oh yeah most definitely the injury wasn't the REASON he was terminated. It just sucks in general. Also no no-compete means he isn't getting paid at all anymore which sucks even more for him as now he can't work nor does he have any paycheck coming.
The only consolation is he'll still get merch royalties and can obviously now starting peddling more of his own merch through the normal channels.

yeah but he'd still get merch royalties and could do that even with a non-compete.

I like that there isn't a non-compete but I would hope at least TK would do a severance package or something. Especially for someone like him who is unable to work at all right now.

again Storm that depends how his contract was structured - I'm not so sure he was ever a full time talent with a guaranteed deal in the first place. Also, a broken jaw is like a 4-6 weeks injury typically so it's not like he will be out of work for months. I would assume most independant contractors like him have money aside for when they are hurt or not booked (assuming he doesn't have a day job which he might)

Still sucks though don't get me wrong, I would not ever cut anyone injured and would just wait.

so ya I think at this time we can all assume none of these were asked releases and they are evaluating their talent as was reported by PWINSIDER

So I think it was Chris that brought up the full quote and I saw someone elsewhere posted it - TK on cuts

"I didn't do what my competition did, which was mass layoffs. Laying off dozens, and dozens, and dozens of people, which I have yet to do," Tony explained. ”There eventually may come a time to cut my costs and do it but not in the middle of a global pandemic, or even in the wake of a global pandemic when work is hard to come by. It was not the time to do it. And even though it hurt the bottom line of the company to keep some people on who weren't even coming to the shows. They were staying home because they were worried about COVID. I kept all these people on and we weren't getting any revenue out of them, but it wasn't– as a human being, it wasn't the right thing to do."

now I have seen other quotes where he is more steadfast on the no cut thing but the context again was him talking about a period where WWE was doing numerous mass layoffs in a short amount of period.

Still, interesting quotes to look back on now.

This is why I think you can make a case for most people having some form of hypocrisy when you just look at a situation on paper, but this is why I always like to delve deeper and look at the small details because a lot of the times it’s what matters. Sure Tony at one point didn’t want to have to resort to cuts, but he was very specifically talking about during a global pandemic. It’s not the same thing anymore. Like Jeff said earlier, the Indies are thriving. I’m sure it’s painful to lose a job that you loved but Henry will be able to find a job almost immediately when he decides to start looking.

Yeah people just call out hypocrisy as an excuse to avoid stating their opinions a lot lmao it's so boring bc tbh we're all hypocrites and biased there's no way around it

Like for this situation for example, everyone that defended WWE's releases can't criticize these. But they can avoid defending them by just using the hypocrisy line, it's wild lol

And yeah some AEW homers are 100% being hypocritical defending these so hard, but I've seen some usual big time AEW defenders down as well like that Brain Damage guy that's always on Tony's dick
