Now, it's been a pretty long time coming for a WWE title reign to last this long and it really is quite a huge feat. Since he's kept it past Survivor Series and will most likely keep it past TLC and onto the Rumble, there's a chance that Dwayne (or The Rock, I guess) could be facing Mr. Punk in the main event of the Royal Rumble. With what Dwayne said on the night of April 2, 2012 on Monday Night Raw, we could POSSIBLY see Rocky as the new WWE Champion come the Rumble. I genuinely think that Punk is keeping the title this long for two reasons. 1. To bring some prestige back to the title (which I think they have, but the actual title itself needs to change drastically) and 2. To make the title change much, much more important and impactful (which is a total given seeing as how long Punk has had the title).

With all of that said, do you think the WWE are gonna waste that humongous opportunity of making an impactful title change on The Rock defeating CM Punk for the title in what some say is completely predictable? Or do you feel that they should just have Punk defeat Rock and go onto Wrestlemania to defend the title in the main event (and retain it)?

I'm going with the latter but that might be fantasy armchair booking at it's finest. I think that Punk just losing the title to a man who's not gonna be fully committed (at least I don't think unless he has absolutely nothing planned movie-wise from Rumble to 'Mania) will be a total waste.

Yeah, but waste or not its the most likely outcome. This is the same company who jobbed a guy they paid millions of dollars for to their top star in his first match back. I have no faith in them making proper decisions any more, which is the main reason why I'm no longer watching.

And if Lesnar won, what do you suppose would happen. They do everything for a reason. What if the Rock does stay fully committee? Then is it the right choice

1. If you honestly believe they do everything for a reason you are monumentally naive.

2. Yeah right, I'm sure he'll give up Hollywood, more money, less risk to his body, easier travel schedule to come back to being a pro-wrestler full time. Make sure to let me know when that happens.

1. Daniel Bryan vs Sheamus - WrestleMania 28. Explain to me how that didn't work out for the best.

2. Fully committed from Royal Rumble through WrestleMania.

I think it would be a grievous error to have Rock beat Punk for the title. Rock should do the job or win by DQ. Punks title reign is becoming something very special and even more rare. And when he does drop it should be to a fresh face someone that could take the rub and be shin into the next level.

1. Sorry, I must have missed the part where this comment has any bearing on what I said.

2. Ooh, a whole four months, I'm so stoked I think I just popped a boner.

1. You said WWE doesn't have reasons for decisions.

2. So he can carry the belt through WrestleMania.

1. Huh? I said if you believe they do EVERYTHING for a reason you're naive, that doesn't imply that there isn't reasoning behind SOME things that they do. You need to pay more attention in English class dude.

2. Again, wow, I'm so stoked about a four month reign after one that's lasted more than a year. Way to keep that credibility going boys. Give me a fucking break.

Ok fine but Punk has to lose the title at some point. Who would he lose it to? Why would Rock come back just to compete in WrestleMania season and not win?

Rock shouldn't be in the title picture to begin with. He should come back and wrestle if he wants but to show he isn't an egomaniac he should do what is best for the company. Honestly Rock wins the title at Rumble and drops it at Mania is written in the books as to what's gonna happen....what kind of exciting product is that? You know what's gonna happen. I love the Rock but he really shouldn't go over Punk in this situation...Punk should retain..hell let it be for sort of interference from one of Rock's old rivals...Triple H costs Rock the title then they face off at Mania or Kevin Nash costs Rock the match and then they have a war at Mania...hell even the Taker....or if he must then he faces Cena again at Mania...Orrrr Orton snaps and brings back the legend killer gimmick to go against the one legend he never took out...any of that is better then him beating Punk for the title and doesn't wrestle til PPV's then jobs the title to Cena....as for Punk and who he should drop it to....why does he have to drop it at all? At least not until one of these new guys is in the position to beat him...or...Miz even....they want Miz to be a monster face what better way then have him end the longest streak of the modern era? Hell if not Miz 6 months down the road Ryback get's his chance again....the possibilities are truly endless

What do you mean why does he have to drop it at all? Do you think he'll break Bruno Sammartino's record? At RR he will have been champion for 434 days which is the longest reigning champ of the 2000s, he's already established a legacy with that. Wrestling is always predictable, it's just the quality of the matches. We knew Taker was gonna beat Triple H but did that stop the match from being legendary, no. Sure Rock winning is predictable but so what that's the way wrestling is. Triple H interfering would be dumb because he's already feuding with Brock Lesnar, Kevin Nash would just be so random I don't see how that would work, Randy Orton shouldn't go back to his old gimmick he's already evolved from that. If he loses to Punk how does that give him the right to face Taker? Do you want him to say "well I lost to Punk so now I'm going for the streak"? If he faces Cena at WrestleMania, it should be for the title. If Ryback is getting a shot in 6 months, why can't Rock win at RR and then drop the title at WrestleMania? Ryback will look stronger by beating Cena who beat Rock. Having the Rock win will elevate the level of the title because of his star power. The title will go from a 434 day reign to a former 7 time champion who's one of the greats. Having Rock defend the title at WrestleMania one more time will be epic. Imagine Rock walking onto the grand stage with the belt slung over his shoulder, the sheer spectacle of it all.

It certainly stopped it for me.

those were just ideas...just showing the many different booking options....and Rock came out of nowhere to get a title shot too...so your coming out of nowhere argument holds no water...Rock beating Punk for the title is the wrong thing to do...give Punk 500 days....he has earned it
