Our good friend Graham Cawthon of www.TheHistoryofWWE.com called in the following from the currently ongoing Smackdown taping in Greensboro, NC:

*The new roster members are already in the new open.

*Announced for the show is WWE Tag Team champs Kane & Big Show vs. The Corre and Mark Henry vs. Rey Mysterio.

*The World title is hanging above the ring.

*Smackdown opens with Randy Orton coming out to a huge pop, introducing himself to the Smackdown fans. Drew McIntyre, wearing a Raw shirt, comes out and interrupts. McIntyre goes for his DDT but Orton slips out and drills him with the RKO. Alex Riley tries to interrupt but before he can say a word, he eats an RKO as well. The crowd loves all of this. Alberto Del Rio, Brodius Clay and Ricardo Rodriguez come out. Alberto says he will bring the World title to Raw. Clay squares off with Orton but Christian hits the ring to even the sides. Teddy Long announces a tag match main event for tonight.

*Kofi Kingston comes out but Sheamus attacks him during the pyro pose on the entrance. Kofi was wearing a Raw shirt. Sheamus destroys him and poses. Kingston is carried out by officials. Great way to leave the brand, eh?

*There is an in ring promo by a heavily bruised Michael Cole, who brings out Jack Swagger. Cole does a pig call to mock Jim Ross.

Swagger vs. Sin Cara. Cara nails the entrance! The match is being worked with old school Kane style mood lighting with blue and orange lighting. Cara dominated and won with a victory roll after Cole landed Swagger a weapon that Swagger never got a chance to use. Cara was over.

Backstage segment with Rey Mysterio being wished well on Raw by The Great Khali and Ranjin Singh. After Rey leaves, a large man of Indian descent appears. Khali and Singh treat him like a big deal and they all speak in Hindi together.

There is an in-ring promo by Rey where he talks about how it is hard to leave Smackdown but he promises he would beat Cody Rhodes at Extreme Rules.

*Rey Mysterio defeated Mark Henry by DQ. Not a bad match. Rey nailed the 619. Cody Rhodes attacked Rey in the crowd. Henry walked out laughing. Rhodes put a paper bag over Rey's face.

*WWE Tag Team champions Big Show & Kane defeated The Corre with double chokeslams.

*Michelle McCool vs. Layla El goes to a double countout. There is a big "Let them fight" chant after they are held apart by officials. Layla issues a challenge for a No DQ, No Countout match. McCool accepts and adds a Loser Leaves Smackdown stipulation. Layla accepts.

*Matt Striker interviews Christian who discusses his title match at Extreme Rules and Edge's retirement. Christian says it's HIS destiny to earn the right to be called World champion.
*Randy Orton & Christian defeated Alberto Del Rio & Brodius Clay when Orton pinned Brodius with the RKO.

This looks like a really good show except for the burial of McIntyre, Riley and Kingston.

Sin Cara's match I have to watch, not only for the entrance, but for the match held in blue and orange lighting.

Another giant indian on Smackdown?

Henry working well already as a heel.

The fact that LayCool were able to get a chant from the crowd is impressive. It means that the crowd is into them.

I like the idea of an interview with Christian and I hope the keep hammering the point home that he has never won the title and that this is his huge chance.

What do you think of the show?

Slightly disappointed Rhodes-Mysterio do not get a round three, but oh well...
As far as the burials, well that is Triple H booking with a person leaving the brands/company. Sucks but what can you do?

Orton already ruining my favorite show.

Also makes sense for Sheamus attacking Kofi since he was the one who beat him on Raw and he needs some heat going into the new place.

Smackdown is the best wrestling show on TV PuNk0.

You know, because they actually show wrestling.

I agree that Sheamus vs Kingston for the title seems like a lock for the PPV with Kingston taking the title to RAW. Not sure if Barrett and Sheamus will then start feuding because they are both in the top five heels on Smackdown and I am not sure if that show needs one of them turning face right now.

Agree with Troy SD doesn't have enough heels for Barrett vs Sheamus. I think Barrett vs Bryan is very possible. Maybe Barrett vs Sin Cara as well. Kofi could take the belt Sunday and move it to Raw.

Barrett vs Bryan would be good because they have history and it should be an easy build for the writers.

I was real impressed with Smackdown, and I think it really made me want to continue to watch moving forward.

It was great to see Orton get a fresh start last night, as it seems like he's been on Raw forever. I would have really liked to have seen a Drew-Randy feud though after last night, so I'm sad to see Drew going over to Raw where he's obviously going to get buried. It would be a way of putting Drew over.

I do have one problem with Smackdown though. Who's the top heel now? Wade Barrett? , who wasn't even on the program last night? Cody Rhodes? Who was on the program for what, 5 seconds? Sheamus? Mark Henry?

This would have been great to have seen Ziggler stay on Smackdown before because had he not won the title yet, he would in my mind be the top heel on that brand.

Ziggler would have been a good name to remain on Smackdown since on RAW he is about fifth in line whereas on Smackdown he could have been the top guy. Shame that WWE didn't move him back to Smackdown even though he had only been on RAW for a few months.

The Smackdown mainevent scene is really strange right now because they have two strong faces and then the rest is all guys that haven't quite made it to the top level yet or that need some more wins before being taken seriously.

Orton just killed anyone who would've been a threat to him, I don't get why they would sacrifice potential feuds for Orton on his first night there. This is why I don't like Ortons character, pro-wrestling and dominance gets boring after a few months.
