New Japan and All Japan founders, Inoki and Baba, came from JWA. And from there it, JWA, split into New Japan and All Japan, and then NOAH split from All Japan

I don't remember the AJPW/NJPW split details much but something like that yeah and NOAH was made by a big exodus of top stars in the 2000 for sure

JWA was the only promotion in Japan, and was ran by Rikidozan. When he died his two prized students, Inoki and Baba, couldn't decided on a style as one liked Strong Style and the other liked what became Kings Road style. So JWA went under and New Japan Pro-Wrestling and All Japan Pro-Wrestling were formed and both had their styles. Then later Misawa after getting tired of Baba's wife shit after Baba's death said fuck this place I am out, and created NOAH, named after the bible story. But, New Japan had the same thing when several of its people, including Akira Maeda, Yoshiaki Fujiwara, and Rusher Kimura to name a few, wanted a different style and went one to create Shoot Style, which became the base for MMA.

When I was looking into this myself, I remember like after Baba died so many people fought over who was going to run the new company that pretty much like 80% of them left the form Noah, so noah was more or less the true continuation of the original AJPW.

Yeah because according to a lot of people Baba's wife took over and she was a real bitch. There was also Sem, and lasted a bit and was ran by Marufuji and KENTA

It’s an amazing thing to think about for being such a relatively small island country, Japan can support so many large wrestling promotions. They can all just splinter from each other and can all continue to thrive for 4+ decades.
