WWF Royal Rumble '89 - Two out of Three Falls: The Hart Foundation & Jim Duggan vs The Fabulous Rougeaus & Dino Bravo

Pretty good opener here, it kept me interested. Bret's and the Rougeau's exchanges were definitely the highlight.

WWF Royal Rumble '89 - Super Posedown: Rick Rude vs Ultimate Warrior

This was horrible and a complete waste of time. Only reason I'm counting it as a match and posting it in this thread is because it lasted almost as long as the first match...

WCW Japan Supershow II 1992: Masahiro Chono v.s Lex Luger(c).

Luger is really not the kind of guy you want as a Champion going into an event like this. It led to shady finish after what could have been a great finishing exchange. The quick nearfalls then Luger having Chono in the Torture Rack only for the two to tumble outside the ring. Well it was a safe landing with Chono watching himself Luger as he went out first. Then after some brawling Luger applies the hold again. He has in for like 10-15 seconds as the referee is screaming in his face about counting them out. After Chono gets back in the ring he tries to quickly hit Luger with a Saito suplex only to get low blowed. The referee doesn't even DQ him either. This is followed up a middle rope front elbow drop and Luger getting a quick cover. I still enjoyed this this match overall. There were some really sloppy and horrible exchanges early on. One where they ran into each other and it just came off like neither man knew what the other was doing. Besides that it was pretty decent stuff. If this match happened in the United States I'd give it ***.

WWF Royal Rumble '89 - WWF Women's Championship: Judy Martin vs Rockin' Robin

Horrible match, but I guess when you compare it to the other WWF female matches from the 80s it wasn't so bad. Sherri Martel on commentary during this one is cringe-worthy.

WCW Worldwide 3/20/1993: Randy Sledge & Mike Moon v.s 2 Cold Scorpio & Buff Bagwell.

Just a little extended squash to show off the athleticism of Scorpio and Bagwell. They were pretty impressive but even with their opponents being bigger than them didn't do anything. Just took everything no matter how weak some of things Scorpio did looked. Still had more action than I expected.

WCW Worldwide 3/20/93: Bo Thorn? v.s British Bulldog.

I don't think we were truely told who Bulldog was facing. The two jobbers in the last match got their names on TV but I just had to work off what I thought Schiavone and Ventura were saying. So it was just a squash anyways. Not much.

WCW Worldwide 3/20/1993: Joey Maggs v.s Maxx Payne.

Payne isn't very good but he's tough and rugged... For some reason that was enough for him to be involved in some great brawls tagging with Mick Foley. That doesn't translate to controlling squash matches. He has his Painkiller submission which he did some awful set up arm work for. It was useless because Maggs tapped out as soon as the hold was applied. I also think Maggs was the better worker so yeah seeing him just take this beating was just lame.

WWF Royal Rumble '89 - King Haku vs Harley Race

Decent enough match, slow though. Haku hit a pretty sick Savate to end it.

WCW Worldwide 3/20/1993: TV Title Tournament Match: Robbie V v.s Vinnie Vegas.

Essentially this is RVD v.s Kevin Nash in 1993. Well both sucked at this time and Vegas sure wasn't ready to control this. Maybe if Vegas had someone with a different style he could, though. Mostly this was just Robbie V hitting kicks that didn't knock Vegas over and then Vegas would hit a big move. Not much to this at all and Vegas' Snake Eyes at the end kind of sucked. It looked devastating the way he hit but it was just sloppy as hell. Interesting match reflecting back but that doesn't mean it's any good.

WWF Royal Rumble '89 - The 1989 Royal Rumble

Meh, definitely one of my least favorite Rumbles. It got interesting around entrants 15-25, but before and after that it was so boring. It was still fun to see most of these guys, but I expected a little more action than this.

WCW Worldwide 3/20/93: US Title Match: Paul Orndorff v.s Dustin Rhodes(c).

I certainly wanted more out of a match like this. The talent is great in the ring yet we don't get much of a match here. It's solid for what they were doing but when Orndorff takes the fight outside it just ends up staying there. The match ended with a double countout. I liked the action... It's just I would have liked to see it go somewhere.

WCW Worldwide 3/27/1993: Danny Deese v.s Johnny B. Badd.

A nothing match with a terrible looking finish. The only thing I liked was the commentary but that is only because they fucked up. Jesse Ventura refers to something Badd has as Lucille and then Tony Schiavone tries to correct him that Lucille is his fist. Actually Lucille at this time was the name of Maxx Payne's guitar, I'm pretty sure... Thanks Ventura for bringing it up. The match still sucks ass.

WCW Worldwide 3/27/1993: TV Title Tournament: Erik Watts v.s Vinnie Vegas.

Watts dictated the pace here and actually it was the decision that should have been made. His leg work wasn't too bad. That was about the only bright spot of the match because after several minutes of this Vegas had to get control himself because they wanted to sell his angle of eliminating Van Hammer earlier in the tournament. Hammer distracts him after a few offensive moves and Watts wins with a roll up. This was the end of one side of the bracket, too. So the TV Title match is going to have Erik Watts. What the fuck? I don't want to go into this more, I just know at least Watts was never TV Champion.

WCW Worldwide 3/27/93: Fred Avery v.s Sting.

Now this is a dominating squash. Sting hit about 5 bodyslams, a Stinger Splash and then locked in the Scorpion Deathlock. That was the entire match. It was quick and effective. I didn't mind this.
