Should The IC & US Title Be Unified?

I think when bringing up how only having one midcard title worked before you have to keep in mind that the rosters back then is like damn near half of what it is now in terms of size. That said I wouldn't mind it happening for the fact that they are making more use of the tag division so some of the guys who would just be floating around can now just tag.
Cut dead weight. Simple and plain, cut dead weight or use the jobbers full time on NXT with the nts weekly wrestlers for a network broadcast and small company feel like the original ecw.

There should be a tag division. There should be a wwe title division with the top 6 guys. Other guys should outright be fired or transferred down to NXT if they aren't good enough to compete in the midcard. I mean a Cody, Big E, Reigns, Ambrose, Sin Cara, Rollins, Del rio, Dolph, and Sandow are going to be fine for the IC division. Fuck a Ryder and his ilk to be blunt

Multiple title have never helped any single performer. TV titles didn't help any new guy in wcw, cruiser weight was a derogatory term. The Euro, Hardcore and LHW title never helped anyone during the WWEs apex on popularity that's when titles jus became props. Look at the HW champs of boxing, there deals like a million of them, the UFC is diluting their titles as well.

Guys like Ryder aren't even in the midcard anyways cause they can't get on T.V so they would be dead weight regardless.

That's why I don't see the need for two midcard titles that are supposedly equal in status. No matter how big the roster its hard to justify the belts both existing unless they plan on going on a hiring spree with the Carlito, Matt Hardy, MVP, Masters, Shelton, and so on of the worlds retuning to fill out a division so that the midcard talent stock is huge

The only time they were justified in having two midcard belts was during the brand extension.

They don't have two midcard belts because of all the people... they have two midcard belts because they think that's the only way to keep certain guys relevant and it doesn't ever work because nobody cares. They see two titles and think, "these aren't special in any way." Going back to the formula where every guy is going after the IC belt in order to get a boost towards a chance at the WWE Championship is the way to make THAT ONE BELT relevant again. Not to mention, it would make Cole/JBL rattling off every major title holder who had one of the midcard belts before becoming a WWE/WHC seem a lot more legit.

When was the last time the US title actually provided anything for a guy? Not since the original tournament to crown the first champ has it ever meant anything. Kill the belt, WCW was along time ago.

US should hit the trash, and they should do it in Atlanta. When was the last time the damned belt was even defended? What happened to the 30 day rules?

Curtain jerkers worked well enough for years without a crap title for them to fight over. Get some of the excess Divas to get involved in opener storylines and the writers barely have to do anything, if the new guys cant get over with a bitch, send them back to NXT or fire them.

2 singles titles, 2 gimmick belts. That is all that is needed, then factor in the Money in the Bank which is treated like a title.

MVP was during real well with it, and so was Matt chasing him. They just hit a shit patch with Mvps heart, Matt getting sick and then hurt, and the program lost steam. That was the last time I thought it was important and central element of the show though, when they were doing the whole I'm better than you think over it

If they cant book feuds for 2 titles or even have the US Title defended they may as well unify them. Better to have one Title thats used well rather than 2 titles that are ignored and do nothing for the guy holding them.

Mike sent word that the last time Dean Ambrose defended his WWE United States Title was against Big E Langston on the October 28th RAW, the night after he defended it at Hell In a Cell.

Read this today. Damn thats so many kinds of lazy.

The US Title never seems to be defended anyway, it just stays around Ambrose's waist atm so yeah scrap that and just keep IC Belt. And if they want another title bring back hardcore championship :D

Am with Skywalker on this one, the key is make the IC Title almost as important as the WWE, and make it a stepping stone for the big one. Did wonders for the likes of Bret Hart, Warrior and even Orton.
