UPDATE: The talk in the TNA locker room is that talent relations head Bruce Prichard mistakenly allowed Bobby Roode's contract to expire. A source stated that Roode actually had to bring his contract status to the company's attention. As of right now, they are working to get a new deal done before tomorrow night's Lockdown pay-per-view. Roode can now play "hardball" if he chooses as he's booked and needed for the pay-per-view.

Story developing .... stay tuned for more.

According to TNA sources, there is some sort of a contract issue between Bobby Roode and TNA. If the issue is not worked out within the next 24 hours, Roode will not be performing at tomorrow's TNA Lockdown pay-per-view. Roode and Austin Aries are scheduled to defend the TNA tag titles against Chavo Guerrero Jr. and Hernandez as well as Christopher Daniels and Kazarian in a triple threat match.

Roode has not appeared on TNA TV since February 24th, missing the last two tapings. While people within TNA were keeping the issue quiet, it quickly became clear there was a problem since all the TNA talent was in San Antonio early for a fan fest today and there was no sign of Roode.

While TNA hasn't commented on the issue, word is that the contract issue dates back a few weeks and the two sides are talking to work things out.

It's pretty sad that they forgot about one of their few stars contract. This company is just a full of incoherent idiots for allowing it to happen. Hopefully Roode does the right thing and goes to the big leagues. No point in staying while they are trying to develop a faction with D'Lo Brown and other miscreants.

Not related to the topic, but I met Bobby Roode at a Tim Hortons in Canada in Woodbridge. Shook his hand and got a pic.

Good Ol' Prichard showing how valuable he is to the company. Hope WWE pick him up ASAP.

yeah definitely one of the very few TNA guys that could do really well in WWE...... he can work, he can talk, he's got a good look and he wouldn't suffer from the gauranteed gimmick/name change they would do.....

I think the guy is solid in all aspects of the game but I just don't see that one stand out quality in him that makes me get excited to see him on the TV.

The problem with Roode jumping to WWE is he would immediately be shipped of to NXT and virtually forgotten about by the majority of mainstream wrestling fans. Also this is why TNA will always be #2. Can anyone imagine WWE letting one of their top stars' contracts expire? Especially right before a huge pay per view when the person is holding a major championship.

That's what I thought as well, esp. since he's already 36, would he want to spend 8-12 months in FCW/NXT?

A couple days before Wrestlemania, WWE.com publishes an article saying that Cena vs Rock 2, the main event of Wrestlemania is off because The Rocks contract expired a week before.

Pretty sure they let The Rock's contract run out and funnily enough I was just watching a Bret Hart video where he said his contract was left to run, or only had single digit days left on it.

It is a big blunder on their part, but then doesn't Roode has to take some of the blame too? I mean surely he should be aware that his own contract is coming up for renewal. Unless he is offered a good mid-uppercard slot with WWE I think he should stay with TNA. He is bound to get a pay rise there when or if he does sign a new deal and is easily one of their top names.

Looks like on an update from PWInsider, Bobby Roode is now in San Antonio and will be working tonight's PPV.

Looks like TNA and Roode have worked out their contract issues.

:( What a shame.

And there goes the WWE chance (if there even was one). Hilarious situation either way and just another example that TNA is still operating like a bush league indie fed.

TNA has used non-contracted performers countless times in their PPVs. Sounds like a story to generate some buzz for a PPV noone is giving a shit about.

It's possible that they have only reached an agreement for tonight and he is still done with the company, though I doubt it.

On the note of Prichard somehow forgetting about Roode's contract this is the 2nd time TNA has allowed a champions contract to expire in the past year. Granted they were aware of Devon's contract coming up but how do you not manage to get him resigned or have him drop the title before leaving? Seriously this stuff didn't happen on Taylor's watch.
