That being said i cant play on other ppls settings either it never sounds right. I think its a guitarist thing where if its not tuned to ur specifications it sounds off.

Yes but his sound would be slightly different on a different. guitar and amp. The fact u cant replicatw his sound doesnt mean the gear isnt a factor. Switch ur pickups position on any electric guitar, it doesnt sound the same when you switch. The difference is that your guitarist has mastered his instrument. Trust me, i still fucking suck and can hide a lot of my faults behind a superior setup. Anectodal as well but ya. Main point is not all amps and pickups are equal and cheaper shit still has limitations.

Yes, I was pretty good too and placed in the regional stuff, even did an after school jazz specific band for a bit. Can't play shit by ear tho, was just good at reading music really lol

Hated the school band system, directors, and marching which was mandatory so quit before high school

No i believe ur anecdote n know what ur saying. I just see manipulatimg your amp tone as part of mastering the axe which is why the best can sound good everywhere but god like on the good shit. Its all good tho we can agree to disagree n move on regardless, its semantics at this point

Yeah i just learned via tabs.I can read sheet music but i never learned in on guitar. Worked out ok still
