AEW is working on signing The Elite (Kenny Omega and the Young Bucks) to new long-term contracts before they hit free agency.

Dave Meltzer reported the news in this week's Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

All three men are founding members of AEW and also hold executive vice president roles.

In January, Meltzer said that AEW was interested in re-signing Matt & Nick Jackson to new deals but that process had yet to begin.

In late-February, Meltzer reported that Omega's contract, which was set to expire at the end of January was extended by an unknown amount of time due to the eight months he missed due to injury.

The three were suspended following last September's post-All Out fight with CM Punk and Ace Steel. While Steel was released, Punk remains under contract as he is recovering from an torn triceps injury he suffered in his match with Jon Moxley that same night.

If the Bucks and Omega do re-sign, it would end the speculation of all three going to WWE.

From Meltzer:

"With the Bucks, while they may do well in WWE, it’s not guaranteed, and they will have a better schedule in AEW meaning more time with the family and also less matches and can do their style. With Omega, he doesn’t have kids and he would likely get a major push and would have no end to having fresh opponents. It would also close the door to Japan that he’s waited years to re-open. But he did at least consider and have talks with WWE 2018-19 and wasn’t negative about WWE at all while making his choice to go to AEW. (Tony) Khan did say he hoped Omega would be in the company for a long time to come."

In the last year, AEW has re-signed both Jon Moxley and Chris Jericho to high-profile deals before their contracts were up.

I think they re-sign, I can't see why they would go to WWE when they've never wanted to before.

Would be interested in Kenny in WWE but not the Bucks tbh.

I lean towards Kenny going to Japan if he leaves AEW rather than going to WWE. Whilst I agree he would have fresh match ups in WWE, there are still a lot of match ups for him in AEW one on one wise that haven't been done yet in the company e.g. Swerve, MJF, Black, Hobbs, Keith Lee, Murphy, Brodie King, Darby Allin, Adam Cole etc

Lots of interest in Kenny from WWE. Could possibly see him going over. The Reeee would be amazing!

The Bucks can stay right where they are.

I don't see them moving, aew will pay them a big raise most likely. Saying WWE is interested is like saying water is wet

I also find it hilarious people think The Bucks would not make the WWE tag division relevant instantly

Only reason Kenny would leave is to work AJ at a Mania.

I’m sure there’s “interest” in WWE for all 3, but I doubt Hunter would give 2 shits about the Bucks to actually do something with them. They wouldn’t be higher on the pecking order than New Day or the Usos.

It would be Moreso about taking them away from AEW. And tbh, it wouldn’t be worth wasting the money.

As cool as it would be to see them all in WWE and as much as I’d love to see Bucks vs Usos, Kenny vs just about anybody, or The Elite vs The New Day, I see them sticking around in AEW.

Fwiw they offered the bucks half a mill each w an out clause in 2019. I think they would b pushed pretty hard.

I do agree with you signing people just to keep them away from AEW is bad business and a good way to get a bloated roster though

Would still rely on consistent booking in the tag division tho. I doubt it's crazy money so not the best comparison, but i bet they overpaid the good brothers last year and since AJ has been hurt they've barely appeared on TV....wrestled Maximum Male Models on Main Event this week lol (funny ass match FWIW)

I mean AEW does it too

But you’re right; it’s not worth it
