I haven't read the entire thread so apologies if I'm just repeating everything that has been said.
I agree with what people have said about a AEW/ROH split. I feel like this is how it was initially billed when ROH was being brought back and then as others have said it essentially became AEW Dark. As someone mentioned, if it continued as AEW Dark and had no reference of ROH, it would still be a fun show but because it's got a legacy attached to it, there's a certain expectation that Khan's era should carry the lineage of the company. I also feel the 'development' label only really works when there's people being developed - at the moment there's a lot of independent talent who feature, who aren't developmental at all.
On a positive note: I do think for the first time in ROH's history, the production looks like its had money put into it - one of the things I really wish they had in the SBG era.
I think if ROH is going to get more focus or alignment with its own history they need to treat it better outside of ROH TV. Currently, they'll build someone up on ROH TV and then have them compete on Dynamite in a squash match, which feels nonsensical when they have used so many enhancement talents previously and would have a sizeable roster without the ROH stars.
Secondly, the belts only ever seem to change hands outside of the weekly shows, which gives little reason to invest in it. Every time there has been a new World Champion, there's a renewed sense of maybe this person being the one to fly the ROH flag but then they go missing from ROH TV and make appearances on Dynamite where the World title feels like a mid-card belt. Then to top it off, the titles are booked on Battle of the Belts, which I don't think has ever changed hands and very few people get excited for. I get that they have Proving Ground matches but these always feel predictable.
If ROH TV is going to be hidden behind a paywall, then give people a reason to pay. They have a PPV coming up but the announcements just feel so lukewarm when you compare them to AEW. I don't know if it's a case that all the ROH regulars who have ended up on AEW would rather have 3 minutes on Collision or Rampage or if it's just that Tony wants things done a certain way but I do hope things get better. Although, the fact that the re-focus has been based around the exclusive signing of Mace and Mansoor doesn't give me hope that the show will adopt the same culture it once had.
