With less than one week to go until WWE's Money In The Bank pay-per-view, we've got a big update on CM Punk's WWE future.
According to a reliable insider source, today is "the day" for CM Punk in regards to both sides coming to terms on a new deal. One source was quoted over the weekend saying:
"This is very much like the Jericho and Jeff Hardy situations. Punk's contract has already expired, but he signed an extension through the pay per view in order to work the main event with Cena in Chicago."
While Punk has not been the most popular superstar behind the scenes in recent months, WWE management is not oblivious to the lack of star power currently on the WWE roster. Following the recent retirement of Edge, the departures of other PPV main eventers like Batista, Shawn Michaels and Chris Jericho, Punk's value to WWE has never been higher.
With Punk's WWE contract set to expire this weekend after Sunday's Money in the Bank pay-per-view, this will be a very interesting week in WWE.
