[BGCOLOR=rgb(255, 0, 0)]American Football Association[/BGCOLOR]

June 2019

News broke of a new football league entering play in the world of sports as several prominent businessmen and former NFL players came together to form a new functioning body: The American Football Association. According to reports, the league is attempting to start to play in the Spring-Summer of 2022. There will be twelve teams, each spread throughout the United States in cities in which the NFL does not have a current presence. They are supposedly akin to the XFL that will be starting play back up next year. However, it appears that the governing body has more funds to work with, having a chair of stockholders and an official business structure.

One wonders what cities will be selected by the AFA and what kind of talent they could garner within the league. We will keep readers updated on any events occurring regarding the league.

It's A New Football Experience!
*Yeah, so this is an attempt at a fun new fictional football league hosted by yours truly, and "owned" by members of this site. Feel free to join if you wish, and you won't have to do much other than drafting your new team and seeing how your team succeeds in the league! More updates to follow.

[BGCOLOR=rgb(0, 100, 0)]Albuquerque Vipers[/BGCOLOR]
@Loochferatu
The Albuquerque Vipers, also nicknamed the ABQ Vipers, was founded by German automobile magnate Wayne Looch as part of the AFA's founding. Looch had immigrated to the United States as a child during the 1970s to escape the influence of the Soviet Union. He later set up Looch Automobile and has been a part of the American automobile industry since 1982. Wayne chose the New Mexico area as a place to start a football team, citing that the area needed representation on a national stage, with its fellow states Arizona and Texas having many major sports teams. It is also where Looch's industry is headquartered.

The "Vipers" name originates from the desert atmosphere and the presence of rattlesnakes and other vipers within the New Mexico area. It represents a quick, dangerous opponent that one must never take lightly.

[BGCOLOR=rgb(165, 0, 33)]Birmingham Blazers[/BGCOLOR]
@Charles Lee Blaze
Brandon Blaze was a lifelong fan of Atlanta sports as well as NASCAR. Blaze was born in Savannah, Georgia, in 1969, during a tumultuous time. In 1999, Blaze started his own NASCAR racing organization, known as "Blaze Racing", and became a popular fixture in the new era of NASCAR. With millions of dollars in his pocket, and seeking to expand his portfolio, he formed the "Birmingham Blazers" as the AFA was starting up. Blaze decided on Birmingham, Alabama as a way to garner fans from both Georgia and Mississippi

The "Blazers" name represents an eternal fire living on in the United States, a fire that refuses to die regardless of the conditions. Though named after Brandon Blaze, the owner, it doesn't mean it is not an apt name for the Alabama-based team.

[BGCOLOR=rgb(183, 65, 14)]Boise Bighorns[/BGCOLOR]
@Kiffy Pop
Donald Kif, beer magnate and die-hard sports fan, was born in Boise in 1970 and lived there all his life. When he opened his brewing company, his recipe for "Boise Brand Starch Beer" became an instant sensation and has been a popular fixture in America since the 1990s. When the AFA was in the works of being founded, Donald Kif helped found the Boise Bighorns. This team is reasoned to have representation in the Rocky Mountain region, to complement the other teams in the Northwest Division.

The name of the "Bighorns" comes from the Bighorn Sheep that are located throughout the Rocky Mountain regions of the United States and Canada. It represents a tough, hardened will to fight and an ability to push past any obstacles.

[BGCOLOR=rgb(0, 0, 139)]Columbus Union[/BGCOLOR]
@Princess Beavie
The Columbus Union was formed following the founding of the American Football Association and is owned and operated by Mary Beavie of Beavie Incorporated. The company was founded in 1992 as a healthcare provider, famous for its policies and goodwill throughout the entirety of the United States. The company, which is located in Columbus, Ohio, made perfect sense for a football team, as it is a perfect central location between Cincinnati, Cleveland, and Pittsburgh, three other major football locales.

The "Union" name derives from the name the United States of America adopted during the American Civil War, against the Confederate States of America. It represents the strength to stand up and fight with all one has for the sake of victory.

[BGCOLOR=rgb(0, 35, 102)]Memphis Royale[/BGCOLOR]
@Doom Slayer
The Memphis Royale was among the easiest choices for the American Football League, as far as cities go. One of the principal founders, John S. Doom, was a wealthy real estate magnate from the Memphis area, and sought for years to garner a football team. When the NFL moved the Houston Oilers to Memphis for a short-term stay, Doom attempted to co-opt ownership and buy the team outright to keep them in Memphis. When it didn't work, Doom tried with the XFL. For several years afterward, John Doom stayed quiet, until the AFA was forming. Seeing this as his opportunity to finally have a football team in Memphis, he joined and formed the Royale.

The Memphis Royale name is a play-on-words based on two very famous "Kings" of Memphis: musician Elvis Presley, and professional wrestler Jerry "The King" Lawler. It represents Memphis as the birthplace of royalty and kings, both in ancient times and in modern. It is here that kings are made, but they have to earn it through victory.

[BGCOLOR=rgb(215, 85, 42)]Milwaukee Robins[/BGCOLOR]
@Grim Reaper
The Milwaukee Robins was formed by Scott Anderson, the owner and CEO of the video game company known as "Fog Incorporated". Born in Minnesota in 1984, he started out as an employee of Microsoft and later EA, but went independent and formed Fog in 2005. In 2010, he founded "Lever", a video game distribution service that made him millions of dollars. When the American Football Association was forming, Anderson chose Milwaukee as the site for a new football team, intending to garner fans from not only Minnesota, but Green Bay, Detroit, and Chicago as well.

The "Robins" is named after Wisconsin's state bird, the Robin. It represents an ability to fly past opponents to victory, through rain or sleet or snow.

[BGCOLOR=rgb(197, 32, 50)]Portland Oxen[/BGCOLOR]
@Jeffrey Dahmer
The Portland Oxen were formed during the opening of the AFA by Canadian Manufacturing giant Jean-Francois Driver. Having formed "Driver Manufacturing Incorporated" in 1987, his company grew and expanded larger through time, expanding into the US, particularly the forested areas of Washington and Oregon. Driver himself chose Portland to bring together fans from Washington and Northern California, but also to bring goodwill to the local region for his company.

The "Oxen" name is based on the pioneers and settlers of the Oregon Trail, who went through hard times and extreme obstacles to settle in a new land. It is for this reason that the Oxen are strong, and never will give up, even in the face of adversity.

[BGCOLOR=rgb(128, 0, 128)]Orlando Sunshine[/BGCOLOR]
@Suplexorcist
Brandon Strong was born in 1975 on the sunny shores of Orlando, Florida. Having come from a wealthy family himself, Brandon from an early age was the heir to the Strong Mining Corporation. Using his funds to fund public works in the Florida area. As the AFA was forming, Brandon Strong utilized his funds to create a team in the Orlando area. With a team in Central Florida, it allows for fans from Miami, Tampa Bay, and Jacksonville to travel a short distance to see the Sunshine play.

The "Sunshine" name is in regards to Florida's nickname as the Sunshine state, as well as Orlando being a major city for tourism within the US. The Sunshine remains bright and strong against any competition that comes its way and never dampens.

[BGCOLOR=rgb(44, 130, 201)]Salt Lake Legionnaires[/BGCOLOR]
@Sanguinello
The Salt Lake Legionnaires were founded alongside the AFA's formulation, and are owned and operated by Katie Sanguinello, a private businesswoman known for her brand of retail stores. Sanguinello was born in 1971 and started her retail brand in 1997. She chose Salt Lake City, Utah since it was her home base for her retail stores, and Salt Lake was also seeking a professional sports team of any kind.

The "Legionnaires" name represents its legion of fans, who ready themselves for battle and prepare for war each and every week of the season.

[BGCOLOR=rgb(220, 20, 60)]San Antonio [/BGCOLOR][BGCOLOR=rgb(220, 20, 60)]Banditos[/BGCOLOR]
@Chris
The San Antonio Banditos were formed by local Real Estate mogul Christopher Cunningham. Cunningham, born in 1974, was a San Antonio native all his life, and utilizing traditional business strategies to build his empire, felt that San Antonio deserved a sports franchise. When the NFL snubbed the city, Cunningham bid his time. With the AFA, Christopher finally saw his chance to form a sports team for the city.

The "Banditos" name is a callback to the mythical Wild West, where gunslingers, sherriffs, and bandits collided in a wild time. It is also in honoring the Hispanic heritage of the city of San Antonio itself.

[BGCOLOR=rgb(0, 0, 128)]San Diego Midway[/BGCOLOR]
@Jimmy King
Jimmy King founded the San Diego Midway during the foundation of the American Football League; King was a lifelong Chargers fan. When the team moved to Los Angeles, King felt the city was robbed of a great franchise. With his connections and thanks in part to Jimmy King Enterprises, he created a new team for the league.

The name of "Midway" is in honor of the USS Midway, harbored in San Diego. It is a representation of the indomitable spirit of San Diego, and furthermore, America itself.

[BGCOLOR=rgb(0, 0, 205)]St. Louis Grapplers[/BGCOLOR]
@Jobber Doink
James Doink founded the Grapplers upon the founding of the AFA. Doink was born in 1978 in St. Louis, Missouri. Having become the founder and President of Doink Accounting, a major firm within the United States. When the St. Louis Rams left the city for LA, Doink hoped to form a new franchise for the city. With the AFA, James finally found his chance.

The "Grapplers" name is originated from both the long history of professional wrestling within the city of St. Louis, alongside the Cauliflower Alley Club. It is representative of the team outclassing opponents in a fight, and able to come back from anything thrown their way.

Basically, you can do any college coach, NFL Assistant Coach, or a Special Teams Coach within the NFL, or any not currently working (see Brad Childress for example). No current head coaches or coordinators.

Love the backstories. Fitting how the Canadian is known as a Health Care provider BECAUSE Y'ALL HEALTH CARE SYSTEM SUCKS!

Also Beavie Incorporated has also been dabbling in cruelty-free cosmetics, and Mary Beavie is also looking to invest in her own fashion lines, one for everyday wear and the other for athletics. She's a very busy woman.

That makes a lot of sense, because I was a bit confused.
