I still think it's important for the WWE to have a gay wrestler/character at some point. As a society we're so concerned about being politically correct or not mentioning controversial topics to avoid offending someone and therefore we're perpetuating homophobia and heterosexism. The WWE has been bold in some other areas, pushing the envelope on what they can and cannot talk about (I think they're doing that right now with the Swagger story line dealing with illegal immigration) so I don't see anything wrong with exploring this too.

To be fair, I can see how it wouldn't work. The States (a huge chunk of WWE viewership) are still mostly Blue, and wouldn't approve of a gay wrestler. Wouldn't be surprised if they boycotted the show or something along those lines. Also, Homosexuals might feel like they're being mocked, especially if WWE makes the character stereotypical as fuck (which you know they would).

You call this a stereotype? :pity2:

I think they had something like that with Billy and Chuck right? I don't remember that tag match, but I remember that they tried to do a gay marriage angle. This was back when Stephanie was the GM of Smackdown.

Also the last wrestler to come out was Kanyon I think, not sure, but they ended up killing themselves because they were blackballed.

Anyway to the subject. I don't think that angle would ever happen. I just have a hard time seeing that happening. I'm not opposed to it, but it becomes a point of "you're gay, now what". I don't see it going anywhere. I see it more as shock value.
