Not sure how many of you have seen this release or if there was a thread lost at all, but have at it! Got mine on order!

Why's that link in British .lbs? Is this a US release?

If so I'm marking out! I'd love to own all the Nightmares on Blu-ray.

I think this is the PAL release. Good thing Blu Ray players are import friendly.

It's a British release but region free save for the extra features dvd, which is region 2... But almost all the features on it have been seen before.

I most likely won't buy this. I know I've said it before, but Blu Ray is not always the best way to go, particularly with 80's slasher films.

I know you like your vhs, man! Haha... But I liked the way the original looked on Blu so I'm checking this out. Even if I'll only watch 3, 4 and New Nightmare out of this set.

What's wrong with Blu Ray for 80s slashers?

I feel it makes the movies look too clean for my liking. As I grew up watching them in the dirty pan and scan format of VHS, that's the way I remember them and they "feel" right in that format. I'm not taking anything away from Blu Ray because I own a bunch of those films in that format as well, but more often than not I find myself pulling out the old VHS copies to watch instead.

I used to like watching my slashers on VHS but I found most the tapes wearing old. Plus you really can't get that same audio experience with VHS. If I'm being honest, my last VCR died eating a rare wrestling tape and I haven't bothered to hunt down another one.

If there's one big advantage VHS has over DVD and Blu Rays when it comes to 80s slashers: The box arts are freakin awesome, unlike the cheesy and poorly ones on DVD and BD.

I am not triple dipping. I own them on VHS and the DVD box set. That is enough for me. Besides, I didn't care for the original on Blu Ray.

I already own all of these on DVD with the exception ofthe crappy remake... Blah! Anyway, I may eventually switch over to blue ray and if I do I will be sure to pick these up.

I hear not wanting to triple dip ... Trust me I do. I never want to but the completist in me makes me. Besides, I got the dvd set for cheap so this won't hurt my wallet too much.

I gotta agree with Brandon on this one... I still bust out the Halloween vhs now and again, but I love the awesome audio on bd.

I think the compressed audio is part of the nostalgia factor, along with tracking errors and lines on the screen. There's just something about watching those films in that way that reminds me of how much fun I use to have watching them as a kid. There's really no right or wrong answer to this question mind you, just variations on the same theme.

Definitely. What you're used to plays a big factor. I grew up in the vhs age, but didn't get big into slashers until deep into the dvd era.
