-both movies feature a person that on any normal day would be considered just the average person.
-Both movies feature people who are simply attempting to survive the ordeal while simultaneously saving the day.
-The protagonist in each movie finds themselves distant for their families, howbeit for entirely different reasons.
-The place where they find themselves is invaded by criminals looking to play the role of the Grinch who stole Christmas
-Cut off from all immediate assistance
-Both characters have the option of sitting still and hiding until reinforcements come but they both decide to take a stand and make a difference.
-the leader of both criminal groups initially attempted to pose as a good guy to gain an initial advantage.
-the final blow is not delivered by the protagonist
-the same thing happens in a sequel two years later, except on the East Coast, beginning with the hero separated from his family at an airport.

If Die Hard isn't a Christmas movie....then why is Home Alone?

Christmas movies are released around Christmas time: Die Hard was released on July 14, 1988.

Christmas needs to be part of the front of the story, not a background prop like in Die Hard. They could have easily picked any other theme for the party that happened, they chose Christmas because it was a universal holiday most people celebrate.

The only reason people believe it is a Christmas movie is because they made it part of their Christmas celebration tradition.

If I started using Christmas decorations on the 4th of July, it doesn't make them 4th of July decorations. It just makes them part of my 4th of July celebration.

What I am saying is the movie can be a Christmas tradition but it will never be a Christmas movie.

I've never even seen Die Hard, ngl. Doesn't seen like my cup of tea, especially considering that it's a fake Christmas movie.

I always thought it was even before it became a "thing" honestly
I am fine with it being a tradition for people. Everyone has their own holiday traditions but the movie came out in July. The whole Die Hard is a Christmas film started like not even 10 years ago. I think people just like to argue about it. I just have to make sure I win this one because it is Reag I am arguing with.

I never watched it either. I just know the plot. :dawg:

Ironically enough, I watched Die Hard 4 (Live Free or Die Hard) and not the first 3 LOL
