the thing with the names is, if it fits with the gimmick, it could work. Something Hunter Hearst Helmsley sounds like a rich bastard, which HHH was at the time. As for the ECW names, I think the Evan Bourne one is the only one that fits. Like Chuck said before, it's a tribute/play on Jason Bourne, where the guy is like a badass, a good guy, whose movie had action. Evan Bourne is a highflier and exciting, which kinda fits. There's already 2 other Matt's in the WWE, so Creative gave us Evan Bourne.

But Braden Walker and Ricky Ortiz are pretty bad names. I really can't say anything else or explain it, because the reasoning behind Braden Walker is they probably picked it out of a hat.

Wrong. Triple H was a seven-time world champion before he married Stephanie.

Before he MARRIED. MARRIED doesn't mean that they don't date, you don't just meet someone and marry or fuck them. This isn't Cine-Max. They've been bangin' since 2000.

Okay. So he was a three-time World Champion before they began dating. Still not too shabby, imo. Plus, if we're going on the mindset that Vince has been doing favors, I don't think that he just decided to throw the strap on Hunter the day he starting dating his daughter.

The facts are WWE wants to make money, if they keep peoples real names they have to pay the wrestlers money for the use of the name(I think i am right their) But if they change the name it means more money for them. Most of the names they come up with are stupid but end up playing some part in the gimmicks most the time(Hunter Hearst Helmsley - Stuck up rich person - Goes bad ass calls himself Triple H but still gets called Hunter in promos)

I wouldn't have minded Chris Harris being changed to Chris Walker or at least some decent first name which isn't Braden. Evan Bourne is a good name. I think the problem with the names are the first name, if they had some name you would hear everyday then most people wouldn't complain about the names.

Only reason why I like the names Evan Bourne, is because people call him "Air Bourne" that's cool.

If they stick with him doing the SSP i wouldn't be suprised if they called it that.

WWEs name changes are dumb and pointless...The guys have already gotten their reputation with the names so people know them as that. changing sydal to bourne was very bad (esp since they called him matt sydal and a week after his name was evan bourne). I think they should just have a name and stick with the name unless copyright issues or something lol. :y:

I was also really surprised that they kept CM Punk's name and they haven't even explained it (at least not that I heard or seen).

It stands for Cookie Master or Monster, he admitted it backstage earlier in the year, his mother gave him the nickname. That's for memory what the secret behind it is. Don't bet your life on it though.

Cookie Monster Punk sure is intimidating. I wouldn't get in the way of that badass.

But Elmo said on Rove Cookies are a sometimes food, so is CM Punk a sometimes wrestler?

The reason you guys dont like Braden Walker, Marquis Cor Von, Evan Bourne and shit is because you are so used to calling them Chris Harris Matt Sydal and Monty Brown....the names will eventually grow on us but the whole reaosn we think they are so bad is because they are new and not what we are used to.

No, the reason alot of people think they suck is ebcause they do. Like, none of them really have a gimmick, so the name can't fit, so theyd be better to go with a nromal name. But my point in this thread was, wwe seems o have a hard time making up normal names, and now alol these guys have names that just sound fake and phony. Like, Braden Walker and Evan Bourne sound like some cheap comic book superhero.

Yeah, because we all saw the amazing pop Chris Harris got when he made his way out in ECW thanks to his reputation.

ROH/TNA reputation in WWE means shit. You have to make yourself over with the WWE crowd, it doesn't matter if you were over in TNA or ROH.

Curry Man, anyone?

I think that's far worse than any of those WWE names.

But Curryman is meant to be a comedic character, you can't expect him to have a serious name.

WWE changes everyone's name so they will always own the rights to that name no matter what. I don't know how John Cena got to use his real name, or Orton, that's beyond me. Plus they don't want their guys leaving and using that ring name in another company and cashing in off their WWE run...ala Team 3D.
