Re: NBA Regular Season Discussion Thread

Also, I found this on PSD, and I wanted to share it because Ron Artest is truly a moron

Lakers forward Ron Artest spent both Friday and Saturday trying to get into James' head, first with pregame words then with a second-quarter chokehold. In Artest's world, he succeeded, even as James went for 27 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists Saturday.

"I thought he had an average night," Artest said. "Nothing spectacular. It was a great night for others."

James' triple-double was the first in a Christmas Day game in 40 years. It was the seventh overall on the holiday, with four coming from Oscar Robertson and one apiece from John Havlicek and Billy Cunningham

I never knew a triple-double was average

He was complimenting him. I don't know why you'd have a problem with it.

Only team he ever cared about was Jersey because Jay-Z/Thorn treated him like a king even when they were losing according to reports.

Oh yeah, Carter's way more of an asshole than a pussy. I don't know why he isn't more hated. He's the definition of "I play when I want to play."

A triple-double is not average, not on anybody's standards.

Ron knows LeBron can do more damage, which isn't a slight at all.

I know that he had trouble with LeBron last year as well. I felt Barnes did a better job against him, and I know that Kobe did two years ago.

It is actually weird because of the fact that he can get into Melo, Pierce, Manu, Durant, and even Wade a little bit yet struggles with LeBron like he did with Kobe.

He was saying that for LeBron it was pretty close to average. It was a huge compliment. You can find a million Artest quotes to use to call him a moron.

Just because they got triple-doubles doesn't mean it makes them average.

And to Sal, i guess you are right, now that i reread over it. But still Artest is absolute moron, and really declined since he joined LA.

Re: NBA Regular Season Discussion Thread

I wouldn't even say that he really declined as much as he is lost in the offense.

The fact is he just came off a playoff stretched where he locked the leading scorer in the league down one on one without a double team, locked Pierce down in the finals, and locked Joe Johnson, Danny Granger, Caron Butler and Manu Ginobili down during last season. He also went into a game 3 in Utah and went off, went off in the close out versus Phoenix after Pau no showed, and in a game 7 was the best player on the court after Kobe shot horribly. When the offense broke down in those games and he was told just iso and post up, he got his like he always did in Indy, Sac, and H-town.

He just isn't used to being in or understand an offense like the triangle where there are no set play calls or cuts, but just a whole bunch of reads and reacts that are predicated on spacing and off the ball movement. He isn't the first guy it happened to as Payton was more lost than he ever was when it came to running the offense straight after being the 2nd best PG in the league behind Kidd, the season before joining the Lakers.

He just has no offensive game, and his defense hasn't been as good this year either. He has a decent 3 point shot, but has been off for most of the year. Like i told you on PSD, I feel the Lakers run could be over soon. i think this is their last great shot at winning it all with Kobe at the reigns. However, I feel Dwight could be coming their in 12, so that could always change all of it but that is a while away. The Lakers age is showing big time, and the pieces they added haven't been that good for them at all.

Re: NBA Regular Season Discussion Thread

They have the same record as Miami with Kobe coming off knee surgery, their starting center miss a fourth of the year, and integrating in two new pieces.

When you have played 67 more games than anyone else in the past 2 years, you tend to look disinterested and even old at times.

Miami also has won 14 of their past 15 after starting 9-8 and that was mainly due to chemistry issues. They don't look disinterested they just don't look as good.

Re: NBA Regular Season Discussion Thread

LA is 7-3 in their last 10 and have only lost 2 games all year with a backup center in Ratliff or Bynum on their roster.

The guys have played small all year with Kobe, Ron, and Barnes playing PF and LO playing backup C. For a team with no reserve C and having to play small ball for so long, they aren't horrible. They aren't blowing teams away but they are still leading their division, have one of the best records out west, and are more proven than any team in the league including Boston and San Antonio when it comes to winning.

Their division blows. The second best team is under .500 in Phoenix.
