To be perfectly honest, I have a bias against gay guys. In theory, at least. In reality I’m accepting of everyone, but as a lesbian I find it difficult not to be jealous of all the attention gay men get. Male homosexuality is favored in virtually every discussion on the subject while female homosexuality is routinely dismissed and ridiculed. This thread is an example. Worst of all, people seem to think that lesbians have advantages when it comes to the perception of society, but if you’ve ever lived as a lesbian and put up with the dirty looks people give you and the things people say, you’d know that’s complete bullshit. Lesbians endure all the same things as gay guys, only we don’t get acknowledged or supported half as much. We’re a minority within a minority. It becomes demoralizing after a while.
Anyway, those are just my own personal views. In reality I have plenty of gay friends, male and female, bi, trans, and I’m equally supportive of all. I've never been in a parade (fuck that shit, lol) but I've done volunteer work on hotlines and things.
