ProWrestling.net is reporting that WWE Smackdown star Rey Mysterio is currently working through a rotator cuff injury. According to the report, the injury occurred during WWE’s recent over seas tour and officials have been limiting Mysterio’s ring time to allow him to heal as best he can. WWE officials and Mysterio remain hopeful that Rey will avoid surgery and work through the injury heading into WrestleMania.

Mysterio handpicked Cody Rhodes to work their current feud and current plans calls for them having a match at WrestleMania 27.

I'm not bothered about Rey's injury stuff as it always happens but the bottom bit interests me. I am glad Rey has chosen Cody Rhodes as after doing a great job putting Del Rio I feel he can do the same for Cody. These two could produce a match of epic proportions at mania too.

Can't believe that Rey is injured again he seems to always be carrying an injury.

Great news for Cody if this is true. Would be his biggest singles feud to date and if he can get on the Wrestlemania card that will be immense for him. Cody needs a feud against someone important like that to become more than a midcarder. Rey always does a good job of putting people over and hopefully he can do the same for Rhodes.

Surely you can't be serious?

Rey without an injury is like ham without the burger my friend, he always seems to be injured around this time. Could it be the fact that his frame can't support the added weight and muscle that he packed on since WCW? Could it be the fact that highflyers are not going to be around as long as Flair and Hogan?

Just gotta keep the fingers crossed and hope Mysterio will be ready for Mania, since his outfits are usually sweet.

I don't remember him putting ADR over in fact quite the oppoistie. Anyway I think if this match does happen at Mania it will be a big boost to Cody's career. Also with Rhodes being a bit on the short and skinny side, there won't be much adjustment needed.

Good news for Rhodes. He needs a big feud and Mysterio can be that guy. They are already teasing it so that is good. Rhodes needs to go over though at some point.

I'm loving this matchup if it happens.

Personally, I like Cody's gimmick and would like to see him in a feud which furthers him. A programme with Mysterio heading into Wrestlemania would do exactly that.

If the roster wasn't so stacked with cocky heels who always defied the odds to scrape a win, he'd be a good candidate to move towards the main event over the coming months. Del Rio already seems to have that spot booked though.

Whether it puts Cody over or not comes into question with quite a few people I have spoken too. But the fact is due to Rey's popularity if you keep beating him down as well as out shining with your promo work it's eventually going to lead to a great over heel. Now I think if these two do face off at Mania it will be one hell of a match, their styles look like they will flow to me.

See at first this was HUGE because I love Cody and wrestling such a star as Mysterio over an extended program will only boost his stock. In my opinion, he is only behind Alberto Del Rio and Wade Barrett in 'getting his shot' terms on Smackdown so hopefully this elevates him closer to that point.

However, two things bug me. One, if Mysterio aggravates his damn injury and needs time off...then what? Sure Rhodes can look a bit impressive by taking him out (although taking out Rey is hardly going to make him look beast) but in reality it'll cut the program down and leave Rhodes with nothing to do on TV.

My other reservation is Mysterio's likelihood to put him over. I don't care what anyone says about dirtsheets or rumours but when they surface with reports of a moody, demanding Mysterio more often than we get reports on Orton being a jerk then surely there is an element of truth to the matter? If Rey isn't made to be the big star reports of wanting more money or a run with a title tend to surface. I'll leave that notion with you.
