her journey to the Man World along with Steve Trevor. Flying in a plane for the very first time was an experience for Diana which continued to give this fish out of water and coming of age tale. The duo would bond further in this journey as Steve would tell her about his backstory and his role in the war. Shown to be a strong, noble human being who has grown quite jaded to fighting what he calls a never ending war. What would also be troubling to Diana in this conversation was Trevor's frank honesty about how women are perceived in his world. On her arrival to England, Diana would soon get a cold dose of this reality that women faced in the second world war.

However it wasn't all bad for Diana as she did quickly meet a kindred spirit of sorts for her. This would be Etta Candy (Orla Brady) who had overcome plenty of adversity herself to become a UK Intelligence officer. Shown to be a former pilot also, Etta was in many ways a warrior but you wouldn't tell that right away based off of her warm and friendly nature. It would be Candy who could see something was special about Diana and more than just Steve's chaperone. Thanks to a recommendation from both Steve and Candy, Diana would accept a job offer to work as the secretary for General Phil Darnell (Colin Firth). A strict by the book miliary man who commanded respect from his soldiers and colleagues alike. While Diana may have taken some convincing to take this position. It would be Steve who told her that this would allow her a chance to be on the inside.

One thing that didn't quite sit with Diana was the war itself. Struggling to understand it's purpose or just why it continued on for so long. Even Steve Trevor couldn't help provide her with much as he like many others by this point had grown jaded with fighting a seemingly never ending conflict. Along the way with her settling into the man's world Diana would make two more friends this time through Etta. The first of which would be single mother Jane Kapatellis (Jennifer Garner). A strong willed woman who had finally gotten sick of her pig of a husband. Diana also grew close with her daughter Vanessa Kapatellis (Atrid Berges-Frisby). Vanessa sadly had long been suffering with pain and disability after a car accident which robbed her of her dancing career. It could be quickly noted that while she liked Diana, there was some envy to be had from Vanessa to Diana.

Another individual who Diana would soon become associated with was businessman Maxwell Lord (Channing Tatum). An American Entrepreneur who seemingly was apart of a weapons manufacturing deal with the UK Military. Lord like many men was taken by Diana from the moment he met her. Max claimed he saw something special in her but he couldn't quite put his finger on it. Darnell meanwhile was stuck in his ways as per the time regarding female soldiers. So when Steve Trevor and Etta Candy wished to go to Europe as per a secret source to locate some Nazi agents. They knew that Darnell wouldn't approve, one person however more willing to help them would be Maxwell Lord who actually had some contacts out there himself and also provided them with a plane capable of camouflage which was straight out of the Wonder Woman comics.

Yet no matter how friendly or charming he seemed there was something shady about Maxwell Lord. Something which in particular didn't sit right with either Steve Trevor or Etta Candy especially when his source was revealed to be Paula Von Gunther (Sophie Marceau). A war criminal and spy, Paula Von Gunther was definitely not someone that Steve Trevor was happy to be meeting with. In fact in the first moments of seeing her Steve would draw a gun on her. Etta Candy seemed to agree with Trevor that Paula was a threat. Despite her misgivings about Paula, Diana was at least willing to hear what Paula had to say before making her face justice. It must be said that with her being Maxwell Lord's contact, there was an added suspicion and unease on just exactly whether Maxwell Lord could be trusted.

We'd soon get to see Diana in the field for the first time however as Paula Von Gunther proved her intel to be valid. As not only did she reveal that the nazis were working on some special weapons to turn the tide back in their favor. But that they'd even brought in Doctor Poison (Rachel Weisz). A mysterious scientist who had gone to great lengths to conceal their identity. It was only through Paula Von Gunther that we'd learn that the doctor was in fact a female scientist by the name of Fausta Grables. Believed to be a wealthy heiress of a French family, Paula Von Gunther's information would lead them to a heavily guarded family home. Donning her armor for the first time Diana would storm right through the front door as she'd use her bracelets to deflect gunfire.

This distraction allowed Steve and Etta to find another entrance and they'd catch Doctor Poison off guard before apprehending her. Using her lasso for the first time to question Fausta. Diana would further be horrified at how this world perceived women with Fausta remarking that even with her knowledge and abilities. People wouldn't respect or recognize her as a woman which is why she concealed her identity. Revealing that she had a financier it would be hear that we'd hear the name of Thomas Byrde (Jesper Christensen). Commenting that Byrde isn't a believer in the cause and is simply looking to keep the war going. Diana would elect to go after him alone while Steve and Etta brought Doctor Poison home with them to face a jury for her war crimes. In her journey to find Bryde however Diana would finally begin to find a reason behind the war.

For when she'd confront him she'd find not a wealthy man hiding behind an army. But rather a curious third party with their own agenda. Seemingly waiting for Diana with open arms, Byrde would unveil himself as the Duke of Deception. Revealing himself to be the deity Dolos, the deity of deceit and lies. The Duke revealed himself to be a soldier of Ares. While not a trustworthy source by any means, The Duke stated that he had no intention or need to lie to Diana as it was too late for her to stop what's happening. Stating that Ares is always looking for more soldiers, it seemed the Duke enjoyed taunting Diana about her standing and how she was beneath them. This would only enrage Diana who attacked the duke and following a battle would use her sword to cut down the Duke for his crimes.

Returning home following this Diana would see that things had changed following this covert meeting. Despite being livid about this unauthorized mission Darnell was happy with the result and the capture of Poison. On top of that he couldn't help but be impressed with Diana and expressed willing to work alongside her. It wouldn't just be Darnell who was impressed with Diana either as Maxwell Lord wouldn't be able to contain his intrigue. His connection to Paula Von Gunther had set off some red flags yet as we'd learn thanks to her continued information Paula had been granted amnesty. This wouldn't sit well with either Steve Trevor or Etta Candy who refused to trust either Lord or Paula. Lord would seemingly continue to try and sway Diana. In the process however he'd meet Vanessa Kapatellis and on becoming aware of her condition, he'd offer her a chance to recover.

Aided by Paula as he'd begin experimentation on Vanessa, it'd soon become apparent that Lord's experimentation was down to him looking to create a man made version of wonder woman. The experimentation would see Vanessa injected with a ton of different compounds which would alter her both physically and mentally shattering her psyche. Transforming Vanessa into the ruthless killer Silver Swan, quickly we'd see however that Max couldn't control Swan just like he couldn't do the same with Diana. Swan would soon go off on a rampage leaving quite the body count as she hunted down Diana. Forced to fight against her own friend Diana tried to avoid this contest as best she could. Unfortunately on seeing that Vanessa had little issue with putting innocent lives at risk, Diana was forced to hold nothing back. Looking to make Vanessa see sense, Jane would enter the field in the hopes to reach her daughter.

Watching this battle from afar it soon become apparent that Swan wasn't a failed creation but more just a test by Maxwell Lord to see what Diana was truly capable of. Thanks to Jane's efforts they'd manage to reach through the broken Vanessa but during later conversations we'd learn that Vanessa had little memory of what happened to her. Aware of her crimes, Vanessa seemed willing to accept her punishment yet Darnell continuing to show his growth saw potential as a soldier and promised to help Vanessa as best he can. Slowly haunted by memories of what she did however Vanessa soon managed to remember Paula Von Gunther and her part in her transformation. Yet as they'd look to arrest Paula, we'd find that Paula had gone under ground and in what concerned Steve she'd took Doctor Poison's research with her.

While one might expect all of this to further put suspicion on Max Lord, we'd learn that Lord had developed quite the story and play to prove his innocence. However as we'd soon find Lord had some assistance in making such a bold play which while not enough to cast doubt from him. At least for now forced Diana and others to focus on the task at hand which was Diana's mission to stop the war by thwarting Ares and his plot. Yet with Diana's rash decision making to kill the Duke of Deception, we'd see that Ares (Daniel Craig) had made a bold move to take action. Consumed by his own rage and anger at the fall of his associate Ares had summoned all of his children and allies to come to him in an effort to rally them against the Amazon. This allowed us to further see a lot more of the dynamic of the group.

Known to have been one of the lesser liked and respected gods of Olympus Ares very much was someone who liked to rule with an iron fist. A leader who commanded fear as opposed to respect, Ares was a vicious, cold individual who one got the impression could snap at any moment. His children and allies would all be shown to be people that were intimidated by Ares and were manipulated by him to seek an approval or acceptance that they would never reach. The first children we'd meet would be brothers Deimos (Jacob Lofland) and Phobos (Oliver Stark). This pair of brothers who clearly were the youngest of Ares' children were shown to be rash as they rushed off as soon as Ares mentioned an Amazon in the hopes of garnering his approval. Ares' daughter Eris (Teresa Palmer) meanwhile had a lot more frostier relationship with her father and saw this as a chance to mend fences between her and her father.

Along with his children we'd meet some of Ares' associates including the Gorgon Medusa (Alexandra Daddario). Shown to be a loyal follower of Ares, Medusa would stop at nothing to appease her master as he ordered her to eliminate the threat and find him the island. It would seem in these interactions that Ares had a lot more time for his associates and the slightest respect in how he spoke to them in comparison to his children. Yet we'd see because of Ares' treatment, his children weren't to fully be trusted either. As we'd see Phobos put his true nature on display after he'd convince his brother Deimos straight into a fight with Diana. Deimos was quickly overmatched and we'd see him soon be cut down by Diana while Phobos fled in his mind taking a pawn off the board. This would allow Phobos to begin manipulating Eris regarding their brother's demise as Phobos proved himself to have the manipulative prowess of his father.

Of course not all of Ares' subjects truly seemed loyal with one noted being Gundra (Lily Rose Depp). A rogue Valkyrie who enjoyed the chaos of war, Gundra's alignment with Ares was strictly out of convenience and on seeing others with such potential she'd soon appear before Paula Von Gunther seeing her as a potential replacement should Ares fall. Offering her knowledge and wisdom to work alongside her, Gundra was delighted as Paula accepted this deal. Unbeknownst to them however we'd learn that Darnell wasn't going to let what Paula did stand. Thanks to intelligence provided by Max Lord, they'd have ideas for where to find Paula as Steve Trevor and Etta Candy prepped a mission to capture or kill Paula. Recognizing the threats that the world would face Diana agreed to stay behind in order to protect England and the world from Ares and his children.

Showing his coldness Ares had little interest in the news that his son was dead. Soon he'd learn that another of his children would be killed as Eris rashly attacked Diana. Consumed with rage over the loss of her brother Eris would similarly fall a similar fate as Diana bested her in battle while Phobos looked on. This time however Phobos seemingly had a play in mind more than just removing a pawn as he appeared before Max Lord believing that they had similar intentions and plans in mind and offered an alliance. One subject of Ares who watched everything from the shadows was that of Nubia (Nicole Beharie). While Ares claimed that Nubia was his daughter, Nubia had always had some doubts and in watching Diana and the way she thought Nubia would get flashes of memories regarding her life.

Revealed to be an Amazon herself Nubia as we'd learn was Diana's half sister and this revelation would cause Nubia to turn against Ares. Forgoing her prior mission, Nubia instead stepped into the field and helped Diana slay the predatory Medusa before removing the Gorgon's head. It would be then that Ares on seeing Nubia turn against him would elect to move into the field of battle himself. Before we got there however we'd get a cut to a shoot out taking place at the Von Gunther manor as Steve and his forces looked to capture Paula. During this battle we'd see Gundra shot and killed with her entry to Valhalla forfeit for the sins of her past. In the chaos Doctor Poison would manage to escape while Etta Candy defeated Paula in a short fist fight leading to her capture and rearrest.

As he appeared before Diana and Nubia it appeared that Ares had some familiarity or recognition of Diana. Disgusted at what she's become and even more angered by Nubia's betrayal, Ares would uncharacteristically grant them one chance at redemption in joining their side. Offering both of them the truth of their lineage Ares' manipulations would fall on deaf ears which caused the god to finally unleash his fury. A being of pure rage and viciousness Ares didn't just beat these Amazons but he berated them as he did so. Taunting them that they'd never understand or be worthy, Ares showed little hesitation in attacking Nubia despite raising her from a young age. However his arrogance and over confidence would soon be his downfall because this allowed Diana and Nubia to combine their efforts before using Medusa's head to turn Ares to stone.

With Ares defeated time would pass as London looked to rebuild and the news would all be about peace talks resuming between the two sides. Trapped in stone form Ares would be marked for transport by Diana who looked to bring him to Themyscira for safe keeping. Offering Nubia travel home with her, Nubia would refuse this offer for now as she had a mission she wanted to finish. Stating that the world is not safe with any of Ares' children still out there. Nubia made it clear that she wouldn't return until Phobos was
dead. Following this farewell with Nubia, Diana would share a farewell with her colleagues and friends. After Darnell would hand Diana a medal in thanks of her service, Diana would share an embrace with Etta Candy. But it would be with Steve she had the saddest goodbye as the pair would share a kiss finally as their relationship had been built through the whole film. As the film ended in a post credit scene tease for the sequel we'd see Maxwell Lord joined by Doctor Poison and Phobos, Here Lord would reveal that through Von Gunther he'd amassed quite the contact list and had reached out to some old friends for the next stage of the plan!

WHO CAN MAKE US QUIVER?

With the DC Extended Universe looking towards it's second chapter, we have already received confirmation that there will be a solo film focusing on the story of Martian Manhunter. Now it can also be confirmed today that another hero being introduced in this second chapter will be that of Oliver Queen/Green Arrow. Of course this will not be the first live action appearance of the Green Arrow with Justin Hartley appearing as the character in Smallville while more memorably Stephen Amell headed the CW series Arrow as the titular character. It is said in a similar capacity to Grant Gustin as the Flash, there wasn't much conversation in regards to offering Amell the role as the DCEU wishes to establish these characters with new actors who can lead the helm. It is believed that there was numerous actors who auditioned for the role of Oliver Queen with him being one of the more sought after DCEU roles thus far.

Queen of course in the comics is a wealthy businessman who owns Queen Consolidated and also is a well known celebrity and playboy across Star City. It is believed that this movie will very much focus on Oliver Queen's origin story and the events which transformed him into the heroic Green Arrow. One of the leading contenders who did audition for the role was that of Charlie Hunnam. While it was said that Hunnam excelled in many parts of the audition process, he similar to a couple of other actors who auditioned for the DCEU has been tabbed for a different role with the franchise. Hunnam wasn't the only star of note to throw his name in the hat either for the audition process with Glenn Powell, Theo James and Liam Hemsworth expressing interest in the role also. However reports soon indicated siting some potential front runners for the character.

Names such as Mike Vogel, Jake McDorman, Chord Overstreet, Chris Wood and Boyd Holbrook would all be listed as potential castings before finally today an announcement was made. It's said that two people above all else stood ahead of the crowd with Max Thierot just missing out on the titular role while Alexander Ludwig has now been confirmed to star as the titular character. It is said that Ludwig who not only looks comic accurate for the role, has greatly impressed in the audition process proving himself to be more than capable of playing both the seriousness of the character as well as the more laid back comedic moments. This will be Ludwig's first ever starring role apart of a franchise as the actor is better known for appearances in TV series such as Vikings and Heels while making appearances in films such as Hunger Games and Bad Boys.

A CANARIES' CRY

With the news that in the second chapter of this DC Extended Universe's story that we would see a Green Arrow solo film. Many wondered how long would it be regarding news of Green Arrow's closest ally Black Canary. Which is why today it wasn't the most surprising news to hear that the DC extended universe has secured it's Black Canary. We know of the Black Canaries from the DC comics, this character will be the Dinah Laurel Lance iteration of the character. Yet as producers have made clear, this doesn't mean that we won't see Dinah Drake in the DCEU in the future of the franchise. While details remain scarce about the character Laurel is described as a Jazz Singer in Starling City who is currently working in the Grey Swan club.

Finding an actress to play Canary as we understand did not come easily for producers with many names putting themselves forward for the role. One name heavily favored in the early going was that of Kathryn Winnick, but in similar to several stories we've heard of late writers have tabbed the actress for a different role in another movie. Along with Kathryn Winnick, we'd know a lot of support was given to actress Vanessa Kirby for the role but sadly scheduling conflicts would rule Kirby out of the running in the early goings. A few other names confirmed to have auditioned or been interested in the role include Hayden Panettiere, Elizabeth Banks, Anna Camp, Yvonne Strahovski, Lili Reinhart and Gillian Jacobs.

Yet as we'd find the woman selected for the role in the end would be someone with experience when it comes to appearing as part of DC films. As actress Blake Lively who famously appeared in the much maligned Ryan Reynolds led Green Lantern film has been announced to be playing Laurel Lance. The award winning actress is said to have won over directors and casting agents with her screen tests along with actor Alexander Ludwig. While she maybe appearing in the Green Arrow film entitled Quiver, hopes do indicate of a Black Canary film or series being in the pipeline for the talented actress.

DC EXTENDED UNIVERSE
PRESENTS
9781563895043-uk.jpg

BORN TO RUN
With this first phase of the DC extended universe so far going from strength to strength. It would now be time for the budding franchise to enter into new territory with the first ever live action Flash film. From the run up to this film by it's advertising material, trailers and even comments from the actors. This film was promised to be a whirlwind of emotion with the overall theme being hope amidst tragedy and dealing with loss. Set in the city of Central City which we'd learn was apart of the state of Ohio which would be the first time that the DC Extended Universe had given us an exact location of one of it's cities. Similar to that of the other stories told, before we'd begin with the present we'd need to look to the past as we learned the story of Barry Allen (Dylan O'Brien). We'd begin by meeting his mother Nora Allen (Isla Fisher), shown to be an optimistic farm girl who'd recently been experiencing life in the big city. Shown to be a kind hearted woman who had dreams of becoming a social worker to help those in need of help. Nora Allen would soon meet a kindred spirit in the man later to become her husband Henry Allen (Bill Hader).

While some may have seen Henry Allen as a deadbeat and low level beat cop without a future. Those who really took the time to get to know him including fellow officers Darryl Frye (Rufus Sewel) and Frank Curtis (Michael Rapaport) knew that beneath the surface was a man who only wanted to help. This is why Henry took a job which while not his passion allowed him to make a difference while his true dreams where to become a doctor. Scrimping and saving everything he earned in the hopes of making it to medical school. Henry would very much meet a kindred spirit in Nora. The two would form a quick bond and relationship which would see them later get married. The pair very much had a dream relationship full of love and were excited to bring a child into this earth. Together they would begin to achieve their dreams as Nora began social work while Henry looked to save the money required to begin medical school. Along with this they'd have a son Barry who was shown to have quite the gifted imagination.

Raised in a loving and happy home, Barry was an avid comic book fan who was enamored with heroes such as Jay Garrick. From a young age Barry would befriend their neighbors daughter Iris West (Shailene Woodley) and the pair would very much grow up alongside one another. We'd see though one differential between the two is that while Barry had the picturesque childhood, Iris sadly didn't as her home life was a lot more tumultuous. Revealed to be from a broken home, Iris would often stay at Barry's when things got too much for the young girl. As the years got on it seemed that the pair may have a relationship which could blossom into something more than friends. However they'd never act on it with Barry instead being Iris' confidant having had numerous run ins with her alcoholic father William (Sean Bean). Sadly however Barry's life would take a haunting turn on his 11th birthday. As on this particularly stormy night Barry awoke to screams and what he could only later describe as yellow flashes and lightning. Rushing into the living room Barry would be horrified to find his father in a state of shock and coated in blood. Henry Allen's shocked state was added to him standing over Nora who had a dagger plunged into her chest.

In the aftermath of this Henry Allen would be arrested and charged with the murder of his wife. Despite his pleas of innocence, there was no evidence of a break in and absolutely no proof of anyone else being in the house. With Henry soon being incarcerated in Iron Heights, his innocence was only maintained by himself and the young Barry Allen who refused to believe his father was capable of such an act. Even Henry's closest friends would doubt his innocence with this case yet despite this it would be Daryl Frye who nobly would elect to raise Barry as his own by assuming the role of his guardian. Frye would very much nurture Barry and come to love him as a son. He also proved himself to be very supportive of Barry as despite his misgivings he never stood in the way of Barry's frequent visits to his father. He'd also further nurture Barry by allowing him to make several visits to the Central City Police Department. It would be here that Barry Allen began to develop an interest in cold cases and soon would meet the head of the CCPD crime lab James Forrest (Morgan Freeman). Recognizing the genuine interest of the young man, Forrest had little issue with Barry observing and answering his questions. In fact Forrest seemed to take a delight in mentoring Allen so it made little surprise when Barry would choose to study forensics at College. This made Frye who by this point was police captain very proud of what the young man had achieved so far.

Which is why on graduation Captain Frye would offer Barry a position with the CCPD in an intern role at the crime lab. Sadly though as we'd see in the time from when Barry was just a kid visiting the lab that the CCPD had undergone it's changes. The lab in particular had also felt the effects of these changes which were incurred thanks to a downgrade in the public's perception and also pressure from the new mayor and former head of the CCPD Gregory Wolfe (Eamonn Walker). Wolfe very much was fearsome leader who had a zero tolerance policy. In fact some felt that it was because of Wolfe's pressure and policies that the CCPD had seen it's stock fall so far as Wolfe valued swift results over precise ones. This would lead to quite the concerning number of wrongful convictions and mistrials from the CCPD with Wolfe always putting the blame on the crime lad for it's shoddy work. With their budget cut as we'd find James Forrest had been tabbed for an early retirement but in one of his last acts would elect to train the future of the Crime Lab. Some of his student would include the highly ambitious Kristen Kramer (Kacey Rohl). Shown to be a woman with grand ambitions and looked at as some as James' successor. Kristen Kramer was seen as an excellent worker who strived for perfection, unfortunately this meant she wouldn't be impressed with Barry's time keeping.

Another recruit in the lab but someone who Barry would be a lot closer with was that of Patty Spivot (Elizabeth Lail). A charming young woman who developed a great bond with Barry Allen quite quickly. It was said that Spivot was very much Barry's best friend and closest confidant at the CCPD. In his return to the CCPD, one thing that hadn't changed was Barry's interest in cold cases. In fact he'd use his position now to go through cold cases after hours in an effort to solve the cases. The reaction to Barry's extra work would very much be mixed as while James Forrest would encourage this behavior seeing Allen's passion as a good thing. Daryl Frye remained concerned that Allen was simply using these cases as a means to forgive himself for not solving his father's case. The aged detective Frank Curtis meanwhile would often humor Barry and his theories. Seeing the potential in Barry and of course being a close friend of Barry's father. Curtis soon would start chasing up these leads and theories that Allen provided and we'd see the arrest rate of the CCPD slowly begin to rise. Unfortunately while many seemed to welcome Barry, others would reject the so called golden boy of the captain as David Singh (Jay Ali) held Barry in little regard.

Considering Allen as nothing more than a legacy hire and his lateness as a problem. Singh was described by many as a perfectionist with very high standards for himself and others. Adding to Singh's troubles was his recent partnership with detective Matthew Paulson (Mathieu Almaric). Far from the choice of an ideal partner, Paulson was the epitome of a dead end detective and his willingness to cut corners would put him at big time odds with Singh. As we'd later learn however things with Paulson would be a lot worse than one might expect. One constant in his time at the CCPD was Barry Allen staying behind late to make amends for his constant lateness. On one particular stormy night however a freak storm would hit central city and a bolt of lightning would strike Barry Allen. The force of this lightning would propel Barry across the lab and into many of the chemicals they'd work with and it would set off a chain reaction with Barry Allen as he'd be connected to the Speed Force. Although this would be something we'd learn later on as we'd see Barry Allen begin to come around in Star Labs it self. Here Barry would meet Dr. Tina McGee (Madeline Mantock) who had been his primary care giver.

Aiding Tina would be her husband Jerry McGee (Tom Mison) who it was quickly noted lacked the bedside manner that his wife had. In charge of the operation would be professor Emil Hamilton (Matthew Modine). It would be professor Hamilton who shockingly explained that the storm was triggered by a freak explosion inside Star Labs. He would also explain to Barry that Barry's recent visions and feelings of the world moving slower since waking up. Wasn't a case of a concussion or brain trauma but it was instead a case that the accident had made Barry faster.

Showing himself to have a vested interest and expanded knowledge of Meta Humans and their gifts. Emil Hamilton greatly wished to help Barry get control of his gifts so that he could continue living on with his life. He'd be aided by Tina McGee who proved to be a valued asset thanks to her knowledge of the changes in Barry's body and especially his faster metabolism which would require a greater calorie consumption. As we watched Barry begin to control his abilities, Jerry McGee was shown to be watching out of envy of what Barry was capable. During his time with professor Hamilton, Barry would learn that Star Labs was in fact founded by reclusive scientist Eobard Thawne (Matthew McConaughey). As Hamilton would remark Thawne never really showed his face at Star Labs and actually left Hamilton and his team to do whatever research they felt was of interest. However Thawne had quite the interest in Barry Allen's case and he had implored Hamilton and the team to help Barry recover. Overtime Barry would manage to control his abilities and once he was truly comfortable Hamilton and his team would let Barry return to the world to continue his life.

It seemed that with this near death experience things had changed greatly for Barry Allen and those around him. As finally he and Iris would act on those feelings they'd harbored closely with one another. We'd learn that over the course of the years Iris had become a skilled reporter as part of the Central City Citizen. Along with this Iris had been caring for her father whose health had tragically taken a turn following a life of abuse. Returning to work it seemed that Barry's control of his abilities would mean that he was never late again which his colleagues soon took note of. On top of this because of his speed Barry would be able to look through documents and reports a lot quicker and begin noticing things he might once have missed. This would be where Barry Allen came to notice a bunch of discrepancies that indicated missing evidence among other things which had greatly influenced the CCPD's standing. It would be thanks to his research that Barry Allen managed to find that Detective Paulson very much was taking bribes and sabotaging cases. Forced to take this to Captain Frye, we'd soon see a formal investigation launched into officer Paulson.

This move earned Barry a lot of respect from some of his doubters including Singh who respected the work put in by Allen. When it came to Singh's trial however we'd see just how desperate the detective was as he'd be repped by the slimy attorney by the name of Clifford Devoe (Jamie Campbell Bower). Shown to be a highly unscrupulous individual Devoe looked to discredit the CCPD and Barry Allen for that matter. However his best attempts would be in vain as eventually Paulson would be found guilty and put behind bars. Sadly though Barry wouldn't have much time to enjoy the fruits of his labor. As Barry would be given the heart breaking news that his father had been killed behind bars. With the death of his father, Barry felt that he would have to do more to make sure that no one else suffered the same fate as he and his father did. Returning to Star Labs, Barry would talk over this with Emil Hamilton who seemed hesitant about Barry risking his own exposure out there. Tina McGee meanwhile was all for it as she wished for Barry to use his gifts to help others. As for Jerry McGee he would continue his research in Barry's speed but this would be down to his want for the powers itself.

Driven further to prove his father's innocence Barry continued his research in that night and would even return to the scene of the crime itself. Here Barry would meet a woman by the name of Fiona Webb (Adelaide Kane). A mysterious woman who seemed fully aware of who Barry Allen was and who his family was. Webb would quickly flee only for Barry to chase her to find out who this woman was. It would turn out Webb herself had seen her own family murdered by a yellow streak. Just the mention of this would trigger Barry's memories of yellow flashes of light from that night. Revealing she was aware of what Barry could do, Fiona admitted that she was worried to find if Barry was in fact the Streak which killed her family. As the two continued to talk Barry would introduce her to Iris in the effort to tell Fiona's story. Revealing her real name as Beverly Lewis, it seemed that she was happy to go on record but sadly before the interview could happen Barry and Iris would find Beverly dead with a dagger in her chest similar to that which killed Nora Allen. Overwhelmed with grief Barry would put himself in his work and he'd be joined by David Singh who by this point had mellowed enough to try and bond with Barry.

Continuing in his efforts to train and cultivate his gifts. Barry would be encouraged to do so by Jerry McGee who had secretly made a plan in an effort to steal Barry's powers for himself. Yet just before he could implement this very plot in Starlabs, the yellow streak would appear before everyone in Star Labs and phase his hand through Jerry's chest killing him instantly. Introducing himself as the person who killed Barry's mother, Fiona Webb and in a shocking revelation the person who killed Barry's father it was hard to recognize who the Yellow Streak was thanks to a costume which hid his identity and his vibrating at a high speed. Rashly Barry would attempt to attack the streak but would soon be doled a vicious beating as it was clear that this individual could do everything that Barry could and more. With Barry injured the Yellow Streak would unmask himself to Allen stating that he had nothing to hide. Revealing himself to be Eobard Thawne, much to the shock and horror of Emil Hamilton. The Yellow Streak would soon run off with the promise that he will take everything from Barry. With this threat looming Barry went to Frye with the news of Thawne being a meta human serial killer.

Taking this threat very seriously Frye elected to put Iris West in police custody. However Iris wasn't about to let her hospital ridden father be left alone and she'd elect to stay by his side. Further showing his growth as a character David Singh would promise to stay by the hospital with a police guard should anything happen. In the meantime Barry returned to the CCPD and the crime lab to look into Eobard Thawne. As they did so however they'd begin to notice some worrying trends. The DNA sample they had of Thawne didn't make any sense as it contained unrecognizable genetic markers and left them unable to to trace his family history. An apologetic Hamilton would then speak with Barry as he informed him that they had no idea what happened or that Thawne had abilities. Yet as he and Tina looked back into the night of the accident which gave Barry his speed they'd see that Thawne was in fact present in the background and believe he contributed to the accident which gave Barry his speed. However they couldn't be quite sure as to what purpose he'd have for doing so.

Continuing his attempts to chase this theory Barry Allen would begin diving into the cold case files as he found numerous reports of a Yellow Streak being seen at multiple murders. With this knowledge Barry would take it to Captain Frye as he finally had proof which cleared his father's name among others. Looking to make further amends Emil Hamilton meanwhile would introduce Barry to a close friend of his by the name of Paul Gambi (Bob Odenkirk). A criminal costume maker who had a talent for designing costumes for meta humans. Emil Hamilton would sat that he's known Paul for a long time and he's actually managed to design a suit for Barry capable of withstanding the high speeds he traversed. Reminiscent of Flash's classic comic suit with its deep red coloring and lightning insignia. Barry did feel some conflicted emotions about working with Gambi, however Hamilton would attest that Gambi deep down was a good man and someone that they could always deal with later. While Barry continued to hone his powers we'd see him perform a few trial runs in his costume with people at first calling him the red streak before later on Iris West would give him the moniker of The Flash in homage to the comic character.

It wouldn't just be Gambi however who'd be introduced into Barry's life at this point as Captain Frye would call in some favors to bring in criminal profiler Hunter Zolomon (Sam Rockwell). Quickly Hunter as we'd see would form a connection with Barry Allen having also lost his family at a young age. Tragically however it would be the revelation that his father was a serial killer which shook Hunter to his core and led to him becoming the profiler he is today. As the pair would grow close Hunter even brought Barry to his house for a meal which was cooked for them by his wife Ashley (Betty Gabriel). With the Flash becoming widely known which Tina and Emil knew would draw out Eobard, it seemed there was some mixed perception to this hero. One in particular individual who'd act as a detractor was Mayor Wolfe who was shown to be quite prejudicial to Metas and didn't want any running across his town. Demanding results from Frye, we'd see soon that Captain Frye as well as Patty Spivot would begin to question if there was things that Barry Allen would be hiding from them.

We'd see this more so when true to form Eobard Thawne now being referred to by the reverse flash attacked the hospital in an attempt to get to Iris West. During this attack we'd see the reverse flash kill several detectives but before he'd attack Singh, Iris stood before him not wanting to see anyone else die. Tragically however before Flash could attack he'd be shot in the shoulder by a gun picked up by Iris' father. In his final moments of life it seemed that William wanted to show his daughter that he did love her and his sacrifice would allow David Singh to get Iris to safety as the reverse flash broke William's neck. Arriving at the hospital in his flash costume Barry would begin to battle against Eobard Thawne with the fight between them being a lot more even. Following a surprisingly short battle Barry was able to defeat Thawne and would bring him back to a specially designed containment unit at Star Labs. With nothing to hide as he stood across from Barry Allen, we'd begin to learn the truth about Thawne. Revealing himself as being from the 25th century Eobard Thawne explained that despite growing up in a wealthy family and wanting for nothing. The one thing he truly desired was to be like his hero the Flash.

Wanting nothing more than to be seen as a hero in the same manner as the Flash, Eobard would spend his family fortune in the hopes to recreate what made the flash a hero. Yet due to a miscalculation with his speed Thawne would be projected into the future and see that fate never intended for Eobard Thawne to be a hero. Instead he was meant to be the villain. He was meant to be the Flash's greatest rival and a mirror image to Barry Allen himself. Describing them very much as a yin and yang like dynamic Eobard couldn't help but express some pleasure in the fitting moniker of the reverse flash. Realizing that his future was set in stone with his death becoming at the hands of Barry Allen from his time. Eobard Thawne was forced to suffer the realization that he wasn't fast enough to defeat the Flash in his time. However on seeing that time was amenable, Eobard travelled back in time to rewrite the narrative and prove that he was superior to the flash. This is why he killed Barry's parents and friends to be the author of his pain and the reason he gave Barry his speed was to prove that even with the powers he had this Barry couldn't stop him.

With that Thawne would begin to use his powers in containment which stunned Hamilton who believed they'd been able to hold him. Revealing it was his plan to gep captured Eobard on escaping would attack Barry yet again and while Barry was able to hold his own, we'd soon see him be beaten in combat by the reverse flash. Travelling through star labs Eobard made it clear that he was looking for a device to travel in time. A cosmic treadmill he'd created which would allow him to see the changes he'd made. As we'd see however before he could do so, Barry Allen attacked and destroyed the device infuriating Eobard. Swearing that he'd make Barry Allen watch as he killed everyone Eobard Thawne rushed to the CCPD with Barry Allen in hot pursuit. During this battle through the streets and also the CCPD building the world would firmly recognize that the Flash was trying to save everyone from this yellow speedster. Sadly despite his efforts Barry couldn't save everyone as Eobard managed to divert some police fire towards Hunter badly wounding the profiler before Barry's eyes. Yet before he could follow up with a killing blow, Eobard would shockingly elect to spare Hunter on seeing his badge before he'd be attacked by the Flash.

As the battle waged on Emil Hamilton seemingly had a thought and finally a way to ground Eobard once and for all. Using the weaponry that Jerry McGee had constructed himself, Emil Hamilton would use the device to take a small portion of Barry's speed before he'd pass it onto Eobard Thawne. This would have a great effect on Eobard who come to a complete halt with the speed force inside of him reacting with the different version from Barry. Slowly being grounded in reality we'd see a vortex open and Eobard would be pulled into a new timeline of his own creation. In this time line with his speed force gone and his memories erased by the journey we'd see that Eobard had used his resources to create the Flash museum which was fully dedicated to the heroic flash. Despite his wishes to be just like the Flash, Eobard seemed to find some contentment in showcasing to the world in his mind the great hero the Flash. With Eobard defeated we'd see Iris West publish a new article about the Flash but as she looked at some still images of the speedster she'd recognize him by his eyes and jaw as Barry. In a later conversation with Barry, Iris would express her pride at what he was doing and promise to keep his secret.
With Central City adjusting to it's new heroic protector being recognized and the public opinion of the CCPD changing thanks to the efforts of Captain Frye and David Singh among others. We'd learn that James Forrest had in fact had his job saved as he'd continue to run the crime lab and mentor Kramer, Spivot and Allen. Sadly one person's life who was altered for the worse was a distraught Hunter Zolomon who'd learn through doctors that because of his injuries he'd never walk again. Comforting Hunter would be his wife Ashley who swore that no matter what she'd always be by his side. The closing scene of the movie would see Barry Allen visiting the graves of his parents having now officially cleared his father's name once and for all. In a post credit scene which very much teased a potential sequel we'd see an angered Mayor Wolfe reading an article regarding the Flash before expressing his disgust at what the hero had accomplished. He'd be joined in his office by Clifford Devoe who stated that he had a idea to help rid Central City of the Flash, as long as they didn't mind going Rogue!

LEGENDS OF THE HAWK CONFIRMED - HAWKMAN CASTING UNVEILED

With the DC extended universe now officially four chapters into the first ark of it's story. The DC Extended Universe has already found itself looking to the future as it has began announcing a spate of new characters and films for it's second ark. With sequels for Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman and the Flash already announced. We've also seen confirmation of a Martian Manhunter movie as well as a Green Arrow film which has a confirmed arrival of Black Canary to boot. Today it has been confirmed that another new film will feature in the second ark introducing another new character to the DCEU.

This of course will not be the first live action appearance of Hawkman in the DCEU. As the character of Carter Hall has previously been played both on television by Michael Shanks and Falk Hentschel while also in film most recently by Aldis Hodge. Described as an archaeologist in the early 80s who many have joked is a real life Indiana Jones. Carter Hall is said to have his life forever altered in the pursuit of an ancient relic which awakens in his memories of past lives and later leads to him becoming the heroic figure known as Hawkman.

Unlike several roles which have thus far popped up so far as part of the DCEU. It has been said that the role of Hawkman wasn't one which featured a wide open casting. This was down to the characterization of Hawkman which has been described as uncompromising and rigid. Described as reserved to the outside world but with a fierce temper when angered. Hall is further described as someone lacking a sense of humor but at the same time making up for his less than personable ways with his intelligence and honor not too mention his loyalty. Because of these traits and writers not wishing the character to be wholly unlikeable, only a short group of actors were called into audition for the part. Of the names we are aware of Clive Standen and Edgar Ramirez were believed to have tried for the part.

It can be confirmed however that taking the role of Carter Hall will be none other than Irish actor Jamie Dornan. While many will know Jamie from his role as Christian Grey in the Fifty Shades of Grey film series. Dornan has also memorable been in hit shows Once upon a time and The Fall. It is said that his role in the Fall greatly swung producers and the director as they believe that Dornan will be more than equipped to cover the multi faceted personality of Carter Hall/Hawkman. It is believed that shortly a second announcement will be made regarding who will be joining him in Legends of the Hawk as Hawkwoman.

LEGENDS OF THE HAWK UPDATE - HAWKWOMAN CATING ANNOUNCEMENT

Following the announcement that the second ark of the DC Extended Universe would see the introduction of the Hawks to it's universe. With the announcement already being made confirming that Jamie Dornan would be undertaking the role of Carter Hall/Hawkman. Anticipation built regarding who would take the role of Hawkwoman. Of the iterations of the character it is confirmed that this version of Hawkwoman will be based on Shiera Sanders. Described as a wealthy socialite and the daughter of a real estate tycoon, Shiera soon finds herself met with visions of a past life which quickly find her drawn to the archaeologist Carter Hall with whom she'll soon find she shares a storied history.

In what was a similar case to that of the role of Carter Hall, it's said that there wasn't an open audition process for the role as directors called in a select few actresses to audition for the role. One name who was confirmed to have undergone this audition process was that of Westworld actress Thandie Newton who we have had reports has instead been tabbed for another role as part of the DC extended universe's budding franchise. The other names confirmed to have been brought in for the audition include Jenna Dewan, Natalie Tena and America Ferrera. However it is said that one woman stood head and shoulders above the pack and that is why it can be confirmed that Alicia Vikander will be playing the titular character.

Alicia of course is an academy award winning actress best known for appearances in films such as Ex Machina, Testament of Youth, Jason Bourne and Tomb Raider. It is said based on many of her performances writers feel that Vikander will be more than capable of portraying their vision of Shiera. Described as brave and fearless with a hot headed temperament. Shiera as a person is a stark contrast to the stoic nature of Carter. Said to be warm and engaging to those around her, Shiera is described as a witty woman with a good sense of humor which makes her a great counter balance in the dynamic. With this exciting duo set to arrive in the second ark of the DCEU, more details of their movie will come at a later date.
