So in the X-Men 97' series, near the end of S1E2, we see that Magneto is able to touch Rogue with skin to skin contact. For many people who scene that, they're probably wondering; how is it possible that Magneto can touch her without being harmed whatsoever? Well, I think I may have an explanation that is not entirely out of this world, and actually makes sense on some sort of scientific level.
In the beginning of S1E2, we see Magneto saving fellow mutants from FOH members. During his entrance he says menacingly "Electricity and magnetism are intimately acquainted"; which actually makes sense.
The electromagnetic force is one of the four fundamental forces of nature. It is the dominant force in the interactions of atoms and molecules. What is any matter made up of, considering it is based off of our reality? Well, I'm glad you asked! We are made up of atoms and molecules. It's more complicated than that, but I think you understand what I'm saying. All you need to know is that magnetic fields and electric currents are related on some level.
Now, when it comes to the human body, we create our own sort of electricity. We use it to send signals throughout the body and brain via our nervous system. We are also, great conductors, no pun intended. On top of that, I am going to add a quote from an article that I will reference.
" The contents of the cell are protected from the outside environment by a cell membrane. This cell membrane is made up of lipids that create a barrier that only certain substances can cross to reach the cell interior. Not only does the cell membrane function as a barrier to molecules, it also acts as a way for the cell to generate electrical currents. " This is from an article from The University of Maryland.
Based on these facts, I have concluded that; Magneto has gotten to a level of power so immense, so as to be almost incomprehensible. This guy, has learned how to manipulate the electromagnetic fields on a cellular level, so great, that he can basically control and repel Rogue's mutant cellular powers. He is basically the only person that she can touch. Having said that, theoretically, he should be able to block any mutants powers on some certain level. Although, he may not have gotten that far.
