Like I can guarantee you at some point the young bucks will be complaining about some young kid not listening to them and that’s not me trying to bury them or anything I’m just using an example because they obviously blazed their own trails and what not but they’ll get to that point when they’ll be like all these young whipperssnapper‘s not listening when we made this company and built a career and moved merch we know what we’re doing.

I don't know about that. Others I can see doing that but not EVERY veteran is like that. Omega and Bucks feel like ones who won't be like that. Hell Stupid Sexy Tana in NJPW even said himself he doesn't want to do that.

It was deffo a more nuanced answer than that and the tone of voice makes it clear he doesn't mean it in an arrogant way. Now whether a busy man like Punk watched it or read it without tone of voice...
I’ll definitely find it later so I can form a bit of a better judgment off of it then.

Surely if he tried someone would have stopped him before he actually made it on screen lol
I mean he could have just grabbed a mic and said :at least I can do a spring board. and walked back

i dont doubt it one day. the cycle is inevitable. though atm they still strike me as pretty aloof. I think the jerichos etc are at that stage atm, but in 10 years, sure ya, I dont doubt some more aew vets that were indie guys will tell young guys they doing shit all wrong. its every generation no matter what lmao

albeit it seems Jericho is one of the exceptions to the rule as from what ol Dave was saying he's more one of those "well if it got them over, maybe I should see what they are doing and learn too" which tbf I buy because the proof is in the pudding. dude has reinvented himself 1000x and is perpetually over.

Something to be said about breaking the cycle and being better than the past imo

Things is, if you go too far why even go to AEW? May as well just be in WWE without the creative freedom. AEW is meant to be an alternative and embrace wrestling history including their WWE runs. I much prefer them not pretending WWE doesn't exist and them not treating the audience like they don't know wrestling. Obviously there is a balance and maybe some people should lost that right if they cross the line like Punk did (I still don't see anything Page said as that bad, same with Sammy G as well) but going too far the other way means it's the same product just on a different channel.
Yeah I don’t think they should go super tight control or anything, just tighter than they are. Like it’s clear the current MO is you can pretty much say whatever the fuck you want lol and it’s causing issues

hangman’s original line with the workers rights was just as out of order as Punk’s imo. Was completely out of context and storyline and made no sense. It’s also low-key assassinating the character of a top Babyface and biggest draw, which is probably why Punk feels he almost sabotaged a million dollar gate. Realistically they were both wrong for doing what they did, but I don’t think you can say Punk was more wrong at all. They both tried to make each other look stupid and it was both as unprofessional as each other.

absolutely, when a lot of ppl online were trashing him too. Ive said this in prior threads, Jericho legitimized OC to the more casual viewer and I thought that was huge of him. His fault isnt that he doesnt put over people (changing subjects slighlt) its that a lot of his recent feuds drags so people including myself were down on him for a bit. But dude is good shit, you know he's gonna lay down for Garcia too

Regal is kind of similiar in that he will give advice but even he has said if it works it works. I feel assuming all vets are grumpy bastards about advice is a mistake.

One of the reason he’s my all time favorite. Like when it comes to wrestling, he’s always on top of things, changes himself up. Plus reading his books also helped lol

let's be honest. Regal just wants to flirt with Excalibur and he's happy as a little kitten in a meadow

I mean the only way the gate was in danger is if Punk took his ball and went home so not really imo. I saw that line as selling the feud and the ongoing story of top AEW stars not trusting Punk e.g. MJF and Eddie. Didn't feel out of ordinary to me at all. Punk though said a random line which wasn't leading to a match to make Page look like shit. If Punk had a problem with the line he should have spoke to Page backstage like an adult about it instead of retaliating when he is no longer working with him. If he did it during the feud it would be less bad.

@Poyser to comment on one of your points

I don't think what Punk did was worse as far as action when he called hangman out (though it was much less obvious and veiled, the casual audience had no idea what hangman was referring to, but thats irrelevant to this ) is that if the order of things are to believed : Punk complained to management quite directly. Hangman was talked to and seemingly everyone had moved on. He waited until after he came back from his injury just to feel better to do it to (also losing moral highground in the process, which was dumb) and looked like a heel - which was his whole perceived reason you yourself brought up was the reason he was mad - not looking like the top babyface. So while the action was not worse for me, the intent , at least to me, feels far more nefarious, planned and vindictive. If that was that, hey wtv, u got ur shot in. But then to take another 2nd drive by because that still wasn't enough too, and ALLEGEDLY told a few media people to tune in a few days prior at the conference ...then that's premeditated too? that just shows so much lack of respect for Tony Khan and the company over what really? So that's why I'm much more heated on punk personally about that, especially that Hangman has kept his nose clean, didnt comment didnt retaliate nothing after Punk did it back to him. I don't see how Punk comes off looking good at all in this situation, especially as the veteran who should be leading by example
