WWE has begun work on a book to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the company and it's history. We noted months ago that WWE was working on a big DVD project for their 50th anniversary also.

Looking forward to hearing more about this and seeing who is going to be involved in both projects. With the history that WWE has had these both should be must buys but I will wait and see what details emerge. I presume that for the launch of both these projects that they will run a special 50th anniversary show on RAW or possibly even run a special on NBC/USA?

It will need to be a big book to cover everything in detail and I hope that it is like an encylopedia. I want to see more focus on the early years as well, focus on the territory system that was in place and how WWWF was part of the NWA at that time before going solo and then of course plenty of detail on how Vince Jr completely changed the landscape of wrestling by buying up other territories and expanding rapidly to take on NWA.

I would pop if they did another award show like they did with the 10th Anniversary show.

I thought they passed 50 years a long time ago, didn't the shows from the late 90s used to open with a voice over saying "for over 50 years the leader in sports entertainment" or something like that?

Anyway this could be interesting.

I think this means 50th Anniversary of the WWE Championship because that's 50 this year.

They have been around for longer but in 1963 they split from the NWA and formed their own company and their own world title and became WWWF.

Just as long as they don't spend over half the thing talking about John Cena I'm cool.

Need some background info on Vince Sr. tell us about how certain members of the NWA board wanted Vince Jr. dead for running in their towns and the takeover of wrestling territories, that was interesting times and makes for great DVD fodder.

A history of the WWWF/WWF/WWE would be fucking awesome, 3 disc DVD each about the different incarnations of the fed.

People need to learn about the fed before the boom.

If they could it would be great to get wrestlers from different eras to talk about it my personal choices to talk about this would be the following.

Vince McMahon
Undertaker
Triple h
Shawn Michael's
Stone cold
Cm punk
John Cena
Kane
Big show
Roddy piper
Ric flair
Paul heyman
Cowboy bob Orton
Randy orton
Stephanie McMahon
Bruno samartino
Bret hart

From those guys alone we have a great cast to discuss the past and the present.

Please take my money.

That was be great if they do that, I agree that there needs to be more focus about the early days. There have already been so many releases about what happened in the 90's with the Monday Night Wars and nothing that major has happened in the past decade in a structural sense, yes a couple of their top wrestlers at the time died but I doubt any time will be spent talking about one of them.

Good thing that Bruno is back on good terms with WWE, couldn't have a DVD like this without him being interviewed for it.

Think I would add Piper to your list he must have some great stories about the first boom period.
