I respect that some people think it was out of line and it probably was, but I also think it's a complete non issue as it has been smoothed out and no one was hurt. I will also fully admit I was greatly entertained by it and selfishly if no one is hurt idgaf about hurt feelings that lasted like 2 minutes at most

They are lucky because in todays climate considering the kid was a minority his mother could of really made it about racism and blew it way out of proportion. I think Max has to think more about the optics of these things.

Eh, from prior history with other wrestlers, you can probably assume who I'm referring to. It doesn't fly as long as it has been going on with MJF until the locker room turns on you if you're a complete and utter dick.

Yeah I’m a bit confused on this. Like they sale Tequila at shows? That just don’t seem like something that they have.

Almost every major sports arena sells spirits, so yes, you can buy tequila at shows. Hell, I bought Scotch at both Elimination Chamber (major arena) and the WWE Holiday House Show I attended back in December, which was at a minor league arena.

I just want to ask a question that I’m pretty sure I know the answer to, but, to anyone that’s alright with this or thinks it’s a non issue, do you by any chance have children of your own?

Interesting. Didn’t think they have hard liquor at shows. Seems odd.

I do not. Like I agree he shouldn’t have done it. But I guess the reason I don’t see it as a huge deal, if it’s water I’d probably see it as a memory to have forever. Years from now when I rewatch the show I’ll smile seeing it. But I understand people having an issue with it also.

Nope, why does it matter? I understand the initial emotional response but again...did anyone get hurt? No. Did aew bring him backstage? Yes. At the end of the you can get upset on other ppls behalfs because of your own kids but it doesnt really the change the fact that it was ultimately harmless and got more ppl to talk abpit him n hate him. Almost like he is a heel (not trying to be a dick). I dont think he should do it again but also i think the online pearl clutching is a bit dramatic

It matters cuz you have a different mindset if you put yourself in the parents shoes and have kids of your own. I’m sure that’s why he asked the question cuz he does have a child of his own.

no I get putting yourself in a parents position but that parent isn't upset or complaining online, so again, you are getting upset on behalf of someone who is no longer upset. that's more my point, there is no need to be up in arms about this (not saying you specifically) because ultimately, everything ended up being fine

I don’t believe we are getting upset on behalf of the parent I think we are just saying that it was a dick move on his behalf and didn’t need to be done

I am not saying anyone here is up in arms either, fwiw, more referring to certain loud corners of the internet. for example on reddit there is two threads. one showing the initial incident where everyone is freeaking out. another thread with the kid backstage where everyone is laughing and making jokes and celbbrating the kid getting to see cool shit. 2 completely different narratives in each thread. shit is wild.

It matters because if it was your kid you likely wouldn’t be as flippant with your response. Every child is completely different and reacts to situations like this in completely different ways. My 10 year old son would probably laugh it off (if it were water, not booze), as would my girlfriend’s 11 year old daughter. Her 7 year old would be devastated, though, and wouldn’t be interested in going backstage to meet people, as if that’s suppose to make it better.

Not to mention, whether my son would be fine with it or not wouldn’t mean I was, and if you were a parent you’d know that your primary responsibility is to protect your children from everything. You’d also know how terrible it feels when you can’t do so, whether it’s from a fight in the schoolyard or from a dude throwing water/booze on them at a wrestling show.

It’s entirely possible that there’s a lot of pearl clutching going on from the AEW Hater’s Club (a quick trip over to the usual spots on Reddit will prove that) but that doesn’t mean there isn’t something inherently rotten about what MJF did last night.

As always, the truth lies somewhere in the middle.

I mean I am of the belief heels should do rotten things, and he pushed the envelope a bit much last night. I don't really want him to stop fucking with fans though. There are SOME inherent dangers to going to a wrestling show too, though those are generally accidental and not targeted.

end of the day I understand protecting your children and things could have gotten south. Still think it was fucking hilarious and his answer at the presser was gold.

If someone had thrown a drink at MJF, they’d have been tossed out of the show immediately. I’m fact, if I’m not mistaken, someone actually did get thrown out during the main event last night. At the very least, performers should be held to the same standards.

At the end of the day, though, this will almost assuredly blow over, but I think curbing the behaviour a little in the future will go a long way.
