Um, the lack of stuff in TNA was only one generic story line (just like SvR08 which sucked as well) but the difference was in 08 you could make choices that affected the story. In Impact you can't. In 09 your getting 7 different unique stories that again that can change based on the choices you make. So to void your arguement it is you winning, because the choice you make may not be the choice Batista would have made in that same situation. It gives you control to be the creative behind the scenes something TNA does not give you.

The other lack of stuff is the lack of different match styles in TNA. Last I checked there is no shortage of match types in the WWE games. Lots of variety.

Next was the Create a Wrestler mode....again TNA barely could do shit. 10 generic choices for entrances and you couldn't preview them. Never been a problem in WWE games.

The reason people aren't complaining about certain things being left out of the WWE game like they did on TNA is because even cramming the disc full in a WWE game and we get crap loads of options 7 story modes, choices in said story modes that affect the outcome, tons of options when creating a wrestler, the ability to preview before deciding on those options, create a finisher mode, create a belt mode, more then 24 wrestlers for regular game play mode, and more then just singles, triple threats, tag teams and 1 specialty match type to chose from including the abilty to customize those rules for those matches, and finally full entrances with titan tron videos, music and much more fan fare. TNA gave us none of that and had shit loads of space still on the disc.
I would type an original response but what post I already made a good while has something to do with what This Guy said. The following is my quoted post from the "Official TNA iMPACT Video Game Thread".

Guys, this is TNA's and Midway's first wrestling game. Why is EVERYBODY bashing it? Seriously. As of now, the WWE Smackdown vs RAW series isn't doing so themselves. Dated game engine, f-ed up controls, lame 24/7 mode, unbalanced gameplay (which leads to cheating on online matches), flawed and limited character creation, little to no real innovation to the series as a whole, bad AI in one title after another, and stupid commentary runs rampant like the plague. I'm just glad that I have another wrestling game, TNA iMPACT!, because its NOT another WWE video game.

First thing you can't expect TNA and Midway to everything that every other wrestling game is doing, and second, you can't expect them to get it right on the first try. In this case due to a lack wrestling game making experience for both sides, its better for them to do the things that they can and succeed to some degree instead of trying to do everything and fail miserably.
(I forgot to add that people online repeatedly spam things like the Fists of Fury and Rampage powers.)

The main reason why I think people are bashing the game is because people expected too much from it. The Smackdown vs RAW series isn't responsible for setting guidelines to which all wrestling games are supposed to be made so there shouldn't be any reason as to why people are saying that '08 has or '09 will have "these sets of feature" when. Its possible that Midway and TNA can make a better wrestling WITHOUT doing everything that the SD series is doing and take care of their own business.

Besides, the SD vs RAW games are now overrated and they're delivering the same shit over and over. They aren't the things that they used to do in term truly moving the series and the genre forward. With every new feature they introduce into their latest game its either flawed in some way or the series longest running issues cancels out the features (like unbalanced gameplay, dated game engine.....the others I just mentioned). The infero match looks like something that was just thrown together in mere seconds and doesn't seem to do a good job in capturing the excitement of a real infreno match. The video ending after the match ends look lame: throw a guy through the ropes headfirst OVER the fire on the apron and all of a sudden the guys ass is fire. I know its all a game but still.

The tag team system I'm not competely sold sold on. Things like the hot tag and team momentum are hopefully balanced out evenly and doesn't fall into being spammed over and over. The game's story mode looks okay but I'd rather be able to play as any superstar I want in a season-type mode like in SD!:HCTP. The Create-A-Finisher will really be the only good selling point of the game and possibly the only feature NOT flawed.

I don't know who everyone else feels but I can't get behind SD vs RAW '09 seeing as how much of a dissappointment '08 was. That why I think why the series is overrated.

From Gaming Ring:

All of the latest information from the latest build of THQ’s and Yukes upcoming WWE Smackdown vs Raw 2009.

For 1 week solid I have played WWE Smackdown vs Raw 2009. I had a chance to kick the tires and try out a very early build of the game. The game featured these following WWE Superstars. Rey Mysterio, Randy Orton, Batista, John Cena, The Miz, John Morrison, Jeff Hardy, Matt Hardy, CM Punk, HHH, HBK, Undertaker, Beth Phoenix and Kelly Kelly, Chris Jericho and Kennedy. The build we recieved feature pretty much all of the standard match types that you have come to know and love from the series and also features the Inferno match as well as the backstage brawls. On the create side, we have create a finisher which I will discuss a little bit more later. I also have the create a move-set and create a superstar options in the build I have. I didnt spend much time with the create a superstar option but from what I did it seems that it hasnt undergone a significant overhaul and those of you who are comfortable with last years CAS should feel right at home here.

WWE Smackdown vs Raw 2009 has a huge laundry list of improvements so let me run a few of them down for you. First off, the loading time has significantly been decreased and the matches load up very quickly. While I didnt take a stopwatch and time them, I can see it is a noticable differeance. Also improved is the commentary this year. Previously the commentary was mostly random ramblings almost put together in mad-lib fasion. This year, the commentary teams actually call moves and call the match as you play it. While its not perfect, there is still plenty of time for the team behind the game to tweek it and improve it even more. Also improved is the character models, I hate to through this cliche out there but in this case there is several times specifically in the entrances where the graphics are so good that you actually forget your playing a video game and not watching WWE programing on TV. Visually this game is stunning, the arenas, the pyros and even the crowds all swim with little details and nice touches that while not immediately obvious only take center stage once your attention you happen to focus on them. Also improved is the new camera angles around ringside. The new camera angles really bring you into the action and showcase the new character models even more. Very nicely done. The game also features all of the PPV and TV Show arenas that fans have come to expect from the series year in and year out.

The tag team matches have really never been done this well in a wrestling game. Who would have thought that by combing both your partner and your meters that this would open entire new avenues of strategy and depth to tag matches. I played a 6 man tag team match and all 3 people do share the same meter as well.

The create a finisher really is going to be a huge feature and a great addition to this years game. I cannot overstate exactly how much fun and how much time I and many others will be spending in this mode. Quickly and with very little effort I made several moves from wrestlers in other promotions from around the world. The interface is very intuitive, with each move animated before you set the move in your finishing move que. Also cool is the ability to either speed up or speed down each move in the sequence. At this point in development, the mode feels pretty good. I was able to make several finishing holds from other wrestling federations superstars.

Even though, we do not have a full build there are several improvements that allows me to say that this may be the year that everyone including myself can say that this is the definitive WWE video game experience. With huge secrets, and surprises that promise to be “the tip of the mole hillâ€￾ WWE Smackdown vs Raw 2009 is promising to be the best WWE video game experience in a long long time. Join Gamingring.com in the weeks and months to come to find out exactly how deep this mole hill goes.
Still no news on improving the AI huh?

Rey should be higher. Like a 89 or 90. Lowering his overall will just make him easier. Plus it's unrealistic because Rey would beat Finlay who is an 87.

They also had custom soundtracks back on the original X-Box as well. I ripped some of the WWE the Music CD's to the harddrive and gave my created guys who weren't in the game there actual theme music. Now all they need is custom video trons where you can add any video you want for there titan tron video.

I had to sell my first 360 and just got a new one. And only bought Smackdown Vs. Raw 08 like a month ago. So one question how the hell do I do it. I never knew I could.

put the music on ur 360 into one song playlists, then when creating your entrance go to entrance music and on the first page of the list there is one that reads User playlist click it and pick one of the one song playlist you made.

Why give them custom music when you can give them the 'ballet music' they have in every game lol. But having Custom music is awesome, this will make my CAWs even better! The game is coming along GREAT, I will buy it without a doubt!
