If a show is guaranteed a slot it is often times set in stone. If it isn't then it isn't guaranteed. A network putting a wrestling show whenever it feels like it is not the same as giving All Japan a three-month guaranteed contract.
Then I guess by those parameters no wrestling in Japan has guaranteed TV. Not New Japan, not All Japan, not NOAH, no one.

The days of All Japan's weekly TV slot on Nippon TV in the 90s are long gone.

But again, wrestling in Japan is much more a live experience medium

If wrestling in Japan is better as a live medium then why boast about All Japan's non-existent guaranteed TV deal?

I'm just pointing out that they have TV. By Japanese television standards for wrestling they have guaranteed TV. But it operates under different rules than what we use here in the west.

And I never said it was better as a live medium. I said it was more of a live medium. Japanese wrestling as a whole isn't as story driven (or at least not in the same sense) as western wrestling. As you yourself said earlier in this thread, it is treated more as a sport. There are a few promotions that deviate from the norm obviously but I think you and I both can agree that Japanese wrestling is more match driven than promo/story driven.

That being said, the rulebook for wrestling on TV in Japan is just different than the one for western wrestling. Most of them have TV, they just don't have "Monday Night RAW" because it isn't the norm in the business over there.

It's a TV deal but it doesn't have a consistent schedule, gets preempted by other sports like women's volleyball, is guaranteed a TV deal except when it isn't, and is on TV when the networks feel like putting it on. That is the gist of your argument. Correct?

Getting preempted by volleyball was an exception. Stopspot said they have a couple guaranteed shows per month. The only difference from american TV is that it's not "every thursday at 8" but "we guarantee we'll air 3 of your shows this month", but still guaranteed.

I think it's mostly due to their taping schedule being so much different than WWE's, but... Yeah. Good stuff.
