Nah, it's not really degrading when they wouldn't get anything out of going over a new main eventer that's gonna be fighting for the World Title at Wrestlemania. I thought that was perfect. Great build up for Jack.

Rocky wasn't thrust into the picture until Survivor Series 1998. He turned heel and feuded with Mankind for two months. Austin came back to win the Royal Rumble and they had their FIRST match in the main event to see Austin take the title from Rock. Rock didn't see the top spot for some time after that, while Austin feuded with Undertaker for most of 1999. Then Triple H won his first and Big Show came into the picture as well. Not until Austin was "run over" to let him have his neck surgery did Rock have his first REAL push as the top guy when he won the 2000 Royal Rumble and carried the company as a babyface with an attitude. Austin came back in late 2000 and settled his feuds with Triple H and Rikishi from the "run over" angle. Then won the Royal Rumble and immediately took the belt back from Rock at the their second 'Mania in 2001. Rock didn't see another WWE title until 2002 after Austin retired. Don't try to school me on this!
