All American vs. All European

The way it seems to be going right now, I think WWE is really hinting at a Jack Swagger vs. Antonio Cesaro US title match. Antonio in the latest backstage fallout said that he thinks all Americans are cowards, because he keeps trying to challenge them, but keeps getting foreigners instead. This could lead to Antonio claiming that no American can beat him...cue the All American American.

This would make a good mid card feud. Would make Swagger face, and put him back on TV again. Its nothing but win win for everyone. Hell, I could see them pushing this to WrestleMania, bringing in the European title along the way in the feud and doing US Champion Jack Swagger vs. European Champion Antonio Cesaro for the title unification at WrestleMania.

Can you see this happening, and what would you do with Cesaro?

I don't know what makes you think Swagger is going to comeback as the All American American. I'm pretty sure they took him off of TV to repackage him so bringing him back with the same schtick as when he left would be kind of dumb.

I don't see a reason to cut it, I mean, they never tried it as a face, so why not? It's an easy gimmick to get a cheap patriotic pop. I think it could easily work as a face, with a lack of Patriots right now in the WWE.

Why don't they start pushing Derrick Bateman as "THAT USA GUY" and give him a mini-feud with Cesaro. Shit, you may as well make someone else look relevant for a short time.

It'd be a nice way for Swagger to come back and turn face, and probably a gimmick tweak. The matches between Cesaro and Swagger would be an interesting clash of two athletic, big guys, and especially so to watch Swagger work a babyface style. But the fued would probably be sloppy and porrly handled, tasteless at worst.

Though I wouldn't mind this, I think it's more likely Bateman debuts as The USA Guy to face Cesaro. Especially since WWE's Twitter account has been tweeting about the videos some.

Bateman was the guy I initially thought would be talked about when I read the title. Swagger needs a new gimmick anyway. The All American American could only work so much. Bateman seems like he could be a great face American guy to be the hero of the WWE Universe.

It would be a good way to reintroduce Swagger, yes it is basically the same gimmick but it would be an easy way to get him over as a face. They are definitely leading to a feud between Cesaro and an American so that they can play up the international rivalry. Would finally be a way to make Swagger credible again if he can pull off a good back and forth feud with Cesaro.

Wouldn't be the worst way to bring Bateman in either, I remember WWE promoting his videos a little bit a few months back but haven't heard anything recently about them. Has the gimmick been scrapped or is he still doing it?

It would be a good way to get Swagger on TV but I also agree a new gimmick would probably be better. Bringing in Bateman as THE USA GUY or whatever would work for me but I don't think he's all that good and it would get stale really quick.
