Following Wrestlemania XXX - Smackdown has found itself in a position where it has no one on the roster who could identify as a world champion, simply on the basis that it was Daniel Bryan and the WWE Championship that was drafted to Monday Night RAW during the mass draft that took place in the afternoon following Wrestlemania weekend. No doubt the newly appointed General Manager of Smackdown Stephanie McMahon is going to have an extremely busy night in the Cajundome in Lafayette, Louisiana.

NvYZlcKozwm9VnG_T65WkKn1NKhkhVLN1Ke4SvDST-O3v8dwwNlU2fqYIACUnUTktwOucaS_9drupcSQhnlq9aFDNLk3fvX0ovgy80_xh31NeVYeRAE4IEfGkQLItLi2pZjsvoFJ

During the draft it was announced that Smackdown would see the return of two tag team titles, with RAW claiming the WWE World Tag Championship belts and Smackdown the WWE Tag Team Championship Belts. With this returning of an exclusive belt to the Smackdown brand it was announced that some sort of tag team tournament would take place in the coming weeks to make sure that Smackdown has tag team champions prior to the Smackdown exclusive pay per view - Backlash.

AJ Lee is part of a club of one, as the only member of the Smackdown roster who was drafted as a champion. AJ has made it clear that she has a message for the rest of the Divas on Smackdown, and has asked to open the show.

Matchcard!

Match #1

1617024069186.png

WWE Championship
Extreme Rules Match

Daniel Bryan {c} vs Randy Orton

On the Raw After Wrestlemania, Daniel Bryan kicked off the show. Praising the fans for helping him reach the top, Bryan called out anyone for a match. And then ... out came Paul Heyman and Brock Lesnar. You could hear the boos over the theme song. Heyman called out Bryan, saying how Lesnar should be the champion. Lesnar submitted his name as the greatest of all time by conquering the Streak. Bryan called out Lesnar to fight, Lesnar made his way down the ramp. He stopped halfway at the ramp though, leaving Bryan confused. Then, he was hit with an RKO! Orton, despite being on Smackdown, was here on Raw tonight.

Later in the show, Orton spoke with new interviewer Renee Young. He revealed his ambitions and why he attacked Bryan. He said he was robbed of his opportunity at WrestleMania, and that it was just gonna be Bryan vs Orton. Orton would then turn into a Running Knee from Daniel Bryan, getting his comeuppance.

Week 2, Bryan kicked off Raw again. He calls out Orton, calling him slimy. And he accepts any challenge Orton gives him. Orton comes out and says that he wants to hurt Daniel Bryan. And that he wants Bryan 1 on 1 in an Extreme Rules Match. Bryan accepts, and the two almost get into a fight. And out comes Teddy Long! Teddy says that Bryan vs Orton will be made official, but they must get past their issues. He puts them in a 2 on 2 with New Age Outlaws, set to Main Event Raw.

In the Main Event, Orton and Bryan clearly didn't work together. Orton refused to tag Bryan in at times, allowing Bryan to almost lose a few times. Eventually, Orton tags in and lays out Road Dogg. After going for an RKO on Billy Gunn, it was reversed. Gunn almost rolled up Orton, but Orton kicked out. Orton accidentally tagged in Bryan, who took the two in the ring out with Yes Kicks along with Road Dogg with a Dropkick. Bryan would hit Gunn with a Running Knee and lock in the Yes Lock for the victory.

Week 3, Bryan had a segment backstage where he talks about the Authority. The Authority was gonna be Smackdown's issue, but now Randy Orton has made it Raw's issue. He promises to send Orton back scurrying to Smackdown. And that's it for that week.

On Week 4, Orton made an appearance at the start of the show, throwing Bryan into a locker room crate and DDTing him. Orton then made his way to the ring and promises that the WWE Title will be back in his arms in due time. Heath Slater then comes out for whatever reason and picks a fight with Orton. This leads to a short Squash Match between the two, ending with an RKO. At the end of the show, Bryan came out to the ring while Teddy Long was talking, and asked him to make sure that if Randy lost, he would be banned from Raw. Teddy Long made it official, but Orton attacked Bryan from behind afterwards. He then RKOd Teddy and Punt Kicked Bryan. Raw ended with Orton holding the WWE Title over Bryan.

At Extreme Rules, will Bryan be able to topple the Viper or will Orton slither his way back into championship gold? Find out @ Extreme Rules!

Match #2

Womens Championship
Paige {c} w/ Kaitlyn and Natalya vs Alicia Fox w/ The Bella Twins

After Paige's amazing win over The Bella Twins to win the womens title at RAW, Kaitlyn and Natalya came out. Natalya seemed to want to attack Paige, but Kaitlyn stopped her. Nonetheless, a celebration happened.

On Week 2, Paige was found backstage attacked by the Bella Twins. This lead to Kaitlyn and Natalya coming to help Paige. In a match that was set for later in the night, Natalya looked to have Brie out. But from behind Paige came Alicia Fox. Fox would throw Paige into the steel steps, distracting Natalya and the referee long enough for Nikki to swap places with Brie. One Rack Attack later and the Bellas were victorious.

Week 3, The Bellas said Alicia Fox has done more than enough to earn a women's title opportunity. Teddy Long came out and was about to deny it, but Paige came out an interrupted him. She said that if Alicia Fox wants to be a coward and attack her from behind, she'd strike her head-on. A Match was set for later in the night, 3 v 3 action. Paige would pin Brie with a Rampaige, before sending Foxie a message with a PTO.

Week 4, Kaitlyn faced off against Nikki Bella. Nikki won with a forearm smash into a Rack Attack. This would lead to a post match brawl between the two sides, ending in Paige hitting Fox with a Rampaige.

Will Paige successfully retain her Womens Title or will Alicia Fox stop all her momentum? Find out @ Extreme Rules!

Match #3:

United States Championship
Dean Ambrose {c} vs Drew McIntyre vs Sheamus

During the United States Championship #1 Contenders Match, Sheamus would lay Kidd out with a Brogue Kick and McIntyre would lay Miz out with a Claymore. And the two would manage to win at the exact same time. This would lead to a post-match brawl between the two, which resulted after an argument before who deserves the win. Officials would break up the action.

Week 2, McIntyre and Sheamus would begin to argue again backstage. Teddy Long appeared to settle the ordeal. He said both men won their opportunity, so they both would get the opportunity at Extreme Rules.

Week 3, Drew would get a one-on-one victory with Fandango before he was suddenly Brogue Kicked by Sheamus. Sheamus was then attacked with a chair by Dean Ambrose, before being Dirty Deeds. Ambrose would hold his US Title above the two.

On the go-home show to Extreme Rules, Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose would take on Sheamus and Drew McIntyre in tag action. Things were going well until Sheamus and McIntyre imploded. Ambrose and Rollins watched as McIntyre put Sheamus through a table with a Powerbomb. McIntyre would then be taken out with a Curb Stomp before Ambrose laid Sheamus out with a Dirty Deeds. Ambrose and Rollins would win.

Will Ambrose keep his record reign safe, will McIntyre move away from the 3MB days and get glory, or will Sheamus bring back his title? FInd out @ Extreme Rules!

Match #4

1617040808064.png

Bray Wyatt w/ The Wyatt Family vs Kofi Kingston w/ Xavier Woods

After Bray Wyatt defeated RVD, we got a backstage segment from Kofi Kingston a few minutes after. Kofi would be approached by Xavier Woods, who offered a proposal. The two worked together to move up in the company. Kofi accepted on the condition that no funny business would occur. Xavier agreed, and the two shook hands.

On the next week, we had a #1 Contenders Match for the Tag Titles. The new team of "Team Lucha" of Kalisto and Rey Mysterio, Kingston and Woods, The Wyatt Family, and Los Matadores. During the match, Kalisto would take out Harper and Rowan on the outside with a Suicide Dive, as Xavier would cheer. Then, he was attacked by Bray Wyatt. Wyatt would hit Woods with a Sister Abigail before Kingston ran at him. Kingston be taken out with a Uranagi. This would begin the build up.

The following week, Wyatt would pin Xavier Woods in a 1 on 1 match, before Harper and Rowan began to attack Woods after the fact. Kofi wasn't having it, and came down to help Woods. Kofi managed to hit a Trouble In Paradise on Wyatt. The match was made official on WWE's Twitter Account following this incident.

While nothing storyline of this happened on Week 4, Harper would get a 1 on 1 victory over Darren Young.

Will Bray Wyatt take down the high flying Kofi Kingston or will Kingston topple the Eater Of Worlds. Find out @ Extreme Rules!

Match #5

1617043556823.png

2/3 Falls
Adrian Neville vs Tyson Kidd

After Tyson Kidd lost his #1 contenders match, he turned his attention to the recently debuted Neville, who now had a 1v1 victory over Evan Bourne. On week 2, Kidd and Neville would have a one on one match. Despite Kidd using some dirty tactics, Neville would hit Kid with a reverse Frankensteiner into a Red Arrow for the victory. Post match, Kidd would attack Neville.

Next week, Kidd got a rematch with Neville. Neville almost got the victory, but a cheap shot from some hidden Brass Knuckles allowed Kidd to wipe Neville out with a Canadian Destroyer for the victory.

On Week 4, Neville would call out Kidd, challenging him to a 2/3 Falls match at Extreme Rules. Kidd would accept, promising him not to tread on his territory.

Will Adrian Neville continue to shine as a Future Superstar or will the Final Graduate of the Famed Hart Dungeon be the one to put him down? Find out @ Extreme Rules!

Match #6

1617043942938.png

Rusev w/ Lana vs Billy Gunn w/ Road Dogg
[Pre Show]

Every week, Rusev crushed someone new. Zack Ryder, Santino Marella, and Evan Bourne. He also added The Ravashing Russian Lana to his side after defeating Marella. On Week Four, Rusev would squash Road Dogg before locking in an Accolade on Gunn and Dogg simultaniously. This match was made official by WWE on Twitter.

Will the Bulgarian Brute continue his dominace by beating Billy Gunn or will Gunn overcome Rusev? Find out @ Extreme Rules.

Match #7
1617065628498.png

Tables Match
Roman Reigns w/ Seth Rollins vs Cody Rhodes

After Reigns defeated Jericho in the Main Event of Week 1, Rollins would attack Cody the following week. Cody would respond by costing The Shield a match against The Usos. Reigns was furious and began to hunt down Cody throughout the night. The two would meet as Cody's car wouldn't open. Reigns would proceed to batter the American outta Cody, throwing him into his own trunk.

On Week 3, Reigns would defeat Zack Ryder before Cody showed up after the fact. Cody would leave before Reigns could touch him. And on Week 4, Cody would be enjoying a fine wine with Santino Marella before Reigns came in. Reigns would powerbomb Cody through a table and walk off. The match was made official by Teddy Long who stopped Reigns after the fact.

Will Roman Reigns put Cody through another table or will Cody be the first to defeat Reigns one on one? Find out @ Extreme Rules!

As AJ Lee had requested she would open the show at the Cajundome (11th April) by presenting herself in the ring with the only title belt currently held by the Smackdown brand in her possession. The Diva’s Champion would make it quite clear that there was no denying that she was the most valuable person signed to the Smackdown brand, and that on that basis she had the power of make decisions from herself. She would announce that she would be deciding her own direction from this point forward, and that Stephanie McMahon went against her on this - then she would simply walk out of the company and turn Smackdown into a laughing stock. Whether this threat was empty or not, Smackdown GM didn’t come out to challenge AJ on this subject matter. AJ would announce that later on tonight Layla El would face Cameron in singles competition and that whoever lost the match would never be punished by never being able to challenge Lee for the title during any period of her title reign.

In the scheduled match, it would be Cameron who claimed victory over Layla El but in far savoury conditions.Whilst the referee would become distracted by AJ Lee who would make her way out from the back, Emma would enter the ring and attack Layla from behind perfectly setting up Cameron with a victory on a plate. As Layla would be left fuming about her loss only for AJ Lee to claim a microphone and remind Layla El that she would never be granted a shot at her championship for the entirety of her reign.

The shenanigans would continue the following week (18th April) as from the privacy of ‘her office’ AJ Lee would book another match, this time a tag team contest between Tamina Snuka & Emma against Eva Marie & Rosa Mendes. AJ would add the stipulation that whoever was pinned or submitted would suffer from the same shut out clause that Layla El was currently suffering from by being ineligible for a shot at the Diva’s Championship during her reign. Just like the week before it would Emma who would find herself involved in the match result, as mid-match she would simply exit the ring and abandon Tamina Snuka putting her in a two-on-one handicap position that would lead to Snuka losing the match and also finding herself being shut out from future title opportunities.

AJ Lee would be absent from television during the following episode (25th April) but it would emerge that a Fatal Four Way match had been booked, with the four losers also having to suffer the stipulation of being shut out from the title picture. The match would pit Rosa Mendes, Summer Rae, Aksana and Eva Marie against each other with the contest ultimately being won by Summer Rae. This would result in there currently being more Divas signed on to Smackdown who were unable to challenge for the title, and then those able to. To make the situation even more bizarre it would emerge that the reason AJ Lee had been absent from TV is because she had got a doctor’s note that she was suffering from exhaustion from her weekly responsibilities as the Diva’s Champion.

AJ would return to Smackdown the following week (2nd May) with the theatrics of suffering from exhaustion, as Emma who was clearly aligned with the champion would push AJ Lee around in a wheelchair. AJ Lee would announce that next week, a number one contender’s match would take place on Smackdown and that would see Cameron take on Summer Rae. AJ would make it clear that depending on the quality of the match that took place, would determine when the future title match would take place if at all.

J9OqK3GKj26LCUBfqd5Ln3n9sAqJhEeyHFaONguLFogZKYxoA1-MtNrVn7tXF7f6ucO3kX9UhunWDTrrJD2lcDM2iga8qa5LhjHEOk2QwmBvktwQczE5E70cbaFzbOOtct2piTSD

On the first episode of Smackdown following Wrestlemania (11th April), General Manager Stephanie McMahon would make it quite clear that crowning new WWE Tag Team Champions was one of her main priorities at this point in time. The first point of order would see Stephanie announce four triple threat matches featuring singles wrestlers - with the stipulation that the four winners would be able to pick their tag team partners ahead of the next round in this tag team title initiative. Two of these triple threat matches would take place during the same episode with The Great Khali claiming a victory over Damien Sandow and Curt Hawkins, whilst in the other match Mason Ryan who was also signed with NXT would claim victory over David Otunga and Goldust.

The following week (18th April) the second set of triple threat matches would take place with Cesaro claiming victory over Justin Gabriel and Tyler Breeze, whilst Ryback would defeat Yoshi Tatsu and Wade Barrett. With Cesaro, Mason Ryan, Ryback and The Great Khali confirmed as the four winners, they would be invited to the ring towards the end of the night to reveal their tag team partners. Cesaro would surprise anyone by selecting Jack Swagger who was his partner in ‘The Real Americans’ whilst Ryback would select Curtis Axel confirming RybAxel’s involvement. The Great Khali would announce that Jinder Mahal would be his partner, whilst the recently promoted Mason Ryan would gain everyone’s attention when he would announce Kane as his partner of choice. Stephanie would announce that next week all four teams would be involved in a four corners tag team - and that the winning team would be crowned as the new WWE Tag Team Champions.

The championship match would prove to be a highly entertaining contest (25th April) with all four teams involved putting on a stellar match that would span over twenty fives minutes and featured as the night’s main-event. The match would actually last longer than expected, that everyone involved in the match would look confused as a bell would be run. Tom Phillips would announce that the match had ended because the Smackdown had run out of television time, and that the match had therefore been ruled as a time limit draw much to the frustration of all the teams involved and also to the fans that were clearly annoyed that such a great match, had ended without any sort of conclusions.

Stephanie would apologize the following week (2nd May) and would admit that she had felt that the match last week would have been much shorter than it had proven to be and that new champions would have been crowned, but would reveal that she had been watching the match with eager eyes and been making notes. She would make it clear that the match had been so good that it didn’t seem right that the match had ended in a draw and had decided to overrule the decision of the referees and instead would confirm the team that had performed the best as the new champions. Everyone in the fans would look on in confusion as Stephanie would call out The Great Khali and Jinder Mahal out from the back and hand the pair the WWE Tag Team Championships in what could only be described as bizarre circumstances with it not being surprising that the other three teams were left feeling angry and very frustrated by the whole situation that had transpired.

F6YgX28s1rBZ8igInwr1bYVTpd1sSHT-JKZxA0TIws5tFHXy_oXmObSZ2UMyjTxPNFmQfNLWA1uZkqBO4w2OiFJWtMdAyXRsYgd2RvJ8_NJTIv8ge9rZEOMGS4H6CTEsKM6YEPlq

Stephanie McMahon would announce (11th April) that the structure of the WWE World Heavyweight Championship would feature in a much more structured division than it had in previous occasions. Stephanie would make it clear that in order to be part of the Heavyweight Division, you would be exclusively involved in the division and not feature in matchups with anyone outside of the division. It would then be confirmed that wins and losses would have an important part to play in the division, and so it was essential to maintain a positive win-loss record at all times with the aims this would create a more competitive title picture. A further stipulation would be added that if a match ended via count-out, due to the champion being outside of the ring the title would change hands. On this basis all Heavyweight Championship matches would have a twenty second ring count in place for all title matches. The following twelve men would be announced as the initial members of the Heavyweight Division:

Alberto Del Rio

Batista
Big Show
Brodus Clay
Christian
Dolph Ziggler
John Cena
Mark Henry
Randy Orton
The Rock
The Undertaker

Triple H

The first matches that would take place in the reformatted division would see Dolph Ziggler claim a match victory over Mark Henry, whilst Brodus Clay would defeat Alberto Del Rio.

On the following episode of Smackdown (18th April) Randy Orton would cut a promo backstage and make it clear that the whole idea of ranking were stupid and that from this point onwards he would refuse to take part in the stupid and instaed his main focus would be Daniel Bryan and winning the WWE Championship and that winning the title would force RAW to make him an official member of their roster. In terms of matches Batista would claim a win over Christian, whilst in a very intense match the Big Show would fall short as he would find himself tapping out to John Cena in the STFU.

On the next episode (25th April) The Rock would announce that he would make his much anticipated to Smackdown on a full time basis next week and hoped that Stephanie would book him an opponent worth of his time, and make it clear that he very much had his eyes setting on the title gold and that 2014 would be the year of the Brahma Bull. In terms of matches that took place within the division, Del Rio would demand a rematch against Brodus, although it would be the second time in as many matches that it would be Clay who would claim victory over Del Rio. Whilst, The Undertaker would claim his first division victory by beating Dolph Ziggler.

The Rock would finally return to Smackdown (2nd May) and it was clear that the fans were incredibly excited about his return to working full time for the company. The Rock would then demand that he face off against whoever was considered as currently the top ranked talent in the division, which by way of slender match record would be none other than Brodus Clay. The Rock would demand that the match start straight away and the pair would have a good match, although it would be The Rock that would ultimately claim the victory, something which would send the fans into complete eruption. Whilst, The Rock was celebrating he would be jumped from behind by Brodus who would attack The Rock before ejecting him out of the ring and over the ropes with the move that was being described as the Clay Crushed (Border Toss) that would leave The Rock looking in serious pain as he laid out on the concrete. Brodus though wouldn’t hold off and instead set up a wooden table before proceeding to Powerbomb The Rock through it, with the assault only stopping when a whole surge of backstage security emerged to drag Brodus away from The Rock who was being attended to by medical staff.

Two other matches in the division would take place with John Cena beating Batista, whilst Christian would claim an impressive victory over Triple H although this accomplishment wouldn’t register much attention because of the matters that had taken place between The Rock and Brodus Clay.
