Alex Riley Injury Update

I wouldn't say he got himself over at all. Ryder got himself over, Riley got over by being Miz' bitch for several months.

Riley didn't get himself over in the slightest, he got over because of how WWE booked him. There's absolutely nothing wrong with that, but saying he got himself over is laughable.

How the WWE booked him is still getting yourself over.

How so? I'd say getting yourself over is doing what Ryder did, with hardly any help from WWE and basically forcing them to use him.

Just think about it, WWE booked him to get over The Miz and the fans even wanted to see A-Ry turn against Miz. A-Ry started getting loud pops when he came out during that feud and did so when it seemed like he was about to get a US title feud push with Ziggler, but that stopped. He got himself over and can do it again as long as they give him a proper chance.

Actually I disagree.

In my mind getting yourself over means that you have the ability to work with whatever is given to you by the company and inturn get a reaction from the fans thus getting yourself over with the crowd whether you are a face or a heel. What Zack Ryder done was totally different but those geeky internet shows will only get you so far. Alex Riley was over and he was at that stage when he started to beat down The Miz. If creative want to get someone over they will.

I never liked Riley. He was good as Miz's sidekick but I never found him entertaining is singles competitor. Yes, burn me but I'm not a fan of his. He is the new-age Cena for me. He has that superstar factor in him but it just doesn't catch my eye. I could care less.

I couldn't disagree more. It truly depends on the person they are trying to get over. Ryder did it all on his own. Marella seems to be easy for it, considering his funny Italian accent and stuff. John Cena has charisma and actually worked hard for it, and CM Punk is a natural at it. You can tell he loves doing what he's doing. Riley could easily be that guy too, he has some charisma, and seems like a happy guy. Creative cannot control who gets over...

I'll agree with that (though Ryder did get himself over as well, I still think that), but I don't believe Riley has that ability without a good bit of help in the booking department. I don't remember him being over at all while he was Miz's lackey other than the heat he'd get just from being associated from Miz because Miz was so over as a heel. He didn't start to get over until he had his Virgil moment, which went over huge because of how over Miz was as a hell. Now, the fact that Riley has remained as over as he has after all these months of hardly anything does say something though, most people would not have been able to maintain that.

Not a fan of Alex Riley either. He has a good look, and managed to get really over when he turned on The Miz, but in the ring I think he's very poor. I don't think I'll ever forget his pathetic attempt at a Texas Cloverleaf last year. Seriously, it was just... awful.

Still though, he could have been a popular wrestler if they just kept his momentum going. I know creative are very inconsistent when it comes to pushing stars, but you really have to wonder what it was that made them leave him off TV every week after that successful face turn.

Again, you cannot control what creative do. If they have an idea they want you to follow and work with then they will give that to you. It's not like you can just bust open the door during a creative meeting and say "I want this...". John Cena did not work hard, he got given the ball and ran with it. Working hard for your spot and being given the top spot are two very different things. Remember CM Punk's first title reign when he dropped the ball? He is a natural at that too!

Anyone who gets given the opportunity of being the top wrestler within the company and takes it with both hands deserves to be where they are at. So no, I'm not suggesting John Cena does not deserve to be where he is. Personally, I'm not a Cena fan but I respect what he has achieved. If you are given the top spot within the company then you don't have to work too hard to stay there, do you? Just like The Rock and Steve Austin, Cena was given the ball and has done well not to drop it (mainly because WWE is now PG).
