Jodi Foster couldn't hide the fact she's a complete flaming carpet muncher if her life depended on it. The only movie that she sort of did a good job at it was "Maverick". And I don't have any issue with her sexuality obviously, but if there's a pointless love story in a movie that involves her and she can't shake her butch personality for 5 seconds, then why not just cast her as a lesbian? And it's not just "Contact" she's like that in either, she's with a dude in almost every single one of her movies and there's nothing even remotely feminine about her.

I think she is very beautiful actually just in a more naturalistic way. Think it says more about your sexism than you just can't judge her on her acting skills without bringing her looks into it.

Erm... I said absolutely nothing about her looks actually. I was speaking solely about her shodding acting ability. But okay.

I think you both deserve to be aducted by Aliens for your constant hate of Jodie Foster. She is one of the great actresses of the last 40 years and gets me interested in even the dullest of films!

Does that mean you should be probed up the butt for liking her so much?

Ok I did misread your post slightly, but I don't see how when she is called upon to be a love interest how she doesn't pull it off.

Any discussion relating to Jodie Foster which has nothing to do with actual extraterrestrial life should go here. (Yes, I'm completely cashing in on this topic to get some more discussion in the Entertainment section.)

This just in Jodie Foster more important than Aliens.

But this discussion is kinda at a loss it's do you or don't you.

A good swerve to that movie "Contact" would have been the government refusing to let her make first contact with the aliens because she's gay and they thought it would confuse the hell out of the aliens she met. Then you could have made a giant fucking political statement out of that movie and it would have been a million times better. Rather than harping on the whole "faith" nonsense and basically saying "traveling to distant stars is a lot like believing in God" which didn't make any fucking sense whatsoever.

I have to believe in aliens, I believe in parallel universes ffs(so in one universe, yes you are Batman, but on the other hand, in another, you are Aquaman).

Some things that have been said made me think of South Park. In one episode they claim that earth is the planet where species from all over the universe were thrown into to become the Big Brother series in space. It is rather interesting when you think of the animals, insects, arachnids, or fish that look like they shouldn't even belong on this planet.

But looking across the vast amount of Sci-Fi resources, there are races in almost anything that evolved from something other than "monkeys"(to quote Frieza), the Shi'Ar from X-Men evolved from birds, Clingons evolved from reptiles, yet both are humanoids.

Always been interested in this. I'm a great believer in the vastness of the Universe so I firmly believe in ET life, however I also appreciate of the science that states it's almost impossible that we've been visited by such beings. As far as I'm concerned; it's out there, but not close enough.

I did stumble across this recently, mental stuff, but an interesting read nonetheless
