POWELL, Wyo. (AP) -- A 19-year-old college student accused of swiping a doughnut in Wyoming is going to be paying a pretty penny for that pastry.

The Northwest Trail reports (http://bit.ly/xBo6cS ) that Zach O'Dell has agreed to pay a $200 fine, $10 in court costs - and 79 cents to cover the cost of the doughnut.

O'Dell was accused of eating the treat in Blair's Market in Powell on Nov. 28 and leaving without paying for it. He was charged with shoplifting.

Attorney Sandra Kitchen says she has deferred the prosecution, and the charge will be dismissed in six months if O'Dell stays out of trouble.

The Trail reports that O'Dell declined to comment.

The Northwest College student has been studying criminal justice.

What an idiot. Studying criminal justice no less! This has to be one of the lulzier stories of the day.

Man, I really can’t believe it when people do things like this. I mean, why steal a $.79 donut when it is just going to get you into more trouble than it is worth. I mean, doesn’t he know Cops stay close to donut shops? What was he thinking!?

On a real note, when if I would have been there I would have just bought the guy the damn donut if he was really that damn hungry.

He has to pay for the doughnut plus $210... wow. Should've just payed for the doughnut dude. I get it though, I guess he had no change and no man can resist the call of a doughnut!

don't forget the 79 cents  so he ends up having to pay for the doughnut and then $210. Think how many doughnuts he could have gotten with 210 dollars

I sure hope the donut had sprinkles on it! If not, then that was a total waste!
