Hasn't his whole thing supposedly been that he wouldn't keep people under contract who didn't wanna be there? The main things that came from their split was supposedly that Cody wanted to be paid more and they had different visions I think? Maybe it just looks better in a PR sense for them to not to come to terms on a new deal / amicably? part ways as opposed to picking his up his option and then him maybe requesting to be released?

Now TK has said he won’t “release” people this wouldn’t have been a release

No it's not even close to being similar cause Cage hasn't asked to leave lmao. It really comes off as Cwalker wanting AEW to be as bad as WWE. Plus again as stated he can do his own stuff plus be paid by AEW.

This has reminded me that I'm still baffled why a Cody option wasn't picked up lol I'm thinking Tony really didn't want him to come back more and more
