Going back to the original question, does the company risk Batista getting injured again? As in does the WWE risk it? I doubt they care aside from him missing commitments to their schedule. If it makes him lose a movie role and stick around longer because he lost some lucrative movie jobs, that works out for them. I don't know that they make it a priority to protect a wrestler's potential, second career.
I think the concern from the WWE's side is his potentially being in a position again where he really doesn't need them. The comeback was potentially good money. There was probably some personal fulfillment, he seemed to like the life of being a rassler and spoke of how he'd like to end his career as an in-ring performer. I'm not sure how they might feel about someone who could just walk off at any time if he felt promises weren't being kept. They could see it as someone taking his ball and going him, as they so infamously put it in the cases of Austin and Punk.
Still, from the WWE side of things, I have to think they're interested in doing business with the guy. Why not at least get some sort of program where he can work one of the main attractions for Wrestlemania? Unfortunately from the WWE's side of things, they're at the mercy of his film schedule. When that was happening with The Rock, you saw how they handled it.
