This week was Week 1 of the cruiserweights focused on 'Underdog matches'. Main event of today's show was The Undertaker vs Jeff Hardy in a ladder match for the WWE Unified World title, from WWE Raw, July 2002. Other matches on today's show saw Triple H vs Taka Michinoku (WWF RAW, April 2000); The Rock vs The Hurricane (WWE RAW, March 2003); Rey Mysterio vs Big Show (WWE Backlash ppv, April 2003); and Zack Gowen vs Matt Hardy (WWE No Mercy ppv, October 2003).
Fun show as always and I really like the theme. Who doesn't love a good underdog story in sports and in wrestling where anything is possible they can book some great matches along that theme. Undertaker vs. Jeff Hardy is a match that I can rewatch again and again as it tells a great story. The booking in the weeks leading up to the match and to set the match up were perfectly executed and everyone wanted to see Jeff Hardy prevail. JR did a hell of a job as always on commentary hyping Jeff when he was climbing the ladder and that final spot after the match where Undertaker raises Jeff's hand was great. The Taka vs. HHH match was hilarious. Rock vs. Hurricane is fun and again they built it up well where it was believable that Hurricane could be a threat and the finish was well done with Stone Cold running interference. Mysterio vs. Show was memorable for that awesome spot post match where Mysterio was on a stretcher and Show picked it up and swung it like a baseball bat into the ring post. Gowen was all about the story and it was a nice moment when he got the PPV win.
Does anyone else watch this show? I know that it doesn't air in the US and it is a shame that it doesn't because it is a really enjoyable show.
