Obama passed health care which we didn't need since we already have some of the best hospitals and health care in the world in America. Not to mention he's taken money away from other government run programs like Social Security and Medicare to fund that health care law. You're assessment of the recession (not depression) is just plain wrong. Although his policies have helped, minimally at best, they've also sent us deeper into debt. The economy would have fixed itself without much intervention and the fact is that by 6 months after Obama had taken office, the worst was over and GDP slowly started increasing again. Unfortunately, it's been a jobless recovery and the economy is still moving at a snail's pace and even saw a decrease in GDP is 2010. So what did Obama really do? Unemployment is still at 8.5%, which is well above full employment and we're spending money we don't have. The debt has increased under him as much as it did under Bush and there's no end to the spending in site. I'll admit he helped oust Ghadafi and took out Bin Laden which was huge although I wouldn't say al-Qaeda was crippled by that. We need a new president who will hopefully stop the bleeding and although the options really are bad and worse this year, Romney is bad and Obama is worse.
I'm not trying to be racist in saying race won Obama the election but there are two things that are true: one, the last election was close. In fact, it was very close. Two, we saw some of the highest, if not the highest turn out from black voters ever and I highly doubt any of them voted for McCain. So why did they turn out to vote? Maybe some turned out and decided to vote Obama because they really did like his views but I highly doubt any less than 90% of black voters, who very well could have been the deciding factor in the last election, voted for Obama for any other reason than that he's black. Race absolutely had something to do with it and if you think all those blacks did their research, then you're blind.
Ron Paul was really my favorite, but he's too liberal for conservatives and too conservative for liberals and don't even get my started on how ridiculous doing away with the fed and bringing back the gold standard is although the fed really needs to be controlled at this point with all the money they're printing. US politics are a complete joke right now. No one is accomplishing anything because no one can agree on anything and everyone just tells us what we want to hear. Honestly, I often wonder who is running the country since everyone is campaigning before they take office and then start campaigning for re-election as soon as they take office. We need someone who is for the people, but I don't know when we'll see another politician like that. As far as I know, Reagan was the last good president and Eisenhower was the last great president. I love my country but I'm sad for it knowing that we'll probably never see the likes of presidents like Roosevelt, Truman or Eisenhower in the White House again.
