What are people even arguing against Troop about? :lol I mean, "no one wants me to enjoy WWE" stuff aside... As a WWE fan who already has cable, this is definitely cool for him. I side with him as reading that entry in the FAQ to mean that the app (at least the aspects that are tied to WWE events being broadcast on ESPN) won't be any additional if you already have cable with ESPN. And considering he already has cable, he will be able to watch the events that are broadcast on the ESPN TV channel anyways, without needing any additional subscription. Maybe my reading comprehension has fallen off, maybe they're using wording that makes it unclear, idk. I feel like Troop is justified to see this is as a positive for himself at least.

You were already able to watch the channels through the app if you had a cable provider, though.

It's honestly because when people treat him the way he's treating people, he wants to call everyone toxic, while refusing to see he himself can be very toxic. He acts like he doesn't treat people shitty, and acts as if he is some holy person. That just pisses me off.

With regard to Peacock, they will be more than fine without WWE.

They have Love Island and other reality shows, Twisted Metal and other TV shows. The NBA starting this upcoming season. The National Football League (at least one exclusive regular season game and maybe a playoff game not sure about that). They also have The Olympics (every event live, multi-views, studio shows). Peacock will be good without WWE.

I just find it hard to believe that the PLEs will now be free on ESPN etc, like I said if it rolls out and I’m wrong I’ll apoligize. It’s how he talked to me that set me off.

You'll have to walk this out for me because I'm not sure what point you're making. :lol

Some of them definitely will be, but yeah all of them just seem hard to believe. It could be. But yeah that's not even the issue. Its how he's talking to people, when he hates being talked to that way.

I think it's the "select PPVs will be on ESPN channels" part that's messing people up. That part is completely irrelevant to you if you plan to use your ESPN cable account to access the service for free, you would have access to all PPVs regardless of if they air on regular TV or not with ESPN. So that is only for old people that don't want to learn streaming and probably just a way for ESPN to fill content when they have gaps

I don't find it crazy because they're already so priced down with the Netflix/Peacock deals. They're not trying to sell the single shows now, they're just selling the brand as a whole and most importantly a subscription, which is the current most popular way companies milk you for all you're worth. Even in the combat sports world, PPVs are close to dying because it's an outdated model and it's a lot easier to quietly take $15 from someone's bank account once a month than it is to ask them to keep dropping $80 on a random Saturday. There's also these different revenue streams they have now like cities paying then to hold the PLEs and ads on the mat that changes what they need to make back in PPV sells, subscription earnings and what not in order to be meet their earnings goals. And then you add in that it's only "select PPVs" that will be on the actual TV channel, it doesn't seem too far fetched.

I just feel like I'm missing the relevance of them being on linear ESPN. Like I get culturally that is a thing to people that remember ESPN how they used to be, but it just seems to me like that's explicitly only relevant to ESPN content schedulers and old people that refuse to use streaming services they already get for free with cable.

So if you already have cable it's a deal for you, but not bc it's on linear, just bc you get the app, assuming you were canceling cable anytime soon. If you cancel cable then you got a pay the $30.

How am I the bad guy in this?

  1. I read the press release, understood how it will save me money, and expressed excitement for the deal because it not only will save me money but the entertainment company I enjoy gets more visability thanks to working with a global juggernaut like ESPN.
  2. I Didn't like the tone used (greedy cunts) to bitch about the deal. Explained how it is not a case of WWE being greedy just a case of getting a better TV deal now that the new one expired, yet continually get told that shows won't air on ESPN TV when it was in the press release. Who cares what ESPN says or what WWE says, it's not real. No it is real. No additional cost, and some shows will literally be on Channel 36 (for me, whatever ESPN is for you on your provider).
  3. I provided links, and screenshots of articles (including one behind a paywall) explaining how it isn't an additional charge for most people. But again get told what I said isn't true.
  4. Then I get told I'm toxic. I mean with all due respect I was not being toxic here. I was getting angry but can you blame me? I'm literally providing sources but getting told blindly that I'm wrong. What the hell do I have to do to not be toxic, just allow wrong information to spread?

Now, if you do not have a pay-TV provider, it will cost you $29.99 a month. This is true. but you were not watching 100% of WWE anyway, since Smackdown airs on USA Network and you need a pay-TV provider for that. And of course if you're in any other country in the world you just need Netflix.

Because you don’t like how I referred to WWE gives you no right then get shitty with me. No one called you names but yet we got called shitty people. I respectfully asked you to stop talking to me in that tone and you doubled down,

You could've replied nicer about it, I think is the issue Booty has. That's where the whole toxic part comes from. Surely when you called people that, when they weren't being toxic. But it seems like its an issue if you feel it's done to you? Like i love you man. But if you want people to talk nicely to you, you have to do it also. No one here who argued was innocent today with this whole thing, that includes you. Can you not accept that?

So not everybody is cord-cutting. And not everybody uses streaming. A lot of people still use their TV, and scroll through the channels to find something to watch. Now they can do that and literally watch WrestleMania or SummerSlam.

But without any of that, it's the fact that WWE is with the biggest sports media entity in the world (and for now they're also with Disney since Disney currently owns ESPN). ESPN.com already has a WWE section, but this will only increase the WWE presence on ESPN platforms. ESPN typically (like any other media outlet) gives more coverage to the events/sports they air.

OK. Is there a reason you blatantly ignored any piece of information and continued to spread misinformation the entire time? That's just as bad if you ask me.

Me: Here's WWE and ESPN both saying that select shows will be on TV.
You: ESPN is not gonna put PLEs on TV.
Me: Here's proof of both sides saying that's gonna happen.
You: It's not happening.

Can you not see how that's aggravating?

I truly am sorry if you were offended by what I said. Honest. It's just that when I get constantly needled like I have been I go on the offense and give it back worse than I had been getting it.
