Clint Eastwood’s war pic “American Sniper†starring Bradley Cooper is now set to bow with a limited release on Christmas Day.
The Warner Bros.-Village Roadshow co-production pic also stars Sienna Miller and Luke Grimes and will expand to a wide release in January.
Cooper will also produce.
The move shows that the studio sees this as another awards contender. Chances are, they will give it a hard push during award season.
The film is based on the true story of a Navy SEAL sniper whose is credited with the most confirmed kills in U.S. military history.
Warners also announced that it is moving “Man from Uncle†from its January 2015 release date to August 14, 2015 and that the “Point Break†reboot will shift back a week from August 7, 2015 to July 31, 2015.
I Clint Eastwood directed movie count me in and his film are always in award contention it seems.
