PWInsider.com has an interview up in their PWInsiderElite.com section with Bruno Sammartino. They spoke to him yesterday to get more information from him on his feelings regarding WWE wanting to induct him in the Hall of Fame. Some highlights of the interview were as follows:

Sammartino said he was impressed with Triple H, who conducted himself as a gentlemen. Triple H wanted to get an open line of communication and move past the bad relationship between Vince and Bruno.

Sammartino feels because of the issues he's had with WWE, he wouldn't feel right accepting their invitation. He also doesn't like that WWE doesn't have a physical location and that they've inducted celebrities and non-wrestlers in the past.

Bruno said as Vince McMahon is in the company, he doesn't think anything will happen between the two sides.

Triple H mentioned to Sammartino that Madison Square Garden is being looked at as a possible location for the Hall of Fame ceremony.

Triple H told him that he respects the wrestling of the past and was trying to move away from some of the racier stuff in the past.

I can totally agree with him on the celebrities and non-wrestlers. They have no purpose in the WWE HOF. Unless those non-wrestlers are managers of course. But it truly seems like he's just holding a grudge against Vince.

Because he believes Vince killed the business he made in the 60s and early 70s. Vince may have made it way more popular, but the WWE from the 80s to now is completely different than when Bruno was wrestling, and he hates what it has become.

Bruno damn near killed realistic wrestling in the 70s, his style was so damn phony it is laughable by todays standards, I take real issue with statements about Vince killing wrestling, when the New York territory was only second to Memphis in terms of phony looking matches.

But you can still do entertainment based wrestler and made it logical just like WWF did in the 80s and 90s and which it doesn't do enough today. Point is Memphis and promotions like it had their neich style and they stuck to it and they actually had a core of great workers and presented matches with important issues at stake that should be the foundation for any wrestling promotion.

Is this a finished thought?

Memphis had a niche, it doesn't mean tose yokels were any good.

I said the same thing about Hardcore wrestling and most Japanese wrestling.

Good to see HHH reaching out to him to try to sort out this situation. I don't mind Bruno still being reluctant to join but it would be nice for him to inducted before he passes away. It looks like things are moving forward now that HHH is talking to him so hopefully in a few years he can be inducted.
