and yeah I can't stand mostly talking with a bit of wrestling, that's where some of us will differ. 60+% of talking is no bueno for me, if I wanted that i'd watch tv show. I also will always push back that matches are not stories.
See, I view wrestling as a tv show. That’s how I was hooked.

It’s the same thing with YouTube. I’m 99% more likely to click on a segment whether it’s an older day one or even a current day one than to click on a match. I’ll watch the match when I watch the actual show, but I’ll only really watch a segment if I’m just clicking on it to watch that one thing.

I’m honestly more entertained by a good promo than I am straight wrestling matches if watching in isolation. I can honestly go on a promo rabbit hole all day, but will rarely watch match after match if they’re not on the same show.

and that's why I am forever grateful for AEW, I don't have to sit through 20 minute soliloquies to watch a mid 5 minute match :p
Waddles even mentions this. He loves how AEW starts with matches and not people talking

yeah i know and we will never agree - i watch wrestling to see action not a soap.i like stories too but i don't need them to take up the majority of the show with bad acting

Sad part is these mfers found a formula and haven’t deviated from it in 20 years

There aren’t five-minute matches, but that’s also what I gravitate towards dynamite sometimes more than rampage or even collision lately is because dynamite will still often have a ton of promos and segments.

Of course, but to me wrestling IS soap. Always was.

For me action is the payoff to a properly built story.

Practically anything that wasn't the main event of a PPV was usually gonna suck, match quality-wise, through a modern wrestling lens. I still find the shit entertaining though.
that's why we call you big dumb hoss

yes my point here is the promos and segments move quickly - there's no super long entrance - pause - commercial - promo - commercial - other person walks out - promo - commercial- MAYBE a match now. I'm exaggerating but you get the idea. I do think Dynamite has my favorite format, yes. the period where Collision was doing 30 minute matches every saturday to close the show was great but a bit much too. still need some sense of balance.

Oh I’m fine with the show starting with a match. WCW usually did too.

That's the shit that nearly guarantees I'll never watch WWE weekly again. Especially Raw, with it being 3 hours. The stalling and filler shit is just completely out of control.

Oh I do think the way wwe formats the breaks during segment entrances is stupid too. Imagine being in the crowd while the guy with a mic stands there.

But I still think dynamite has equally long segments. They just better structure the breaks. I actually think they put them more on matches because they can do pip where wwe doesn’t.
