The last time both Randy Orton and John Cena held the world titles.

If someone said to me after they dropped the titles that fast forward 8 months and still counting, just one of them, let alone both wouldn't have held the title again I would have told them that they were lunatics.

It was just something I was thinking since the PPV and thought i'd look it up and see the actual time frame. Cena doesn't exactly need the title because he's getting top feud after top feud anyway, but I feel as though it should be time for a Randy title reign as his stuff since going to SmackDown has been top quality stuff. With that being said Sheamus' run is just starting and even though Punk's run feels as if it's coming towards the end, you'd imagine that two heels are going to take the belts.

Factor those few things in and by the time they get the belts back, you'll probably be looking at a years time since they last held them. Incredible really.

Major props for finding this stat out Dale. That is great to hear and I'm happy about his although I think Orton should get the title back. Punk gets amazing reactions and can go toe to toe with Cena. Sheamus got blown away by Orton in terms of face pop last night. I respect Sheamus a lot and I think he's going to be one of the best big men ever in terms of wrestling ability but I'm getting bored with his overall character.

John Cena is this era's Hulk Hogan. Hogan went a long time without holding the title and now Cena is doing that as well. Both got into some great fueds without the WWE title. Hogan with Sid, Flair, Ted Dibiase. Cena with Big Show, The Rock, Brock Lesnar.

This is something I've thought about for a while and never actually attempted to find out, so props to you for coming up with the goods.

I love this. It has been quite some time since either of them has been champion, and although I wouldn't mind Orton becoming champion soon, I still don't want Cena near the title. It seems as if the WWE are completely aware of many fans sharing the same views and are constantly throwing him in new feuds to ensure he's nowhere near it, and I'm happy for that to continue.

Never would've imagined this happening, but glad it has.

I could see orton with it again in the near future. I've said before Cena has been placed on this pedestal as of late as if he's above belts now.

John Cena has naturally elevated far beyond the WWE title going on to the point where the title is basically second fiddle. It hasn't been unenjoyable, but you have to wonder where it goes from here? Without taking time off, the transition back down to the title scene will be akward.

Randy Orton, unfortunately, is stuck on a drowning ship and enjoyed a lengthy run as captain but added little. I think it was Legion who said that Randy is still over and the fans want to see him, but it seems like WWE doesn't. Without a gimmick change, Randy has nothing fresh to do. Same goes for Cena in fact. We have no reason to see them become champions again because we've seen the same thing from them over, what, 10 title reigns each?

That's why the likes of Punk and Bryan have naturally replaced Cena and Orton as the top hero and antagonist going right now it would seem. Cena and Orton aren't lacking in their performance at all, but they are doing nothing new to stay relevant that its become annoying.

I don't think he transitions back for along while. WWE needs to be careful of how they treat him in the future or it'll be more important to pin cena than to win the title.

They've actually been putting a ton of guys over in that time away from the belt too.

Orton moreso than Cena, but yeah, it's done them the world of good.

Anyone saying Randy is stale now needs to go back and watch his last run as a heel champ in Legacy.

He had awesome character development during that time period so not sure what you are getting at there.

Anyways I'm shocked Orton has been away from the title as long as he has more than I' am with Cena since Orton is on Smackdown where it would be very easy to keep him in your main event. Where Cena he as said is at the point Hulk Hogan got in during the 90's in WWF and that is where he doesn't need the belt anymore and can still be in the main feud regardless. Not to mention the current champion is someone who is very over and would be the biggest face if Cena wasn't on Raw. Orton is in this weird spot it seems where you have him and you ask yourself what can we do with him since you have to use him just kind of don't know what for half the time.

I'd be extremely happy to see Orton as champion again. But I'd really like for him to go heel, that's where he's at his best in my opinion, maybe go back to punting people?

Nice find Dale. I never thought that it had been this long since either of them held one of the top belts and it has been a refreshing change. Those two are above the belts right now and it is better business for WWE to use those belts to put over some others to try to build up a strong mainevent. Cena has mainly been working outside the title scene so he hasn't had the chance to put over many guys since he has been doing more important jobs. Orton has done a fantastic job of putting over the maineventers on Smackdown and he has had top quality matches at the same time. I wouldn't put the title on them in the near future, this is a great time to push new champions since it is the post WM depression that WWE always has. When WWE switches on again later in the year for SummerSlam I can see one of them getting a title back, probably Orton.
