So yeah, basically ZERO updated what so ever...With less than one week to go until WWE's Money In The Bank pay-per-view, we've got a big update on CM Punk's WWE future.
According to a reliable insider source, today is "the day" for CM Punk in regards to both sides coming to terms on a new deal. One source was quoted over the weekend saying:
"This is very much like the Jericho and Jeff Hardy situations. Punk's contract has already expired, but he signed an extension through the pay per view in order to work the main event with Cena in Chicago."
While Punk has not been the most popular superstar behind the scenes in recent months, WWE management is not oblivious to the lack of star power currently on the WWE roster. Following the recent retirement of Edge, the departures of other PPV main eventers like Batista, Shawn Michaels and Chris Jericho, Punk's value to WWE has never been higher.
With Punk's WWE contract set to expire this weekend after Sunday's Money in the Bank pay-per-view, this will be a very interesting week in WWE.
Don't expect anyone to see this before the night is over anyway lol.According to a high level production source on site in Chicago on Sunday, Vince McMahon arrived at the arena with an extension to CM Punk's contract in hand.
The WWE Chairman seems determined to keep Punk in the company, and part of the plan is for Punk to headline SummerSlam, either against Cena in a rematch, or against the Money In The Bank winner in some sort of stipulation match.
"Everything is up in the air," we were exclusively told. "Whatever deal Punk cuts will determine the future of the WWE Title!"
Mine as well use the internet to your advantage. I say he'll end up showing up at a ROH event soon with the belt.nodq.com
- Word is that some parts of the CM Punk-WWE storyline won't be playing out directly on WWE TV. We will likely be seeing the storyline play out over WWE's website and CM Punk's Twitter, like we saw last night while he was at the Chicago Cubs game.
